14:26 How to improve blood sugars and correct diabetic conditions
    17:52 Action steps
In this video, we’re going to go in-depth on the topic of blood sugars, and I’m going to debunk a big diabetes myth. This is an incredibly important topic, but it’s also very misunderstood. If you have diabetes, hypoglycemia, or you’re concerned about preventing those conditions-this video is for you.
I’m going to explain why and how people end up with conditions like type 2 diabetes and hypoglycemia. I’m going to talk about what the body burns first - fat or sugar and why it may be difficult for those who have diabetes to be on a diet and get results. I’m also going to explain what the body must have in order to stay healthy.
Overall action steps for high blood sugar and diabetes:
    • Intense exercise (interval training)
    • Sleep 7-8 hours
    • Get your liver healthy (consume more kale)

I was diagnosed with diabetes, 'because my blood sugar was too high'. I refused medication and corrected my diet and in 3 weeks my blood sugar was normal. The doctor couldn't accept this and insisted I had diabetes for life and should take his medication. I argued that, by his own criteria, I did not qualify as diabetic. He said come back in 3 months and we'll see. I did and he still couldn't accept it. That was a couple of years ago and my blood sugar has never been out of the normal range. Conclusion: some doctors are fools.

Dr. Eric Berg helped me cure my blood sugar issue and I have lost 30 pounds in less than 6 weeks. As my family doctor said I will have to live with the blood sugar issues for the rest of my life but 6 weeks later when I went back to my family doctor he could not believe these changes I went from 600 blood sugar to 90 and now after I eat my blood sugar average is 120 I no longer have to take blood sugar medication I just take my vitamins Chromium + Magnesium + potassium and i drink apple cider vinegar before my meals I now feel relay good I don't fall asleep and I am very energetic, If you have blood sugar issues just follow his instruction they are free and they will save and change your life to healthy living thank you Dr. Eric Berg

I lost my wife at a young age last year to cancer...
    I'm only 57 myself.
I was grieving so much that i suffered a heart attack after 33 yrs as a trucker.
Its such a very unhealthy career and lifestyle.
I had my surgery and completely changed my lifestyle.
    I felt lost..
I didn't want to leave my 2 grown daughters alone with no parents.
    After 3 months in rehab,
I brought my a1c down from a 15 to 6.5 due to diet and a complete lifestyle change.
I cut out unneeded salt and no soda,
    Cut out red meat,
increased my veggie intake, became a partial vegetarian.
I walk my dogs everyday now and drink more water.
I go to the gym with my oldest daughter a few days a week now working out on the bike and light resistance weights.
I still feel fatigued after 13 months.
My Dr says it may take 2-3 yrs before I actually feel like I did before this entire episode even happened.
Thank you and God bless. 🙏🏼🙏🏼😪🥰

There’s even a whole demographic of people who get offended when doctors tell them their weight and diet is a contributing issue. They prefer to take a pill because it’s easier.

He spoke about potassium and how much we need it every day and we don't get enough of it. Guess what, too much potassium is exactly what you don't need if your kidneys are only working 50%. Too much of it will mean you can say goodbye to your kidneys and either hello to a transplant or death. So be warned, get you kidneys and all else checked before going raving mad with the potassium. You can check your kidneys simply by looking into the toilet when you pee. If there's a lot of foam generated by your urine, then you've far too much protein in your urine. Your kidneys are supposed to filter your urine and keep the valuable protein inside your system. Next if the kidneys stop working properly and you've got a ton of impurities in your blood, then you're heart is pumping blood filled with crap, that stops the lungs working properly. That means you'll get short of breath, and if you are short of breath then your heart muscle is also short of breath, short of oxygen. If that happens you'll soon find out when you get a pain across the top of your chest. That means you're having a heart attack ! Then you need to move yourself and get to emergency in a good hospital. Anyone over about 50 years old is at risk. Worst culprit for too much potassium is any dark coloured colas, like Coca Cola.
Kind regards and good luck - Chris in Thailand

@@charlestaylor6279 Too much synthetic potassium is bad. Anything in natural form, if the body has no use for it, it's filtered out. Also, in a standard American diet, there is a potassium shortage. When studies are done for the effects of any substance, they use synthetic forms. I learned the hard way to stay away from synthetic. I used to use vitamin c pills, but my body seemed worse off. I then switched to lemons, and it was like magic. Stick to healthy whole foods.

Hi Joan I followed Dr Berg exactly. I started out with 2 meals a day and a week later went to 1 meal. That consider of: a giant sale of mixed greens like the size you would feed a whole family, and I had high fat hamburgers 2 with a half of stick of butter melted and 2 slices of swiss cheese on them. No bread no carbs of any kind. That's all would eat for 24 hours. I ate every day at 2:00. I would substitute the hamburgers for fish or pork but never left off the butter. Did that for a year. Now I have 2 meals a day just split that one in half. Now I have 4 or 5 eggs in the morning and eat a keto meal in the evening. For me it helped because my wife went on it as well. Just do what Dr Berg says and it will work. Thanks for your message. Peter

Wow! I found this absolutely amazing. It broke down every mystifying issue I had with understanding Type 2 diabetes which I was diagnosed with early last year! It explained the mysterious pain I get down my thighs, the roles of both Liver & Pancreas regarding blood sugar. I am so very grateful for you intelligent, yet down to earth explanations. Thank you so very much Eric Berg! I also have very high BP & am navigating my way through your tutorials, loving every one & recommending your channel to everyone I know with health issues! Hi Dr. Berg. I am 67 yo woman. I have been Pre-Diabetic for a couple of years. At the beginning of this year I started a my own version of the Keto diet ( I am still eating a few nuts a day and a couple of fruits a week ). The last blood work I did ( In April of 2022) showed a considerable improvement in all fronts. My Doc. used the word "Perfect" to describe my blood levels ( those targeted to measure my Pre-diabetic condition). Now they indicate that now I am not Pre-Diabetic anymore. I need to maintain these levels so I cannot relapse and start following my carb filled old diet.
I have a request: Could do a video ( if you have not done it yet) on the best ration between the ideal quantity of raw vegetables and that of cooked vegetables we should eat? And finally what do you think of raw fennel? What are its properties?
Thank you for all your good work and your knowledge.

I am 66 yrs old, I had my morning fasting blood Sugar 190-216, A1C 8. My doctor told me I will have to take meds, I refused to go on meds, and chose, diet, exercise instead. Yes I took Apple Cider Vinegar and Cinnamon, my diet is very low carbs, high fat, in 10 weeks my morning fasting BG is down to 110-132 and I lost 15 Pounds. I am not even trying to lose weight because I am not over weight. I am trying gain back few pounds.
I am very healthy given my age, I hike 3 miles almost everyday up and down. I eat only 2 meals ( Lunch and Dinner only, LCHF, Low Carbs High Fat ) Zero added sugar in my diet. Not easy but doable. I am NOT counting calories.
I have not even started taking Potato Starch yet. I strongly believe BG is a life style disease.

Hello Dr. Berg, I wanted to take the time to say thank you for all of these videos you have posted. I have been studying a lot and applying it to my new life style. My back story is I have a lot of health issues to include diabetes, high blood pressure, hypothyroid, osteoarthritis in my back and shoulders, Fibromyalsia, and chronic kidney stones among other problems. I was 280 pounds after 15 surgeries. My kids are grown, my wife was always at work, and since I was home by myself a lot, it was easy for me to eat fast food. What a mistake. I had no idea what I was consuming and how much carbs and sugar. When I found out I was diabetic, it was in the E.R. while I had three half inch kidney stones. My A1C was 10.8 and my blood sugars that night was almost 500. My blood pressure was hitting 240/205 a lot and I would get horrible headaches. I started eating better and avoiding fast food. By doing this I lost 35 pounds just by eating more veggies and cooking at home. Not one of my doctors and specialists ever talked to me about nutrition in the 11 years I have been dealing with this. I am now on the ketogenic Diet with intermittent fasting of 20 hours fast and a 4 hour feeding window. My first month, I lost 27 pounds! My doctor was so impressed with my weight and blood sugars (which I was getting low 70's) He took me off of metformin. My blood sugars have been so controlled, I have been staying around 83 to 89 blood sugars!! I have been on this for a month in a half now and loving it. I don't get hungry until around the time I eat. I have started doing low impact exercise with weights and a little swimming with success. Right now my weight is down to 210 pounds at 43 years of age. I continue to loose weight every week. My doctor said my blood labs look great. He is going to test my testosterone levels tomorrow. I never was overweight growing up. I was real athletic and in great shape, but over time became less active with a horrible diet. I am truly happy with my choices and you are a big part of my success. Thank you for showing us a life style that actually works. Everyone is asking me how I am doing it. I am proud to start them with your channel. I have tried different methods for loosing weight and never had real success. This truly is amazing, again, Thank You for taking your time to show a proper, healthy life style.

Most physicians rely on what pharmaceutical reps tell them….I worked in a primary care residency program - teaching medical residents, but I am a mental health provider - and saw how often physicians use drug reps for information. And btw, many medical programs teach MAYBE one course on nutrition…bottom line - many physicians have NO idea how the body actually works. They just look at what to do when things ‘go wrong’”. One time, one of my MD colleagues was preparing to give the residents a talk on the cause and treatment of diabetes. Major point - beta cells in the pancreas are not functioning properly - when I asked WHY don’t they function properly, he looked at me like I had 3 heads and said “My patients don’t care why, they just want me to tell them what to do to fix it.” Swear to god, that was the conversation. Everyone needs to take responsibility to get the right information….as in these videos from Dr. Berg

Best way to cure yourself from type 2 is cut out your carbs, just like a real diabetic. If you were to go on the Atkins diet for one week your sugars would be back to normal, almost guarantee it. The question to most people with type 2 is, do you care enough about getting off the medications and reversing the problem to actually change your diet!?

My local Meals on Wheels program brings food loaded with sugar, plus sugar added on TOP of the natural sugar. Every fruit cup, bean salad, and coleslaw portion has PLENTY of table sugar, and/or high fructose corn syrup. And that's before we get to dessert! It's literally half the items on the menu. This is what the government calls a "balanced diet." Truly SAD. I think they're trying to kill off senior citizens to keep Social Security solvent.

In my community every Thursday a food truck comes and gives out free food from, mostly, whatever WaWa has left over. Most of it pure junk, high carbs with lots of rolls/bread, and who knows what else. I went one time and have never gone back since I saw what they had. I also see a Meals on Wheels truck come around here a few times a week, loaded with very little that is healthy. Takes a long time I guess for doctors and others to catch up on the latest. The VA is another place that is at least 10 years behind the times. I've seen what they've done to my husband who went from no diabetes to injecting insulin, constantly raising the dose. I warned him it would happen but he didn't listen and now he's a slave to that insulin injection.

@@Cissy2cute My doctor seems to believe ONLY DIABETICS should worry about sugar AT ALL. I think a FEW very ACTIVE individuals can eat fructose at will, but at the same time, it's the CAUSE of our obesity epidemic, as well as many chronic diseases. I also think it was primarily responsible for killing off most American Indians.

That is because too many think fat makes fat, when that is not true. Fat is good, and sugar is bad. However there is almost no lobbyists saying that people need to eat more fat, but there are lots of lobbyists in congress to get people to eat more sugar. The UN was going to set a standard on what is a healthy diet, but our USA because of the sugar lobbyists said we would pull all funding to the UN unless they backed off cutting sugar. This is why there is so much sugar, the money going to congress is more important to them than our health or lives.

@@rickideemus I've seen photos of Indians from the late 1880s - early 1900s and they were slim and trim. Pictures of Indians on the reservations now show overweight people suffering from diabetes and heart disease, due to two reasons-1) the extreme change in lifestyle from hunter/gatherers eating mainly meat, root vegetables etc to sedentary reservation life, . and 2) the government rations full of everything we are NOT supposed to eat. It's not just Indians but anyone who receives government rations. It's a damn shame because often it's all those people have to eat. There was a video that has since be removed from YT that said "Your Government Is Killing You" with their outdated philosophy on food.

if thats the case, then they are also doing it to the poor, because the food pick ups at the local churches are all starch and sugar to feed the families of the poor, and rarely do you get meat and veggies.
