    Its wild that my kids 19 dollar night light comes ready to pair with a phone but the cutting edge bass amp needs a dongle you have to pay extra for

    I had this amp for 2 weeks and sent it back. I wasn't really floored by the versatility, it makes tons of different sounds but none of them sound better than ok. It seems like they just stuck 1000 little tweaks that aren't really useful just to say how many options there are. They could've focused on making 5 or 10 really good and varied presets and had an absolute monster.

    I'm guessing that this thing will sound divine after you shuffle through and make it literally your own. Look at it like that. Kind of like how we all went crazy when Line 6 first came out with the pod. Sure, playability out of the box isn't fantastic, but think of what you can possibly do. It's worth a look at least.

    it's wierd that i'm not a fan of any of these sounds but the Boss ME-90B sounds so good. seems like you would be much better off getting a boss me90b and an inexpensive amp from TC electronic or peavy.

    If you put these internals in a DarkGlass case and bumped the price up $400 I bet the comments would be very different. I think this is a good looking amp, which I don’t doubt is full of useable tones, for a reasonable price. It’s not for me, but I can think of thousands of applications where this would fit perfectly. Comparison videos aside, Class D heads don’t tend to vary enough to make RUclips a reliable indicator of tone - nowhere near enough to justify meaningful critique.

    I'd much rather see them to a review of the Katana 110. They've done the 210.... but I hardly ever see anyone doing reviews of the 110; I'm actually thinking about replacing my Ampeg BA110v2 with the Katana 110; so I can use its Bluetooth with my Windows PC, yes you can actually do that and don't need a Bluetooth phone; so long as your Windows PC has Bluetooth, it can be used with the Boss Bluetooth adaptor!

    Hey kids remember the boss multi-effects pedals that sounded awful!?! Now you can get an amp that sounds just as bad with fewer sounds!!! Sarcasm aside though I don't care for the amp this is a great product demo. Thumbs up.

    I had the 210 combo. It was a decent amp but 90% of the features go unused. I would absolutely get decision paralysis trying to dial in a tone i liked.
    I think if your someone that is trying to accomplish many different sounds with one amp it might be worth looking into. I tend to find my sound and stick with it. Why thing doesn't have a built in tuner is a huge mystery to me.

    • @Therealchuckbailey
      @Therealchuckbailey 6 месяцев назад +1

      Waza amp is pretty cool but its inherent mechanics are more in line with Katana series which I’m guessing is why they went that name route. Also, what makes Katana a “budget line”? The katana combo was at a competitive price point but it was class A/B power! Not a lot of budget lines offering that

    • @klaymeister
      @klaymeister 6 месяцев назад +3

      @Therealchuckbailey yeah the katana 210 is about 600 bucks. This combo is $1500. Pretty big difference there.
      Also, don't get me wrong. I have one of the 110 combos. But that's because of the price that I got it.

    So is it possible to bypass the output settings/cab sim? I'm baffled why this doesn't have an effects loop and I'd like to be able to use the lineout with IRs but I can't tell if its possible.

    • @Uygkuyfkutfkytfkutfv
      @Uygkuyfkutfkytfkutfv 6 месяцев назад

      Aguilar amps have loops but insist that if youre just using pedals you go straight in the front. Is that baffling to you too?

    • @Carnstein
      @Carnstein 6 месяцев назад +1

      @@Uygkuyfkutfkytfkutfv This baffles me because the cheaper katana bass combo does have a loop and this one doesn’t. Also there are more effects like modulation in this amp compared to the Aguilar so signal chain order matters more. Your comparison makes no sense especially since I’m asking about bypassing the cab sim.

    So I've been a guitar player for some 30 yrs, and over the past 5 or so have been getting into bass. The Katana has gotten a lot of love from you tubers in the guitar world and is in a lot of shops. I've never liked them. Was just never impressed by the sound, and it wasn't as intuitive as it was made to sound. I fear this may be more of the same.

  • @57precision
    @57precision 6 месяцев назад

    Those bass distortion/fuzz settings sound absolutely horrendous. Weird because the Katana gets almost universally praised in the guitar world, but they seem to not be able to translate that success to what bass players want.

    • @abouc
      @abouc 6 месяцев назад +1

      Given how good Boss is at making gear, I was just really disappointed with the absence of a "neutral" mode that bypasses the digital stuff letting you just hear your bass without processing for those times you don't want effects.

    • @sparella
      @sparella 6 месяцев назад

      What does "digital" sound like... a bit crusher?

    • @abouc
      @abouc 6 месяцев назад

      @@sparella it's nothing that drastic. The digital quality is hard to describe in words, but there's a "processed" sound to it. For example, have you ever played through a compressor pedal that colored your sound in a way you didn't like? It's a bit like that, but weirder.
      This is easier to hear when you A/B it with a traditional amp in a real-life setting (not a noisy guitar store) at volume with your own bass. When compared to an amp you know really well, the digital sound becomes really obvious.
      The guitar Katanas sound great though.
      Hopefully that helps clear it up a little bit.
