‘My best friend’: Stevie Nicks shares heartfelt tribute to bandmate Christine McVie

- Fleetwood Mac’s Stevie Nicks has penned a heartfelt note to her bandmate and “best friend”, the late Christine McVie, who died aged 79 on Wednesday.
“A few hours ago, I was told that my best friend in the whole world since the first day of 1975 had passed away. I didn’t even know she was ill until late Saturday night,” Ms Nicks said in a handwritten note shared on social media.
Ms McVie was Fleetwood Mac’s co-lead vocalist, keyboardist and songwriter who was responsible for some of the band’s most loved songs, including Little Lies, You Make Loving Fun, Everywhere and Don’t Stop.

I saw her perform in the late sixties when she was Christine Perfect and was playing with Chicken Shack. She was great then and stayed great through a long and amazing career. God bless and thank you..

Each band mate has their own style, but the way this group jelled...the good and bad times they shared...the emotional pain they endured...The music produced as a result cannot be matched, and will live forever...
Understated; under-rated. But her greatest talent lay in dealing with fame and fortune.

I have loved Christine from afar since she first appearance on the Mac's Bare Trees record in 1972. She was an extraordinarily gifted songwriter, musician and vocalist. Her low alto voice could evoke such emotion. Her passing has hit me as hard as anyone I have ever known personally. RIP Chris, I love and miss you terribly already. Maybe you can start a new band with Peter Green and Danny Kirwan.
What a great group, the 70's was a golden time for music.
R.I.P., Christine McVie. As an accomplished accordion player, I always admired your out of this world musical gifts. Be it on piano, accordion or whatever keyboards you were playing your natural talent always rose above most anyone around you. Even tambourine and maracas, you were the Queen.
Vocal and instrumental talents that were not just the level of many others in your industry, you had the polished talents and abilities of one who had studied and learned music as her craft. Perhaps in the background more often but with the obvious lack of need to be the star of the show. For anyone who knows music, Christine was the star of the women, and enjoying playing her parts to perfection was all she needed. Her ability to sing such exquisite harmonies, again the best part of their songs.
May all your family, loved ones, friends and bandmates {the later 2 being 1 and the same} grieve as you need to ... recollect the good times you were lucky to have with her and take from her all the lessons her wisdom brought you.
