Came to learn how to open the trunk after I made a mistake and slammed the trunk right after removing the negative terminal for a steering wheel swap. Left with a GB40 in my cart. DUDE! You da' man! It worked like a charm! Some guy on RUclips could only pull the back seat down only halfway and sent his kid through a small opening so SHE could pull the release. Shit, I can't do that, all my kids are in their 30's! Man, I was killing myself trying to figure this out! This is not only worth big thumbs up, and a big sub on top of it! I'm so glad you posted this. In my case, I had already taking the core to BMW and bought a new battery. Came back to the car and was like Dang....How am I gonna get in the trunk? Already had one of those portable chargers, so it was smooth sailing after that!

How do you jump or charge the battery when the F30 hood latches get loose? There seems to be debate if you can ever hook CTEK directly to the battery VS disconnecting the battery and just charging it alone and then reinstalling it Any recommendations?
Hey! Will the BMW battery drain to death on any kind of use of aftermarket rear camera interface? My car’s battery died and dealer says replacement and not giving under warranty since I used aftermarket interface type rear camera setup retrofit.
Noco is awesome! I own one and also a trickle charger using OBDII connector. Great for long vacations and when I come back the bmw is still juiced.

Thank you for sharing this tip. You just saved my ass. I was working on my M6 convertible, had disconnected the battery, went inside the cabin and then a gust of wind blew the boot shut.
After buying a Noco Boost Plus and waiting what seemed like an eternity for it to charge, I hooked it up to the car, turned it on, pressed and held the Exclamation button for 3 secs and bingo, I was able to open the boot, reconnect the battery and finish the job 👍

@@salmanjamil5349 tried the key insert and trying to open it whilst pulling door handle and turning key past the open position but it still won’t open. I can’t access the trunk or any doors :(. Any ideas at all mate?
you can take the drivers wheel out and try to pull the wires to unlock the hood and then you can jump start it once u open the hood then unlock the trunk

My 2008 335XI without warning, does nothing when I push the Start button. I noticed the cabin lights do not come on when I open the door, nor does the comfort access detect me and unlock the doors. It is just strange that the battery would just go dead without some warning like a sluggish starter, etc tipping me off (no low battery light either). Hope it is just the battery. I will try and jump start it, (Thanks for the tips), but is there a way to test the battery as they usually will perform OK for a while after a jump start then all of a sudden they're dead again. Thanks.
Be gd if u took close up of where you connected leads. So I took my battery out my z4 as it's dead I closed everything up while I charged battery. I now can't get in. My z4 has a key entry as well it won't open. I have a fully charged battery so where do I put jump lead terminals in engine area
I have a 2019 BMW X5, i was able to jump start the car fine, but I can no longer jump start the car with acid battery removed, i gues you will need a connected battery even if it's dead to close the circuit. I don't know what to do now, I can't open the trunk so I can put the battery back. It looks like from 2018, BMW X5 don't have a manual trunk release to open (which is stupid). I called BMW, no help, they told me to call dealership. Called dealership, they told me to tow the car to the dealership, helpless.

we jumped our 328i under trunk..did we do damage? also by accident we jumped the cas black 4 prong relay under passenger glovebox.....thought it was starter relay..and now all lites, wipers, dome lites, stay ON with car off..car originally no crank no start..also wont shift..please help. thank u

I even try removing my backseat to get entry ton the trunk no success aswel because there's a fews screws that u have to open from inside the trunk and Australian model dont even have the emergency latches so im kinda stuck
is there a way to wire some wires by passing the battery to just have enough power to open the trunk with the fob keys ?

i need to buy one of those chargers. at the moment i have a problem with my e46. all the doors are locked, windows closed, and i think the battery is dead so i cannot get into it. what recommendations do you have to get under the hood or the trunk open without drilling a hole into it to get the battery out to replace?

Hey bro i have 07 328xi manual and o need to open the trunk, and i disconnected the positive connection from my battery and also the wirings from the red thing the one on top of the battery, and tried the way on how you open your trunk but i didnt work?

This doesn't work if you removed the red/black distributor box off of the positive cable. If you have ski-pass through (and maybe folding rear seats) use that to get to the child release in the trunk. Or apparently there is a wire (in the glove box?) you can use to activate the trunk relay - research that...
I know this is a year later but in my 2006 I was able to push a tab in my glove box to the unlock symbol for the trunk and I used the key part of my FOB to unlock my trunk.I had no power to the car.

You should still be able to start it
If your battery is fully disconnected meaning your terminals aren't attached. This will not work. I had a similar situation on my 2011 bmw 328i coupe.
I removed my battery so I can go get it swapped out and my girlfriend closed the trunk while I was gone with the battery.
After a whole day of freaking out and imagining worst case scenario.
I came across the video and got it done open in like 5 minutes!! Basically pop out the handle, and two light things from the trunk. Push down the white board thing. The cable to open the trunk is right behind it. I used a screw driver and pushed it towards the right and boom trunk opened.
Hope this helps out for anyone that is going through this situation!

I also tried the same thing. I had to go on a trip for a long time and fully disconnected the battery completely I close the trunk without thinking about how to get back in. Now that I'm back from my trip I try to replicate what you did but the car does not seem to receive any power enough to open the trunk could it be because I completely removed the negative and positive assembly?

Nope
Fixed. BMW 2007. No power crawled through the back, pushed emergency rod to the left after taking off a clip on the central lock system.
Will this procedure work if the battery is totally disconnected/removed from the trunk? I tried this demonstration however my 2011 528i trunk would not open to allow me to replace battery.

Hi Brian, was just wondering if you even changed or replaced your car battery completely. I have heard that if you replace the entire battery not just disconnect the negative terminal, you would need to reprogram or recode the new battery to the car for the BMW. Is that true?

My car is locked and the battery died. I cannot even get in. Not even with the actual key that comes inside the fob.
You can do this ONLY when the battery POST terminal is disconnected not the Red CONNECTOR which sits on top of the battery. You simply have to drop down the rear seat center arm rest, drill a hole large enough to slide a broom handle inside to pull the trunk release lever. Then write a letter to BMW for stupid engineering.
My 325i 2006 BMW will not start, so I tried to take the battery out, shut the trunk but didn't realize I couldn't get back into the trunk. I watch several video's, so I went trying to take out the back center but decided not to drill holes, I decided to take the back seat, but the backrest was too heavy duty for me.I saw a video with the guying into the glove compartment and pushing a tab at the top left that shows a trunk, lock and unlock symbol he moved it over to unlock and that disengages the actuator(if that is the correct word), I tried it and it worked. I still had my keys, but that was mine blowing, so now I have to put the back seat back in. I had no power to my car.
@@vettriley675 isnt this tab default to be unlocked? otherwise you wouldnt be able to open it in normal circumstance
why you drill throw your seat bro i had the same probleme and i just removed the rear seats it take me 10 mn 2 crews to remove and i had full acces to the trunk
How do you get an F30 into neutral when the car stalls, dies, won't start, fuel pump quits while driving? My fuel pump died with no warning leaving me stuck in the middle of the road and was not able to shift into neutral.
You can, but you have to get under your car, remove the under shield for the transmission and there is a 5 mm allen bolt that needs to be turned. AKA, do everything you can to get power to the car to pop it in neutral. I believe as long as the car has power, and is on, you can still get it into neutral.
No it would not go into neutral. I had to keep pushing the start button so the engine would crank and was eventually able to get it into neutral. So i'm thinking the transmission control module has to receive a crank or cam signal in order to shift to neutral if the engine is not running very unnerving good thing it was late and no traffic around me. So as the engine was cranking I had to quickly shift to neutral, there should be an easier way to bypass this I mean who is going to crawl under a car remove bolt etc.
