If I were a borrower a glove would be so useful , for making small articles of clothing…socks, under ware, tank tops from the fingers, or pillows and the body could be sheets….a knit pair of gloves could be made into a winter sweater or blanket, leather gloves for shoe making , or a squirrel saddle, or a very sturdy hammock…..😊 I loved the borrowers….your crafting is so sweet , thanks for sharing.✨p.s. paper clips are easier to make hangers……and for your kitchen, small tea tin with the top and side cut out, wood or coal inside and a piece of screen for the top of the bbq…..champagne cage tops for chairs, buttons for plates, a saucer on a spool for a table, metal measuring spoons for pots ( handles cut) acorn mugs, toothpaste tops for cups, glass salt seller w/ spoon for serving, a crystal toothpick holder for a vase…..I think I need to build something✨……toodles! Can’t wait for you next video! 😊
Your sweet voices and calming chit-chat make this channel a healing place! I wish I could turn back time and spend my daughter’s childhood all over again. There would be a lot more time spent enjoying her company! You’re blessed to have these moments together, and I’m blessed by your sharing 😊
I think this is a cunning plan. It's so relaxing that I fall asleep and wake up and it's over so I watch it again, I fall asleep and wake up, rinse and repeat.
Best books ever! I was obsessed as a little girl, and made a house in my bottom drawer for borrowers! My brother wrote little notes ont tiny paper, and mover furniture around, so for a long time a believed we might just possibly have borrowers! When i got back from summer camp, he had left a not saying they had gone off traveling, and would remember me always. Best older brother ever.
I don’t think that your creations are overcrowded. Please continue to be your wonderful selves. ♥️♥️♥️ Definitely and most importantly, these are treasure-troves… an expression not used to describe an orderly and clinical display of a collection. If you were creating a space for a child to use for play, of course, that would be completely different (not to mention so many things being lost). Or if you were accurately re-creating a historical space for a museum, there’s no space for the inhabitants to move around, so it would be unrealistic. However, that’s not what you are doing. You are creating amazing spaces to display the amazing things you make, find, purchase and are given. To “spread them out” as some might wish, you would need innumerable dollhouses (which I suspect could be the destination where you’ll end up anyway). For the visitor, these are not spaces to be glanced at. These are spaces to explore with your eyes. To discover on the next visit something you didn’t notice last time. Thank you for taking the time and effort to film not just your creations, but your creative process! ♥️
I think I’m going to leave a message on all my other sites, the appropriate ones, to send people here. I watch some crafting sites and think some is there watchers would appreciate your miniature world😊. Let’s get you to 25K or 50K!
You 2 are so lucky to have each other. My momma died when I was 9 and Id give anything to hold her hand again. Please cherish these times together. Theyre so special. Thank you for sharing your world to us. Youre so creative and your cat is a cutie too. 😊 Much ❤ from Nashville TN USA 🇺🇸
I’m only half way in and this is, without a shadow of doubt, the bestest most perfect and fabulous thing ever in the history of the world. I love you two women and all you stand for.
😍I find that the most interesting people are what I call "people of clutter". Their homes are full of wonderful things that they love, often (many) animals, and they will welcome you into their home and tell you to perch where you can for a cookie or a tea any time. And they never worry that there's a bit of fur or some dust, because we are all just dust anyway. I love that there is something to look at everywhere you look in your miniatures. And I love your lovely channel. Happiest of Holidays!
The Borrowers was a book we read in school. Our teacher would read aloud to us after lunch break. That was in the late 70s and I think I need to read it again.
Nothing as delightful as the Borrowers. At 66 I have the full collection of books. I think it would be lovely to take the safety pin ladder her father used to climb and stick it in the uppermost floor with the rope hanging down. This has to be my favorite project you’ve done thus far! Time to sit down and reread the series to get ideas.
I'm also 66 and have the full series. I also remember Pod's hat pins with the ribbons which helped him climb things, and the half scissor. Spiller borrowed some of these from the hole in the bank in Borrowers Afield when they lived in the boot.
Oh, please don't stop adding all of the beautiful little detail you put into all of your works! I love a nice, cozy, busy little room with so many things to see!!
This is so lovely. I’m 76 now and live in Belfast with my family, I did live in Devon when I was 9-12 yrs and near to where Mary Norton lived. I have loved the Borrowers and still have my set of books. Still, to this day, I can be heard saying, “this wd do for Spiller,Pod etc”. Funny enough, of all the beloved books I read to my children and grandchildren, none of them ever got ‘into’ my precious family. Another book that you may have read is The Indian in the Cupboard, if not please hunt it down. You will adore this story in miniature but which comes alive. Things that you cd maybe look for are a half scissor for Pod, fine string with knots tied in it for grappling ropes and a ground down fish hook for the end of the rope. Don’t forget, they borrowed everything before the Boy gave them the Doll’s house furniture but then they had to live from scratch when they went to live ‘Afield’. Precious and beautiful memories of my childhood.
letters to wallpaper their room, postage stamps to hang on their wall, and old chess pieces that they use as statues are all things I found that borrower's like to borrow.😂 matchboxes for dressers and trinket boxes for furniture.
I do live the inventiveness of the Borrowers, repurposing and reusing lost or “borrowed” things. I loved how in the Studio Ghibli film they used a flowerpot as a brick oven, and a dragonfly wing as a quill pen! So cool to see how y’all interpret what a Borrower house would look like. 😄❤️I definitely think some of your Mudlarking finds would make a fantastic kitchen. Seashell dishes and bottle cap pie tins? Can’t wait to see what y’all make!
I'm 70 years old and have never heard the story of the Borrowers. I have dyslexia so I'll look it up for audio books. Thank you so much for sharing this adorable project. It's so very precious! Thank you also for including Mr. Sonny Cat. He is just too stinkin' cute. I have a kitty that looks just like him. His name is Dusty. I hope you have a blessed Christmas and perhaps you'll get another video out before then. My favorite ladies on RUclips. ❤ xx
The borrowers were a BBC series too, I estimate in like, the early nineties, so I wonder if it would be possible to stream it from somewhere, or even go treasure hunting for the dvd boxset? (Or, dare I admit that I am THIS old?) On Vhs, to commit to dvd?)
there was a movie made in the 90s (i think) with John Goodman, as well. ❤ #xcellent story, I hope you find a version to enjoy. I may look for an audiobook too, now that you mention it- Have a re-read after all this time. 😊
I love the way you are kind and let Sunny cat “help”! He is so cute with his tongue hanging to the right! 😆 You are both so creative. I love the Borrowers clock, what a great idea! Fleur you have created a wonderful life for and relationship with your kiddos. God bless
please fill the teacup with knitting and craft supplies, right now it seems like a chamber pot! i love what you've done, and really enjoyed your kitty purring, it made me so happy!
Love love your work! The Borrowers was one of my most favourite books when I was a child. I am now nearly 72! Your channel takes me right back to an innocent time in my life, when imagination was all! Thanks so much 💐
I’m sure I have some Borrowers in my home, so many things go missing! Your little clock rooms are precious! Please don’t take any notice of the criticism, 99% of us love the cluttered rooms!! 💕
Oh wow! I haven’t heard about the Borrowers since I was a kid. Growing up in California, I loved when we had the Book-Mobile come to my school and picking books I wanted to read and watching the 1970s t.v. movie, The Borrowers. I might look for that book to give to my nieces to read. 😁
Cat purring.....lovely touch...... the cup looks like a gozunda in the bedroom..... do you remember the little wall shelves we used to have with random treasures called 'joy boxes' in the 1950'1960's ? That's what this reminds me of...
I’m 76 now and have been reading ‘The Borrowers’ books since they were first written. I live in Belfast but I used to live in Devon, near to where Mary Norton lived. I will still see some little ‘thing’ and think to myself “that would be ideal for Pod to carry home for Homily and Arriety”. Don’t forget that this family got their name from the Grandfather clock, they didn’t actually live in it but their entrance was through the worn down tile where the clock stood. I loved all of the books and still do, if I’m feeling unwell or worried about something, a few pages from Borrowers Afield will take me to that happy place where only Borrowers aficionados know about. I enjoyed your work on the clock house and didn’t see one thing that I thought was out of place for a Borrower. Lovely, thankyou. Do you have an address that I could post something to you? I’ve got a few ‘tiny’ things that I would love you to have before I throw off this mortal coil. Precious things that deserve a precious new home where they will be loved……. (And maybe found by Clock relatives or Wainscots…… who knows).
How completely charming! I loved those books when I was a girl, but haven’t read them for probably 50 years. Time to pull them out again! I was so surprised to see “Minnesota” on something related to cigarettes. They must have had all of the states (“collect them all!”), because geographically, Minnesota is about as far north from cigarette production as one can get. 🙂
I also love the cuttered look, I believe its like surrounding yourself with happy memories, that your eye falls across occasionally and reminds you of a pleasant time in your past.
I loved watching you transform the clock case. Your creativity is amazing and inspiring. I found my borrowers book and intend to read it! Thank you and hope to help raise your numbers!
I’m searching frantically for a perfect Borrowers home. Scouring antique centres/shops etc but meanwhile am gathering adorable things so that I’m ready to play. It’s half the fun anticipating but also frustrating. It’s so tempting to actually ‘borrow’ from my dollhouses. Anyway can’t wait for next instalment you lovely people who make watching one of the most relaxing therapeutic activities and not just for children but for oldies like myself. Love to you both and a kiss for Sunny? Sonny cat who loves to be in on the act especially if there is an interesting whiff.
I would not call it over cluttered at all! My dollhouses are stuffed full...that gives them so much character, charm, story, motion. Keep doing what you are doing! Also, I cannot express enough how much I enjoy that you are a mother and daughter team. My mom has passed on and she and I always enjoyed any crafty thing we did together. This makes me miss her and remember her so fondly. May you both be blessed in all you do.
Oh, how wonderful! I have just shared The Borrowers with my 7 year old grandson. He is an absolute believer in their existence, along with the bwbach who lives in the old part of our ancient house and plays tricks on us. I will replay this video for him after school on Monday and know Sonny's pure will be a bonus for him as Binkie, his own kitten, kept us company as we read.
You guys have the best 'junk' - ephemera and bits! And there's no such thing as 'over cluttering' a dollshouse. It's like 'left over cake'... it just doesn't happen.
I love this project!!!! I read The Borrower's years ago as a child and was enamored of it right off. As a child in a poor family myself, I made accessories for my Barbie dolls out of found items too. Many Kleenex boxes were made into Barbie beds!! By the way, the Minnesota rug was a sweet surprise!! I live in Austin, Minnesota!! It is the birthplace if Spam!!! I will have to re-read The Borrowers again now!!❤🥰🥰🥰
Rewatching this on the 1st February. It's just as good the second time around. Don't forget Pod's hatpin and borrowing bag for the next episode, and his half scissor.
I enjoy all the dolls houses you make, but the ones you decorate with "found" stuff or mudlark finds are by far my favourite!! The Borrowers are the ideal setting I guess. Love it!🥰🇳🇱
So lovely to hear the precious purrs too. I miss my cats so much that just hearing the purrs and seeing Pussy's sweet little tongue sticking out and nosing into everything reminds me of their love.
YeahMan!!! The Borrowers were also a childhood favorite of mine - over 60 years ago!!! I was thoroughly charmed then, and this video brought back those same feelings!!! Too cluttered? There is no such thing in miniature world!!!!! I think the purring enhances your zen-like process. Thanks for a very pleasant slice of time! ☮️❤️
L O V E this project idea! At 70, I had never heard of this story by Mary Norton! I am now aiming to get myself the series! Thank you for the introduction! 🧵Fleur and Kate, with your fantastic imaginations, I cannot wait to see what you come up with! ❤❤
Me neither bethbranson! Now I must go find the books. I've love miniatures all my life, and at 66 I just started decorating a giant dollhouse I purchased years ago. I'm having such a great time❤ I love that I found this channel!
This. Is. Mine!! The borrowers? My very first step into faeries and small, and (as a verrrrrrry young girl) leaving tiny things out HOPING that the little's and the borrowers and the fairies would like. Along with that entire world. Ralph mouse and the little people... My heart has ALWAYS been there for them. And still is, with no shame and no excuses. It is what it is.
Sunny would have had me hooked in with his soothing purr, even if you hadn't made me blissfully enthralled with the Borrowers theme. That was one of my favorite storybook series as a child, because what child is not a scavenger/forager/Borrower at heart? Or, what mudlarker, for that matter? You have both nailed the tastes and characters of Arietty and Homily, perfectly. I'm even jealous of your artfully lithographed sardine tin. We don't see such exotic tins on this side of the pond, alas. I can hardly wait to see the kitchen and parlor, and Pod's ingenious tools of trade! Brava, ladies! Well done!
Loved the books, and I remember saying "The borrowers took it" when something was displaced. I've been looking for an old wooden clock to do this, and I might just do my own borrower's house.
@@pbonniejean as soon as I can find a clock! I loved the Borrowers books. I think my Mom read them at some point too, but not sure when. It was a long time ago. 😀
@@Hippiechick11 I first read them in school, the first one. I later bought them for my daughters bedtime stories, and then my grandkids. They're now being read to my great grands! I'm 73 years young.
Nothing I have ever watched on T.V. or on the Internet has provoked such a calming, child-like intrest in my soul as this video. I've newly subscribed, and I just wanted to let you know that this is the best ever
Never heard of the book, but I love British literature. You have such talent and wonderful taste, just love your miniatures. I have a vintage wind up(30day )clock, it is one of my treasures .💕
The borrowers were my favourite to play as a child. I spent hours building little homes for them out of anything I could find. I never stopped looking for things that might be useful to them😂❤
I forgot to add- it came out PERFECT- just I'd imagine a borrower's home to look! The sardine can bed from Morocco was my favorite, and I love seeing the vintage sewing notions put to use that way.
I just love all your little finds. Reminds me when I was little and stayed with my Nana. She had all of these types of things. I just love how you put it all together.
One of my absolute favourite childhood books, loved my children, it's appeal is never-ending! Your Borrowers clock home is enchanting and so reminiscent of the books. Watching your videos is like stepping into a magical world, I can't thank you enough! x
"...beauty in the broken bits..." Yes I agree; that is the charm of these projects... (what a fitting motto for life.)
I think this is a cunning plan. It's so relaxing that I fall asleep and wake up and it's over so I watch it again, I fall asleep and wake up, rinse and repeat.
Absolutely loved the borrowers books as a child, don't think any of the films lived up to them.
Best books ever! I was obsessed as a little girl, and made a house in my bottom drawer for borrowers! The best compliments are "your home is so warm and welcoming"...
ABSOLUTELY ADORABLE... I CANT Actually imagine the Littles in these sweet little rooms. Thank you for sharing* LOVE from IDAHO USA, Julie
Having Sonny cat in the videos is always such a bonus! Love hearing his purr! ❤
I have always loved this book! You two are rather like the borrowers yourselves, aren't you? This is brilliant!
Yes, you hit the nail right on the head with this remark -they are just like borrowers.
So very wonderful! Thank you

Bobby pins would make excellent curtain rods. Bottle caps for pie tins. Beads as balls. Spent matches as logs to burn
& a match to make a broom

I enjoy all the dolls houses you make, but the ones you decorate with "found" stuff or mudlark finds are by far my favourite!! The Borrowers are the ideal setting I guess. Love it!🥰🇳🇱
So lovely to hear the precious purrs too. I miss my cats so much that just hearing the purrs and seeing Pussy's sweet little tongue sticking out and nosing into everything reminds me of their love.
Spectacular
I'm having such a great time❤
I love that I found this channel!
This. Is.
Oh, I hope you will!@@Hippiechick11
@@pbonniejean as soon as I can find a clock! I loved the Borrowers books. I think my Mom read them at some point too, but not sure when. It was a long time ago. 😀
@@Hippiechick11 I first read them in school, the first one. I later bought them for my daughters bedtime stories, and then my grandkids. They're now being read to my great grands! I'm 73 years young.
@@pbonniejean that is wonderful!
Nothing I have ever watched on T.V. or on the Internet has provoked such a calming, child-like intrest in my soul as this video. I've newly subscribed, and I just wanted to let you know that this is the best ever
This is so incredibly Cute!! I love The Borrowers,, I will have to watch the movie again now!! Thank you and Greetings 👋
I'm so glad to hear that your quality control inspector is in the room and is hard at work!
Just fantastic ladies🎉 love the Borrower's!
Don't forget to add a thimble with stuffing and a pretty cover for a seat. Love your creativity.
I loved the Borrowers books! I can't tell you how many hours of my life have been spent imagining borrowers living in my house.
Oh what a joy to see and hear Sonny again! I've missed him ever so much! I absolutely, positively love this project! It is wonderful!!!!❤
Never heard of the book, but I love British literature. You have such talent and wonderful taste, just love your miniatures. I have a vintage wind up(30day )clock, it is one of my treasures .💕
Her room turned out exactly the way mine did as a child. This brings me back to my most beloved and peaceful memories ❤
Happy early Birthday Fleur.
Borrowers are maximalists for certain ❤ Great job!!!
I just love all your little finds. Reminds me when I was little and stayed with my Nana. She had all of these types of things. I just love how you put it all together.
Thank you so much :)
One of my absolute favourite childhood books, loved my children, it's appeal is never-ending!
Your Borrowers clock home is enchanting and so reminiscent of the books.
Watching your videos is like stepping into a magical world, I can't thank you enough! x
Enjoyed. More is better 🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩💖💖💖
Wonderful setting for new adventures for the Clock family.
Lovely to see Sunny Cat again.
Such a corker.
Great show today!❤
I'm half way into the video. I think the borrowers would make a chest of drawers with matchstick boxes.
Absolutely Charming ❤
This was fantastic ❤️❤️ my favorite book and my favorite artists 🥰🥰🥰
Absolutely love the barrowers
Fantastic just so imaginative loved reading the borrowers
I can’t even express how lovely it was watching this. It made me feel cozy and Christmasy. Thanks.
