- 2020 taught me a lot about my spending habits and where I should be spending my money. In the past, I could be a frivolous shopper who went for the cheap items instead of investing in one or two quality pieces. So, this year I tried to change that. So from Ayla's crib to a Peloton bike, here are a few of my 2020 splurges.

Happy 2021 everyone! I originally posted this video a few days ago, but quickly unlisted it because the initial comments made me feel bad. It probably won’t get many views now that I made it public again, but I decided to put it out there because one of my goals for the year is to stop feeling bad about my hard work and success. I realize “splurges” sounds like I purchased some really frivolous stuff, but the point of the video was that most of the things I got had meaning. I know we’re in a hard time. I don’t forget that, and even when I wasnt as successful, I made sure to give back. I truly believe the universe gives you back the energy you put into it. Let’s be positive this year because we collectively need it. ❤️

In 2020, I learned to stop playing small to let others feel better about themselves. Indeed we’re in difficult times...but we have a choice on how we’ll let these challenging circumstances impact our attitude and level of resiliency. Please continue to share yourself and your life.

First just wanna say I recently “discovered” you and i simply love your videos and reviews! Second...please please don’t feel bad for splurging! You worked hard for this and you deserve it! I did splurge this year on an expensive Gucci bag which i saved up months, actually almost a year to get it! I feel that we should reward ourselves from time to time as we work for it and it’s just nice to spend a bit more sometimes.

Everybody hating that this video is unnecessary needs to remember that Susan didn’t grow up with money. She had to work hard to reach the career trajectory she’s at now (which is inspiring!). I’m sure many of us would like to do the same one day and be able to give back to ourselves and our families.
Exactly, she was never handed anything and I find her story and life in general so inspiring. Plus she’s so down to earth and can laugh at herself. We would never ask a man to explain or defend his successes so I don’t understand anyone being negative. Let the girl shine! 💖

I wish when people made you ever feel bad you knew there’s a whole army who are behind you! You know who you are and you deserve to show us how you are as a mama and just what you do for yourself as a woman. Love you Susan. People need to remember that these aren't considered "splurges" to other RUclipsrs, so the fact that Susan considers them splurges make her more relatable (in my opinion)

Happy for you! I remember my first splurge after I started working as a nurse and was able to finally afford a luxury item. It was such a proud moment for me. It wasn’t just about the item. It was the fact that I studied my butt off through nursing school got a job and I really worked for it ! Especially coming from a single mother home growing up in the Bronx . I was proud of myself and you should be too!
she’s literally a brand owner... ofc she’s going to be able to afford nicer things and never did she come across as bragging or making fun of others who had difficult financial situations in 2020. We all fr just need to be nicer to each other this year

I got a Peloton too! I’m not a bike person, but I feel like I’m starting to really enjoy something other than running. I also like that I don’t have to go to a gym. I can be at home with it and take classes without driving. Especially during COVID. CONGRATULATIONS!!

I've been working too hard and so much overtime in 2020 since March. I decided that I would treat myself in 2020 lol. I got myself a Nintendo Switch lite and I don't regret it! I also invested in a good down jacket and hiking boots for the winter!
It’s ok to buy nice things that spark joy for yourself or your family with money you have worked hard to earn. I live in a rented condo building and I saw a peloton being delivered, so they’re affordable if that’s what you want to buy. I love your aesthetic Susan so keep showing us this type of content! Happy for you 💕

my top splurges this year was a new couch and fancy bedding :) I also finally got myself a nice pair of boots and a staple winter coat, since I live in the midwest it was essential and something I always put off. i agree with you susan, I did begin to think about my spending my habits differently this year. I made sure that I was spending my money on things I could appreciate, get use out of, and care for properly.
Hey Susan. You can use soap on the cast iron pan. If seasoned properly, the oils form a chemical bond to the pan which you can't easily remove with just gentle soap and water. I re-seasoned my cast iron pan when I bought it. A good seasoning requires multiple coats (5-6) and mine wasn't that great so I re-did it. But don't listen to the old wives tale about not washing your pan.
Such a great message of investing in quality items that you love and will use! We splurged on a really nice mattress and I also bought a quality enameled cast iron pot.
I got myself a portable washer and spin dryer. My apartment has no hookup nor onsite facilities for laundry. The idea of going back to the public laundromat during the pandemic gave me the skeeves worse than normal. I prayed and searched high and low until I found this system. It's not perfect but it works and I'm so grateful. I also got myself a sauna blanket.😊

Have NO shame in choosing high quality products especially the things that will make you feel good in these crazy times! Glad you reposted this video! And I love the Peloton as well! Look into the whole app on your phone- even if I don’t ride bike a lot, I do their guided outdoor walks, Pilates, and lots of stretches, light weights! Happy New Year!

I couldn’t bring myself to buy a Peloton, but I’d did buy a really nice (and affordable) spin bike, a Bluetooth cadence monitor and subscribed to the Peloton app so I’d say that was a budget conscious splurge that I really enjoy! And of course I spent too much on makeup and skincare during the lockdown as well because well.. Susan, Hyram, Kathleen Lights and RawBeautyKristi..

Susan!! What are your thoughts on the Trader Joes Ultra Hydrating Gel Moisturizer? I love it but never hear people talk about it! It's fragrance free and some of the fantastic ingredients include: squalene, green tea extract, aloe, glycerin, lactobacillus ferment, sodium hyaluronate, propanediol, sunflower seed oil, coconut fruit extract, milk thistle, birch leaf extract, olive extract, panthenol, and vitamin c.
I'm very confused why people has to chastise Susan and others for splurges purchases. 1) they are helping the economy (that is whar I tell to myself lol) and 2) it's her money!! And 3) nobody is getting force to watch this video. Anyway, Go Susan! Let the haters hate.

I have found with 2 kids that my other half gets chance to exercise but i dont get any time for me really. Some days just getting myself dressed after sorting the kids out it hard work. I have dumbells that havent been used in months.

If you think she doesn’t deserve to spend her money in the way that she does then the universe will decide her consequence not you. If you think she deserves to spend her money the way that she wants ...guess what... the universe will decide her reward not you. We all need to uplift one another and if we can’t then we need to look at ourselves and figure out what needs to be fixed in our own lives. 🙂
Get a second cast iron pan - you can rotate them or cook in bulk when you’re entertaining. We use ours so much!

Please also do not forget how people--or some people fell in love with her in the first place. Is it because she was a brand owner? She can afford all the luxury and most expensive products in the market? and received all the free stuff? No, people liked and subscribed to her because she suggested practical, necessary, and helpful products that fit people's needs. I guess being "poor" just be easy to be labeled as "hate" people. Nice done. Nobody denies she or anybody deserves good stuff. But those products are real "spreading positives"?

@@serenity8910 exactly! And these purchases don’t even seem like impulse purchases which I think can be bad sometimes. For ex I wanted AirPods Pro in March 2020 but I didn’t buy until October 2020 until I knew 💯 I wanted to buy it.
