Nikki Shields I know! Why ask the question of you're just going to argue with the answer! As a DOCTOR, Andrea gives answers and info based on scientific research. Also sharing her own experience. I love this channel because it offers both consumer and scientific approaches.
I appreciate that she uses the term "perceived benefit"... that "it has not been substantiated whatsoever in scientific/medical literature." Thanks for giving us the straight scoop Dr. Dray!
There are studies that show that castor oil topically generates the increased immune activity in the area where it is applied Therefore if one has hair loss due to any problems that are a result of inflammation (dandruff , psoriasis etc etc) castor oil will lower inflammation allowing hair growth
I had long thick 4c hair after letting me friend do my hair 😢I start to have hair loss in Dec 2023 and in Jan 2024 I start to use hair products to see if it’s growing I’m not sure as yet it’s only been 3 week since I started to use hair product I will update when I’m not right on top of my bra strap 😢😢😢I will be using this type of oil thank you ❤
I think the same is jamican mango and lime. I got it from target. As far as results go hmm it's been awhile but I believe the ingrown hairs started about a week after using it
I got the littleexrtra reactivate growth serum as a gift for my mom, who had hair thinning. She has seen a significant decrease in hair fall and is happy to see new hairs growing back.
I would love if you talked more about hair conditions... side note As someone who lost their hair I was told to dilute castor oil with jojoba oil and saw hair growth after consistent use in places I hadn’t had hair in YEARS
I have completely changed my skincare routine because of you. And not just because I love your videos but because you educate your viewers to make informed decisions. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge.!♡
Yes, this really works. I've been trying the reactivate hair serum by liittllexttra, and it's working. My hair has started to grow, especially in areas where I've had long-standing issues. Along with aloe vera and Indian gooseberry, the serum is the new addition to my hair routine that has at last shown results after years of trying different oils. Additionally, at the end of the week, instead of throwing away the tea leaves, I use them as a hair rinse during my weekly wash routine.
grateful for your suggestion.. I also added reacctivate hair serum plus cocoonnion shampoo, conditioner to my routine. it’s been a month, I can see some positive changes in hair growth on my scalp
I came back to this video to say after 2 years of hair thinning and loss, I started using castor oil and after just a couple weeks I absolutely have new hair growth. Little baby hairs are sprouting and I notice my existing hair got longer in a short amount of time. I've been combining 1 tablespoon of castor oil with 1 tablespoon of jojoba oil or olive oil (will try coconut oil too) and about 15 drops of rosemary oil. Makes about 2 nights worth. I've been doing this twice a week and leaving it on my scalp for 2-3 hours.
@@nataliedegracia3232 I think it's been a key part in growing new hair! I can see an improvement when I look at before and after pictures. I noticed when I stopped using it consistently, I had more hair fall too which is interesting. When I restarted, not long after, I started to see new growth again. I also have been using the Nutrafol hair supplement which I started at some point after starting the castor oil and I think that has also helped. But the castor oil, I started seeing new growth almost immediately. I wouldn't say it's a massive change yet but an improvement for sure and enough to keep me going with it
I use castor oil on my eyebrows and eyelashes every night ( I have trichotilomania) and it actually does grow my hair fast! I know it hasn’t been proven, but I have personally seen results🤗💕
Pickled Ginger yeah they all are..that’s why I apply it at night before I go to bed and then wash it off in the morning. I also rub it in for 5 minutes so that’s helps
You are spot on about how devastating hair loss can be. Before menopause I could barely get a brush through my hair, now it is so thin...but healthy. Never bleach or dye my hair. If only Castor oil was the answer it would probably cost $100 an ounce and I would have to decide .....coffee or Castor oil.😱. Great video. Hugs.... Sherry
Me too, I'm also 62 and had grey in my blonde eyebrows. After a month of putting it on before going to bed, my brows are no longer grey and my eyelashes are also longer. I use organic cold pressed, and really just a drop on my finger. Hate when they say no studies have been done. I think if 100 of thousands of people say it works and that it's been around for 100s of years that's enough evidance for me. Besides all those studies are always warped to who's ever paying for said study. In other words most are just plan BS.
@@chiron591 yes, or sometimes there are simply no studies at all because there's no money to be made from it, in which case saying there's no data is stupid.

That castor oil matting issue I never heard of until watching this video. I used castor oil about three times. I even used substantial portions of it for my hair and never had a problem. I didn't dilute it with anything either. I think if using a ridiculous amount of castor oil and leaving it in for a long time that a problem is possible to occur but if used sparingly I cannot honestly see how it could ruin someone's hair. It isn't supposed to be crazy glue!
I mean she gave a reasonable explanation as to why it could have happened to some individuals.. It is rare and might not have happened to you but that doesn't mean it couldn't have happened to anyone else, especially when there are reported documents on it.
I had bald spots in my eyebrows and gaps in my eyelashes for a very long time, but after using castor oil for a week or two, the hairless spots have literally filled in. I'm all for science, but this old wive's tale really works, or at least, it really worked for me.
I’m 55 and I was trying to grow fuller eyebrows so I stoped to remove them about 6 years ago but I saw very little difference. I used castor oil about 8 months ago for a period of 2 months and the hairs grow up. Not as I’ve never touched them, but I’ve definitely saw a big difference. After stopping using the castor oil I was afraid for “loosing” the results but they remain the same. I stoped using it because I’m not consisted in my beauty routine. Your videos inspired me to take care of myself and especially my skin condition. Thank you.
I did not start seeing a significant improvement in my hair growth and density until I started using castor oil, specifically Jamaican Black Castor Oil. I even isolated it to make sure. I think studies will prove this one. It’s highly popular in the black natural hair community.
@@DrDrayzday True!! I've been binge-watching your videos. There's been a significant change. You have ALWAYS been very pretty, in my opinion, but lately, you just GLOW✨✨ with health. You are just stunning, Dr.!💃💃
Well, I like to mix castor oil With coco nut oil and works really great for hair, eyelashes and eyebrows growth and I recommend it to everyone. My eyebrows personally had bold spaces on them, but now they are full because of this mix
I started using castor oil in my Hair, and My Hair is so much more softer and fuller, I think it’s great, I leave it all night yes it’s sticky but once you put in your Hair you don’t feel the stickiness at all, it doesn’t smell either. Im also going to mix it wiht coconut and Almond oil, its very big in Pakistan culture mixing those Oils together
Same. My friends noticed my longer lashes without me telling them I was doing anything. I wonder how do many people see such results and there is no data supporting this.
Wow, interesting statements about Castor oil. I'm a male Biotechnologist and have been using cold pressed Castor oil on my balding scalp (and eczema) for the last four months and my hair definitely has grown back in the patches I've treated. Had the patches for the last two years. It has also worked on my eczema on my forehead and hands. Works much faster on my forehead, but you have to continue treatment or the eczema will return and hair stops growing! Length of time treating the face and scalp nightly and in the mornings is about 10 minutes (20 total). Don't know about eyelash growth. Can only share what I've observed on my own scalp. Definitely doesn't make it look like more hair. New hair growth is present as long as I continue using the product (which sucks). Also treats the FOLLICULITIS on my scalp. Wish there was a shampoo to eliminate all of these scalp problems with daily washing like an organic concentrated Neem shampoo.
@@pfusiontechnologies9715 Body shops Rainforest range. Khaadi aloe Vera shampoo. You can even apply aloevera pulp directly onto the scalp (after castor oil) eave it on for sometime then wash off using regular shampoo. Contains lot of antiinflammatory properties. Thanks!
I butchered my eyebrows as teenager. I had two tiny strips of eyebrows for years because I kept plucking. For the past 2 years I haven't plucked ANY other than the hairs between my brows. It wasnt really growing back but as soon as I apply castor oil I see new hairs the morning after. Ive been using it for a few months now and I actually have some eyebrows now! Still not newly thick enough but it works.
I’ve been using castor oil mixed with a little coconut oil on my lashes nightly for almost a week as they’re pretty badly damaged. I’m not noticing that my lashes are thicker, but I’d be lying if I said they weren’t longer and stronger. I’d also be happy to participate in a study if they were ever done!
I wish people would realize just bc something hasnt been scientifically proven dsnt mean it dsnt work. Have they even done any studies on castor oil and hair? Maybe the have idk.. but studies are often limiting w their own weaknesses. 1 thing could be supported by 1 study and not supported by another study. (Btw i have no claim to castor oil growing my hair. This is a gripe i have w the way research is presented and understood in general.)
Completely agree. I'm originally from Iran, and castor oil has been used for years to grow, and keep, hair/eyelashes/eyebrows. I use it daily on my eyelashes and eyebrows.

I use castor oil on my natural hair especially during the winter months. I can’t tell you that it grows my hair but it certainly keeps it from drying and becoming brittle. I first mist my hair with water/glycerin mix and seal the moisture in with castor oil. I cover with my satin lined night cap. It works for me.
Dr. Dray is the only thing saving me from doing something impulsive to my skin while quarantined 😅 Those viral TikTok videos have been giving me... *ideas* ... 😂
I am using castor oil on a balding spot..I massage it into the scalp not on the actual hair strands and have notuced substantial hair growth in just 2 wks.. I will keep using it.
I don’t think castor oil is for people with fine textured hair like you have... for afrotextured hair which is highly porous and gets dry easily... castor helps to adequately seal in moisture. So to say it can’t help with hair maintenance is not accurate because there are many different hair properties such as porosity, density, thickness of the strands... just a thought
Ikr. Castor oil and jbco is a staple for many in the black hair community. My hair used to drink it right up and seal it in so perfectly. Now shea butter for sealing in moisture works much better for me
I have fine hair and it works for me, it just depends on how you apply it and if you know to apply it. I've read many comments and apparently everyone is using it straight out of the bottle lol 😂 for fine hair the best you can do is dilute it very nicely. I use a 3:1 ratio and it works wonderfully for me
I’ve been using Castor oil for 8months and haven’t noticed a difference at all, so started adding onion in my shampoo and noticed a difference in just a few days. Started growing baby hair as well.
When you say castor oil for hair growth hasn't been substantiated in scientific literature, can you provide a little bit more detail? Has it not been studied, has it been in only a few small studies, or have there been many large double-blind studies which failed to show efficacy?
I did a quick search and couldn't find any studies on it, but I'm not a scientist so take that with a grain of salt. I did find a couple of studies showing peppermint oil and lavender oil were beneficial for hair growth. Hmmm....
@@endtyme1345 from what I've seen in this doctor's videos, she is quite the opposite of only recommending expensive products. Dr. Dray recommends, and even says she herself, uses Vaseline petrolatum which is dirt cheap. She uses mineral oil, which is less than 2 bucks for a huge bottle, to remove her mascara! I went and bought a bottle of mineral oil at Walmart yesterday to do the same--$1.86. She taught me to double cleanse, so my face is *finally* getting some oil now, haha. I'm 61 and was still afraid of oil clogging my pores, I'm embarrased to say. She recommended Albolene cream, so I went to get some at Walmart and guess what, it was marked down on clearance for $5 for a 1 pound jar!! All this makes me so happy on my very tight, small, fixed income. I realize she also uses some higher end products--she is a medical doctor and a RUclipsr and she can afford it, so why not. But, bottom line, she has shown me that I can truly take way better care of my skin, on not a lot of money! I appreciate that a lot!
The point is....for lesser hair like eyelash hair and eyebrow hair... applying directly doesn't affect negatively mostly...but even in india...we or at least my family ladies don't traditionally apply castor oil as an everyday oil...and even as a prewash oil...we mix it with a carrier oil and use.....so matting happens to unfortunate people who don't know how to use it right.....I'm also a beneficiary of the castor oil in growing my hair length....
Dr Dray, I was born with bushy eyebrow and hairy everything. I always afraid to use products with castor oil because everyone mentioning hair growth with castor oil, THANK GOD you cleared things up so I won't be afraid anymore!
On the topic of hair, could you go over *ayurvedic treatments* for hair growth? Such as _neem_ and _amla_ oils? _Henna_ for strengthening hair. They've really grown in popularity over the last few years.
In India they use castor oil for the eyes to keep eyes clear and moist. When I did it religiously my lashes were as long as they were when I used lash serums. I took photos everyday to watch growth. And it actually made my whites of my eyes whiter and my eyecolor a bit more bright. Nothing crazy it was probably cause they were moisturized though I didn't see anything to do with that online.
I use virgin organic cocunut for my hair. Not for growth, but to soften and replenish oils. After I wash it out.. It feels amazing. After years and years of dying and foiling my hair I went to the salon one day and my cosmetologist asked me immediately what I had been using on my hair because it felt and look so healthy. I think organic coconut oil is great as a mask, but not for growth as she says. That's my experience with it. As for castor oil oh, yes, I have put it on a Q-tip and then put it on my eyelashes. It immediately made them feel thicker, but I don't think it really did anything.
I feel that when saying there isn’t scientific evidence to support an idea, it’s important to specify whether it hasn’t been studied, or whether it has been studied and subsequently dismissed. For example, I remember in the 90’s when I asked one of my doctors whether probiotics would be useful for treating an infection. He said that it probably wouldn’t do any good, but it couldn’t hurt either. Fast forward twenty years, and probiotics are routinely used by women to self treat infections. The absence of something from scientific literature is not the same thing as an idea being disproved through study.
dismissed? no....but when patients develop problems from doing stuff that is not evidence based then it is only responsible medicine to caution against it
My eyelashes have definitely grown longer since I started using castor oil 4 weeks back. I use Kate Blanc’s castor oil which was suggested by a RUclipsr, Jennifer Myers. It does work, at least for me anyways.
I've tried castor oil and castor oil mixed with other oils, and I "felt" that it had an effect. lol But the best hair oils are argan oil, jojoboa oil and avocado oil.
I cleaned an old spoolie from a mascara that I finished and used it to brush castor oil and coconut oil through my brows after excessive plucking in middle school. It worked well, but thank you for the video about this subject. It's really interesting to hear you talk about the tricks I've used in the past and whether the oil actually helped or not. Either way, I learned to stop plucking😂
My beautiful, precious dog had a cyst once and I had read about castor oil supposedly dissolving cysts on dogs, so for about 3 weeks I put some on it. The cyst kinda got puffy at about the third week, then suddenly it started shrinking and shrinking and continued to shrink till it totally disappeared.
I have been using castor oil on my brows and eyelashes daily for about four to five months now, the result is pretty obvious. The result isn't obvious the first two weeks, only quite visible after a month of daily use. My eyelashes are longer and eyebrows are longer as well and seem darker now even without castor oil.

I use the closed captions while watching late at night to keep TV the volume down. Some phrases the CC interprets are hilarious - the castor oil plant derivation came across as "resinous communists" 🤣 it's very late and I'm easily amused.
flanamom I heard exactly that too!! I was listening to the video casually while doing something else, so when she said “communis” it did make me pause until I pieced two and two together to figure out it had nothing to do with communists 😅 The Latins used to put their accents on the vowel of the penultimate syllable by default, so it should be “commùnis”, btw.

My eyebrows- oh my goodness! I can attest mixing peppermint (not store bought) and castor oil on the scalp every night does in fact work. I had a bald spot and it grew back quickly and thicker. Pumpkin seed oil (not store bought) also works instead of castor.
Mix it with tea tree and a little coconut and the matting is due to lack of maintenance. My hair dreads up naturally if I don’t brush it and also cut out the start of the matting. Good warm water showers and brushing daily stops this. It’s a lot of work, but this will stop the matting and these women will do this if they want beautiful unmatted hair
@@GardengalAAA Also there are many different types of hair. Some that doesn’t need all of the work and still end up with beautiful dreads. I have had m dreads many times since the 80’s my friend

I have African-American hair if anyone knows anyone of bi-racial, multiracial with African roots we all have some type of curl or wave texture. When I use the castor oil I rub a tiny amount and massage it ONLY on my scalp because hair grows from the scalp and make sure it doesn't get on the hair itself. So, when I do this no matte doesn't get tangled. NEVER put it on the hair put it on the scalp. If I can do this with the world's most exotic hair texture and not get tangles maybe take notes on my technique for those who want the benefits.
From a medical student perspective, I can say that it is a honor to have someone with real knowledge talking about this issues in youtube. I ear a lot of nonsense these days in this platform... Thank you very much Dr. Dray! Stay real and honest! Love your videos!
My mom recommended I use castor oil because I was experiencing thinning hair at my temple areas hairline and to use a silk pillowcase. I noticed my hair was finally growing with the castor oil use & new pillowcase. I told my mom that it was causing awesome re-growth and she explained that it doesn’t, but that the oil lubricates the hair so that it doesn’t break as easily, the silk pillowcase also helped because my temples rub on the pillowcase at night (I sleep on my side) and my hair doesn’t break due to lack of friction on the delicate , smooth silk.
I do think that castor oil plays a role in hair growth....maybe not "a direct role" but more of a secondary one. It's very difficult to discredit it when almost everyone is saying they have had results. I read that Castor oil augments a higher blood flow to the scalp...and that it locks in moisture. So I think castor oil supports hair growth through the elimination of factors that otherwise would keep hair from reaching its fullest potential. Not that I am opposing your statements, I'm just not ruling Castor oil completely out as a beneficial promotor that can help neutralize unfavorable snags that sometimes get in the way.
I've had no issues with castor oil in my hair. It's actually helped my flaky scalp, neck, and face. My eyebrows were thick and dark and I loved that! It kept my very tight, afro curls soft and knot free. I don't have to use much if I use it on damp hair. Just my experience though.
I'm not so sure you should write this one off yet. It's been shown that ricinoleic acid can activate prostaglandin receptors. We know from Latisse that topical prostaglandin analogues can and do stimulate hair growth.

Depending on hair length take 1-2 heaping tablespoons of coconut oil and melt it between your hands, you may have to do this in 2 shots. Cover hair top to bottom with coconut oil and comb through. Then again depending on length take a palm's full of castor oil and put it in your hair top to bottom, rub it into your scalp especially by your hair line and comb through. Tie hair in a braid or in a top knot and sleep in it. I also take Fo-Ti Root which is a Chinese Herb known for keeping hair dark/reversing gray. In my family, my grandma and her siblings were known for forcing spoonfuls of castor oil on anyone who was sick with any random ailment. I think that was pretty common for their generation, at least in rural areas. It was kind of a joke, but we did call it the "cure you or kill you" solution. Years later, when I was able to educate myself I found it amusing that in some forms the castor bean can in fact be deadly.

There are studies that show that castor oil topically generates the increased immune activity in the area where it is applied
Therefore if one has hair loss due to any problems that are a result of inflammation (dandruff , psoriasis etc etc) castor oil will lower inflammation allowing hair growth

I got the littleexrtra reactivate growth serum as a gift for my mom, who had hair thinning. She has seen a significant decrease in hair fall and is happy to see new hairs growing back.
Thank you all your suggestions, as using the combination of cooconioon hair shampoo + reactiivate serum did the work... My hair is growing back
I would love if you talked more about hair conditions... side note As someone who lost their hair I was told to dilute castor oil with jojoba oil and saw hair growth after consistent use in places I hadn’t had hair in YEARS
I have completely changed my skincare routine because of you.
I have used three bottles of reactiivate hair growth serum, and I'm happy to say that my hairs are much better now.
grateful for your suggestion.. I also added reacctivate hair serum plus cocoonnion shampoo, conditioner to my routine. it’s been a month, I can see some positive changes in hair growth on my scalp
Hairgrowth is one of those sensitive topics where it's so easy to be missinformed so thankyou so much for sharing evidence-based information about it.

I've applied coconut and castor oil both unrefined to dogs with alopecia and it does wonders!!!
Thanks for sharing ur recipe & review ! I might just try it !
Just curious, what are your thoughts on castor oil, after 7 months?
@@nataliedegracia3232 I think it's been a key part in growing new hair! I can see an improvement when I look at before and after pictures. I noticed when I stopped using it consistently, I had more hair fall too which is interesting. When I restarted, not long after, I started to see new growth again. I also have been using the Nutrafol hair supplement which I started at some point after starting the castor oil and I think that has also helped. But the castor oil, I started seeing new growth almost immediately. I wouldn't say it's a massive change yet but an improvement for sure and enough to keep me going with it
Thank you good to know . I am planning to put Castor oil, coconut oil and Aloe Vera

I struggle with trich too on the same places and I’ve had the same results
Steph C I have trich on my scalp do you know if it works as well for that area?
Pickled Ginger yeah they all are..that’s why I apply it at night before I go to bed and then wash it off in the morning. I also rub it in for 5 minutes so that’s helps
Zeera P Awesome! It’s great! I mean..until I start pulling again🙄 but it’s nice to see that they can still grow you know?
You are spot on about how devastating hair loss can be. Before menopause I could barely get a brush through my hair, now it is so thin...but healthy. Never bleach or dye my hair. If only Castor oil was the answer it would probably cost $100 an ounce and I would have to decide .....coffee or Castor oil.😱. Great video. Hugs.... Sherry

It isn't supposed to be crazy glue!
crazy glue… on hair… that sounds- familiar 🤠
I mean she gave a reasonable explanation as to why it could have happened to some individuals.. It is rare and might not have happened to you but that doesn't mean it couldn't have happened to anyone else, especially when there are reported documents on it.
Matting comes from poor hair hygiene

Try aloevera based shampoo.

Thank you Dr Dray for always having a scientific perspective! That's how I know I can trust your advice!
I use a 3:1 ratio and it works wonderfully for me
I love that you look so natural on your videos. Id rather take advice from someone that looks natural.

Hmmm....
She provided References under the video.
She provided some sources on the video description that were pretty interesting
I don't know abt studies but women in india have been using coconut oil and castor oil for hair and they work
@@endtyme1345 from what I've seen in this doctor's videos, she is quite the opposite of only recommending expensive products.
Woah that’s so interesting!
Here’s a hint…the eyes are linked to the liver
The absence of something from scientific literature is not the same thing as an idea being disproved through study.
dismissed? no....but when patients develop problems from doing stuff that is not evidence based then it is only responsible medicine to caution against it
Thank you Dr Dray for taking your time to do a video every single day in order to help us ❤️❤️❤️

I can attest mixing peppermint (not store bought) and castor oil on the scalp every night does in fact work. I had a bald spot and it grew back quickly and thicker. Pumpkin seed oil (not store bought) also works instead of castor.
Peppermint??? Like Mint Tea?
Mix it with tea tree and a little coconut and the matting is due to lack of maintenance. My hair dreads up naturally if I don’t brush it and also cut out the start of the matting. Good warm water showers and brushing daily stops this. It’s a lot of work, but this will stop the matting and these women will do this if they want beautiful unmatted hair

Not "everyone "
I've had no issues with castor oil in my hair. It's actually helped my flaky scalp, neck, and face. My eyebrows were thick and dark and I loved that! It kept my very tight, afro curls soft and knot free. I don't have to use much if I use it on damp hair. Just my experience though.
I'm not so sure you should write this one off yet. It's been shown that ricinoleic acid can activate prostaglandin receptors. We know from Latisse that topical prostaglandin analogues can and do stimulate hair growth.
This!!

yes and there is very little money in natural remedies for pharmaceutical companies thus they do not fund studies on them but will for their latest boner pill
Yep! Completely agree. Its almost like its completely irrelevant and I feel like its crap to say the least.
Double blind is the gold standard. Natural remedies don't get to skip a step because it's natural.
Just WOW! that matted hair! Thanks for the info!
I'm in my early 40s and under stress from work. So I had been losing hair both due to stress (telogen effluvium) and aging. I started using regular generic castor oil and Jamaican black castor oil and my lashes and brows appear denser (thicker), 6 months in.
I was just about to put some castor oil on my roots. Found your video so I sat down to watch it. So glad i did. Ive change my mind to NOT use it.😂 Thank you for the video.
I have been using this mix of castor oil almond oil and grapeseed oil and also aloe vera on it’s own and it repaired the skin damage that i had from using harsh product to straighten my naturally curly hair keep in mind i used it moderately and took my time with it and it helped tbh
Thank you for you advice btw
Please provide ratios for each ingredient. Thanks
Everyone is unique in what works for them. I'm all for using more natural remedies with as few artificial chemicals and processing as possible.
Keep in mind that she is not someone who is very interested or supportive in/of holistic health or treatment. So no need to get upset with what she says. Just recognize that she is going to support what she learned in school to become a "non-holistic" dermatologist.
I use black Jamaican castor oil and wow it’s been a few months I’ve truly seen results for my lashes only , they are so much longer now I don’t have to wear falsies . I put some on a spooly and comb my lashes upwards with it !!
Castor oil is a good product for softness, however, my hair didn't seem to grow or get thicker. Good video!
mine did
Mine gets thicker especially when I used argan oil and castor oil mixture, even my eye lashes. I never get to salon to have hair treatments just a hair cut. That's why I'm not afraid and confident to have a short hair cut. It also treat my dandruff.
@@sammyocgirl7411 ...can you tell me the regimen?
@@blippyy4177 Hi I rub into my scalp the night before I shampoo my roots are thicker, now but the ends are NOT I use straight iron every day so its breaking my hair off but what coming out of my scalp is supper thick
@@sammyocgirl7411 ... wow!!! Undiluted?
Idk of you’ll see this, but your intro/greeting just makes me so happy
glad to hear
Dr. Dray please make a video on PRP (platelet-rich plasma) therapy for hair loss is it worth it does it work ? I’m thinking to try it and I’m not sure if it really helps
Every Saturday and Wednesday I massage castor oil into my hair and scalp, and nightly on my brows and lashes. Not going to quit because my hair for some reason is absolutely fabulous
my hair just started growing back and I can't imagine putting that thick oil and rubbing it in, in my mind this will just cause the new fine baby hairs to fall out
Same it’s like you read my mind i think of it like that well I’m not alone
@@Mira-ij9ls yep hair serums seem way more reliable, in this stage, I also don't do any massages and I try to be extra careful while washing and brushing
I've found it is best to dilute the castor oil with other oils because it is so thick! I mix my JBCO with olive oil.,coconut oil, vitamin E and jojoba mixed with essential oils
My hair and eyebrows are definatley growing "faster" since I been using castor oil mixed with coconut oil
Could u pls tell me the ratio of the oils
What do u do to mix
Why is it so hard to spell “definitely” correctly...
@@alcyonae they may be dyslexic or English may not be their first language or maybe they just weren't paying attention to the spelling of it. Who cares
nah •• or maybe the OP is just ignorant. My question is why this is a common spelling mistake.
Since we were growing up our parents use coconut and castor oil in our hair and it did help....let us remember that there are different hair types....Africa hair behaves very different to Caucasian hair......African hair tend to break a lot and dry out because of the natural kinky curls...our hair grows but the problem is retaining the length... Using these oils in moderation has help strengthen our hair and stop breakage so the hair was able to retain the length.... This is the reason why a lot of people testify to the oil growing their hair...The oils strengthen the hair and stop the breakage and split ends
I got my hair botched on the 8th of this month. I have been using Castor Oil and my hair is growing out fast, even my husband noticed. And it’s so soft. I had a fatty tumor on my dog who was not even a year and by the time the vet appointment rolled away the tumor was gone. Edgar Cayce mentioned Castor oil in his readings. My eyebrows are filing in too. So I will continue my Castor Oil!
Coconut oil gives a lot of people skin reactions. Usually, Olive Oil and/or walnut oil is better to mix with to lower its viscosity and just have a mix of different oils.
For hair, I love to mix argan oil with a few drops of clove essential oil. I love the scent and how it makes my thinnish, wavy/curly blonde going grey hair. It helps with the frizz. As far as growth, I have not noticed much thicker hair but it sure feels and smells good! Have just begun using a couple drops of castor oil mixed with different carrier oils like coconut, vitamin E, and/or jojoba on eyebrows, eyelashes and temples where my hair is thinner. We shall see how that helps over time. Menopause is a killer on eyebrows! What's up with that??
Castor oil worked for my brows! And it was only the generic, yellow drugstore type! It regrew hairs I didn't have for a few years from overplucking, but it doesn't work on bold spots that were always there
As for hair, Im using it only on the scalp, for the rest I use coconut oil
I used castor oil for a month and it made my eyelashes grow so long that I had to stop because I couldn’t wear mascara anymore without my eyelashes touching my eyebrows and annoying me 😂
🤣🤣🤣🤣
I don't know if it's sarcasm or if it's true 😃 it did make my lashes longer, but... only my superior lashes.
@@mayamorabito1669 mine too but not that much visible on scalp hair 😔
What a problem to have! Lol
how many times did u use it?
I have been using a mixture of coconut oil, castor oil, (4:1 ratio) and a bit of tea tree oil (3 squirts or 10-15 drops) for about 2 months now. It absolutely has made my hair grow. My temples were practically bald and now they have tons of new hair. Beofre this I bought 3 different hair growth serums and none of them worked and they cost a lot of money. The mixture I make is very cheap and actually works.
wow thanks for letting us know! also i want to make a serum with the things you mentioned, how often should i use it on my hair?? and how long should i let it sit there? overnight?? please let me know!
@@ashleyjudithh I put it on in the evening mainly because the castor oil is really tacky and I didn't want it in my hair during the day. So, if I knew I was washing my hair in the morning I put it on the night before. On the days I didn't use this mix I applied rosymary oil to the spots I wanted hair growth, massaging it into my scalp. t is light and didn't make my hair feel and look icky. The rosemary oil alone worked for me too. Using these things helped more than any hair growth serum I bought and this was a lot cheaper too.
I have been using castor and coconut on my hair for years now and not only did it fix all dryness issues , I haven't seen a split end in years even though I don't cut on the reg, it grows like weeds and I also believe these oils help keep dark hair, dark. I started this in my early 30's, I had 4 gray hairs, I am now 39 and I think I have 3...
And if you want to regrow hair around the hairlines castor oil does wonders for regrowth.
I have all these three issues. Would you please tell me the regimen? I really want to reverse the white hairs I have. Not too many but it seems like they are coming in like crazy recently.
I do this routine to my hair every night and double wash my hair in the AM. I also take Fo-Ti everyday, just 1 pill, Natures Way brand. Hope this helps and I hope you have results! @@blippyy4177
@@mstyles2667 ..oh thank you! You use the castor oil undiluted? There is a woman who did a video on YT eho reversed her white hairs by eating black strap molasses every day.
Hello! I’m 17 and I have a handful of white hairs and acute hair loss that has been going on for over 6 months. I really need help. Do you have any advice?
@@Carolina-rd3gh ..if you have hair loss over 6 months you better get checked for anemia and other stuff. I just bought the shea moisture black castor oil shampoo and used it twice. I hope it works for me
You are absolutely one of my favorites! Thank you for sharing such valuable information.
Can you please do one on pumpkin seed oil? Apparently there’s actually evidence for this.
And maybe rosemary oil too.
a day isn't a day without Dr Dray :)
Lucky you! My great-aunt would make us swallow Vapor Rub and I shouldn't say make us, cuz she never caught me and I would never let on that I was feeling sick around her. Lucky I was one of the younger ones so managed to avoid swallowing some of that stuff! LOL!
@@sable7114 Oh No! Swallowing Vicks vapour rub would be horrendous. My grandmother made us swallow Caster oil, and that was bad enough for me. Vapour rub......Ugh!! Hopefully the older kids survived. lol
Has anyone ever told you that you remind them of Dr. Rhonda Patrick? You don’t necessarily look like or sound alike, but the way you present information feels very similar 👍🏻
Dr. Dray you look radiant in this video!! Thank you for the clarification on Castor oil I see many videos being made about this oil. I have tried this oil but I didn't notice any growth.
