MCU already did amazing developments for both Captain America and Starlord. I can see them doing something similar to Scott, allowing him have a well writtern arc through the films.
The best direction they could take the character, in my opinion would be this
1st film - Starts with Scott origin, with him losing his parents, awakening his powers and meeting Xavier, who offer him a place where he can learn to control his abilites. From that the film could become a mix of Cobra Kai and MHA, with Scott and Xavier recruting the other members (maybe the First Class line up), with Scott being choosen to lead them. At first he could start a bit reserved and insecure but slowly bond with his team (specially Jean Grey) and become more confident leader.
2nd film - Introduce Logan and show the beginning with his rivalry with Scott, now having to deal with someone who challenges his authority but, by the end Logan comes to respect him as leader.
3rd film - Introduce a big threat that would make the X-men and the Brotherhood team up, with Scott being the one who inspires both Xavier and Magneto to work together, acting as the link and balance between both ideologies.

If you've followed Avengers where the Red Scull stole the professor's brain to gain Onslaught's powers , Rogue began to lead the way the professor would! She show stratigic maneuvers we'd expect from Captain America and Charles Xavier! She took over and lead the pack in stopping the Red Scull's mad plans! Your point about Emma Frost helping Scott move forward and leave Jean out of the picture could be a way to differentiate from MCU & Fox films. Cyclops is the leader of Marvel's Special Forces Unit Team called the X-MEN. (similar to like SEAL TEAM6). He's your typical captain with a "leave no man behind" mentality. Being forced to abandon Morph is Cyclops's PTSD. It's because of this trauma that leads him to being the ultimate leader on the battlefield even surpassing Captain America in this department. No one trains harder and more often in the Danger-Room than Cyclops. With repeated VR battle scenarios fought over and over again, Cyclops studies both his squad members & his opponent's skills, weaknesses and limits. With the aid of Cerebro, he is able to download the recorded fight data into his visor/display to assist him and co-ordinate his team in an actual fight scenario. Cyclops already knows the outcome of a fight before it's even started because he has fought it as many times as it took to win it. If Cyclops can remove Wolverine's adamantium hand clean off with a single shot and punch a hole through a mountain using his optical blast, then it proves he fights holding back more often than both Spider-Man and Captain America. I know you know what uncle Ben says.... And that's why Cyke leads the X-MEN...Que Theme.

Scott Summers needs and deserves to be the main focus of the MCU X men franchise. He's such a more interesting character then people give him credit for. Cyclops isn't just any X man he's the FIRST X Man , the original, the golden boy. But being the first is both an honour and burden as he not only has to live up to Xavier's expectations but his ideals of coexistence and Pacifism. Which isn't easy as he's on the front lines with Magneto where he see's how terrible and cruel humans Treat mutants. Scott has to resist the urge to go full Magneto to set a good example for the X men and mutant kind. He also knows if he makes 1 bad call the X men could all end up and the mutant race could go extinct. To cope with all this pressure and to compensate for his lack of control of his powers. Cyclops makes sure to always be prepared, he makes sure to always stay in peak physical condition and to have plans on top of plans.

I’m a writer and I have been attempting to write a story for Cyclops. One thing I am focusing on is how his powers are used. The movies focus too much on him just firing his blasts straight forward but they ignore to take into account that as a great strategist and tactical leader, someone of such a title would consider the different unique possibilities of how his powers are used in a fight.
In writing, you have to make a few attributes of characters in line with how they cope with something. In my writing for cyclops, I made it so that his favorite time in the day is nighttime. Why? Because that is the time when it’s time to sleep. Now you think that something like that is insignificant but it is actually deeper than you think. Besides the burden of his role as a leader weighing down on him, having to always keep his powers in check every second of everyday can weight on him too. There is nothing better than keeping his power in check than having to sleep where his eyes would always be closed.

Another thing to add about Cyclops is he has a very militaristic leadership style and he's very emotionally distant due to his workaholic tendencies. He's spends hours training in the Danger room and working out every morning. He's also spends his time rewatching fight data from the danger room and the X men's missions. To learn from his mistakes and to analysis other mutants powers to find possible weaknesses he even has contingency plans for his own teammates. His workaholic nature is his way of coping with the responsibility of leading the team and his insecurities. He's not an Omega level mutant like storm and can't control his powers. Cyclops also knows if he makes 1 mistake 1 bad call his team could not only fail but all end up dead and without the X men the mutant race would go extinct. To cope with this pressure and compensate for his lack of control he makes sure to always be prepared. He always makes sure to stay in peak physical condition and always have plans on top of plans and expand the full versatility of his powers. Scott isn't good with expressing his feelings with words so he shows how he cares with his actions.

You made many great points in your video. I agree Cyclops has been underused, incorrectly portrayed and disrespected in all the video projects I have seen. I have been a Scott Summers fan since my first issue of X-Men. I once attended SDCC and went to a panel about writing the X-Men comics. I asked them why is was that Cyclops was never portrayed correctly in any of the movies and TV shows. All the writers looked at each other, up and down the panel, and finally one said, "Because we weren't asked to write the screenplays." Disney, get the people who know, and respect, the source material to write your X-Men movies. Then maybe, just maybe, you can turn around this train wreck that is now the MCU.

Another thing I set out in my cyclops story: His use of his powers. These film directors fail to make cyclops utilize his powers in unique ways; something that would be expected of a leader who would find every useful scenario efficient in use of his powers. As a leader and tactician, Cyclops usually studies his opponents and deciphers a method to defeat them. The use of his powers would be useful in how the environment is layer out. For example, his powers would be useful in a location where there are metal objects nearby to allow him to ricochet his blasts off of while fighting in, let’s say a forest, his ricocheted blasts would be useless. Why? A forest is usually comprised of trees and soil; no ways the blasts would ricochet off of such an environment. Cyclops would take into account the environment of the battle field of how his blasts can be utilized best to ensure victory.
Let’s say the floor was made of steel. If a cyclops was fighting, let’s say Wolverine, Cyclops would run straight at Wolverine, making the latter believe that Cyclops was going for a straight up charge attack but as cyclops is running towards him, he performs a jump and at that split second after he jumps, he fires a short but powerful optic blast on the ground that propelled him higher in the air, catching Wolverine off guard. See how the environment plays a huge part in usage of his powers? This jump was only possible because the ground was made of steel allowing the optic blast to lean against it. Such a jump would be impossible if used in a forest because the forest’s ground is made entirely of soil, of earth. The best such a blast can do in a forest is create a tunnel to travel underground.

Disney MCU Cyclops maybe should take place after Jean is gone because her character like Wolverine has so much expectation on it. People aren't ready to immediately see someone new as Wolverine he should show up in later X-Men movies after one or two films come out. Jean Grey character is always so heavily associated with the Phoenix and I don't want to see another Dark Phoenix adaptation. I picture a good introduction scene for Scott being him as a kid, playing (and beating) 10 other people at Chess simultaneously; while reading a history on the campaigns of Alexander. As overwhelming as his optic blasts can be, that mind of his is the real strength. The levels of organization and spatial reasoning required to be able to do what he does in the comics, would make his brain as much a marvel (no pun intended) as Reed or the Hanks (small wonder the telepaths all love him). That's where I'd like to see them concentrate in the movies, as Scott Summers not just the team leader, but a potential Augustus Caesar to his people.

But when I started reading comics and watching X-Men Evolution…I realized we were lied to. Scott is THE X-Man. A blend of Magneto’s assertive (aggressive) action and Charles Peaceful (Passive) ideals. I thought his powers were lame as well, but when I learned how he uses it, it changed my mind entirely. It also helped to learn he’s skills of geometry surpassed even Captain America’s, making his usage of his optic blasts way cooler. His leadership and skill with tactics have never fully been displayed in outside media. He’s not perfect at all, but he’s not the stale bread they had us think he was, and he’s not the monster some comics had us think he was too. They need to nail him in the movies.

His eyes can still burn things just not in the traditional sense that lasers do or whatever “heat ray vision” is. His eyes are of concussive kinetic force/energy, so he CAN burn things through FRICTION. So his eyes burning things still make lots of sense. Basically, his optics beams will first punch you, and if you havent been knocked to team rocket blasting off again, then heat will accumulate and start to get hotter&hotter, burning whatever through heat from friction. So his beams should just literally blast away whatever until it doesnt and then burn its way through with heat accumulation.

Cyclops "heel turn" into a Magneto type character wasn't him turning evil. It was him losing the naivety of his youth and realizing exactly what a world that hates and fears him just for existing truly looks like. It started with his possession by Apocalypse, but the breaking point was the murder of so many mutant and former mutant children under his watch. He realized his son's more militant view of the world was correct. And while it can be argued that Cyclops took it too far, it can also be argued that he didn't take it far enough. Magneto DEFINITELY took it too far, because genocide is NEVER justifiable. Xavier is far too soft, period. Cable was almost balanced for the world, but too emotionless (by necessity), Cyclops almost struck the perfect balance. Interestingly enough, Wolverine got it right during the Schism storyline. Militant enough to get the job done, compassionate enough to know where to draw the line (no child soldiers). Although, it being comics, that couldn't be left that way for very long at all.
Marvel in 2024 blows hard, and I do not have faith that they will release anything worth paying attention to.

I completely agree. Sad how his on screen appearance has gone so far. I get it, knife hands cool and edgy, wolverine sells, ect, but thats no real excuse to dilute or downplay the Leader of the X-Men. He leads for a good reason, and Logan ultimately fell in line when Scott needed him to, for a reason. Never understand why writers seem to think you cant build and highlight characters story lines faithfully side by side. It would make for such a more mature and epic film, and that goes for all of them, not just Logan and Scott.

I’ve barely grazed the X-men comics but read enough to get each character a level or 2 deep. Although all the X-men and mutants have tragic childhoods it feels to me like Cyclops is what Wolverine is if he wasn’t selfish and could control his himself for the a strategic greater good. Both believe in Charles but Logan still fights for agency and often Scott is Xavier’s tool. I hope they cast MCU cyclops with current arc in mind because that’s what got me interested in X-men again

Honestly if they decide to bring back actors they kinda have the perfect opportunity to do both actors of Cyclops Justice, with the older James Marsden as the villainous Cyclops andd the younger Tye Sheridan as the timetravelling younger cyclops like they did in the comics. Low key feels like that entire plotline was set in place specifically to do that down the line and Id presonally love to see James MArsden have a proper shot at the characters.

Scott shoots kinetic energy out of his eyes kinetic energy creates Heat there's nothing wrong with the movie interpretation of his power

    • @ll7868
      @ll7868 7 месяцев назад

No, kinetic energy does not produce heat, that's what's wrong with the interpretation.
"Energy occurs in many forms, including chemical energy, thermal energy, electromagnetic radiation, gravitational energy, electric energy, elastic energy, nuclear energy, and rest energy. These can be categorized in two main classes: potential energy and kinetic energy. Kinetic energy is the movement energy of an object. Kinetic energy can be transferred between objects and transformed into other kinds of energy" - Fundamentals of Physics by V.K. Goel.
What that means is kinetic energy creates force aka pressure due to motion, like a battering ram hitting a door, hit it as hard as you want it won't spontaneously combust or explode due to heat but would give way due to elastic energy, which is why Cyke's beams can ricochet off of any solid object without setting them on fire in the same way vibranium like Cap's shield or Black Panther's suits redirects kinetic energy and converts it into rest energy or "invariant mass" meaning the force of the beams would bounce off them and they would not be sent flying back unlike Wolverine and his adamantium skeleton would be sent flying, sort of like Cyke's beams being a cue and Logan being the cueball.
That's about as "layman's terms" as I can put it, you can simply Google "Does kinetic energy create heat?" but you would have to have a basic understanding of the Laws of Thermodynamics, Physics and General Theory of Relativity to make sense of the answers.

  • @francostevo9939

Another example I came up with to show cyclops’ strategic know how. What if cyclops was fighting Wolverine and he fired a series of short optic blast but these blasts keep missing and hit the grassy floor? Wolverine would think cyclops is getting sloppy. Cyclops dodges many of Logan’s attacks while at the same time fires blasts and they are missing. What is the purpose of this? Turns out cyclops has been firing and missing on purpose. Why? To strike the grassy floor to make dust clouds. Why? So he can see the direction of the wind. Why? To figure out which direction is downwind. Once he had that figured out he would use the dust clouds to not only keep himself hidden from Logan’s eyes but to also moves in the direction of downwind so that way cyclops’ scent blows downwind; Logan wouldn’t be able to track where cyclops is not only not able to see him because of the dust clouds but also unable to track his scent. Cyclops would them attack from the dust clouds, getting Logan off guard.
You see what I did there? Cyclops strategic tactics at work on the battle field; knowing his opponents strengths and play those strengths against them to gain an advantageous strategy. Cyclops’ best power isn’t his powers, it’s a power that we all have: the mind. His optic blast powers are useless if not used by someone with the tactical mind to make them play out in an advantageous method of action.

But i feel its just that was his rage inside against all the disagreements and anger between him and Xavier. And he kinda went berserk doing it. Scout is a leader. But he needs to learn to be an actual wise one and know he was wrong for that mistake.

Great video that shows appreciate to who Cyclops is as a character. I also agree that he deserves to be the face of the X-Men for the MCU since he’s already that in the comics along with Storm. However I personally disagree with Emma being a better partner for Scott. Not to say Emma can’t be an ally to the X-Men but I feel Jean and Scott deserve to be a couple more and be done justice in the movies and help show their relationship work in a healthy way for all the movies.

Magneto is about self preservation, Xavier is about fighting for those who fear and hate you. Cyclops 90's was Xavier's X Man, 2000's Cyclops is Magneto like Mutant, he kinda stopped being an X Man. I prefer 90's comics, where Scott & Jean were fighting bad guys like Apocalypse, Stryfe, etc. instead of 2000's where Scott & Emma were always in bed and fighting other humans.

The issue is that movies haven’t done a minimally intersting character any favors. Also, there are too many wannabe social engineers writing scripts so actual fans of X-men, X-Force, and other offshoots could never get the movie they deserve. I’m not even going to even explore all the various continuity issues in various comics and multiverses, LOL!
I would like to see an X-force movie that closely followed the comic when they took out Apocalypse.

It's ironic how x-men roles swing back and forth right? I mean who'd thought Cyclopes, Charles Xavier's pupil student would play a Magnetolike role in defending mutants? Cyclopes is the last x-men you'd even imagine that! Cyclopes was the leader, while the professor was the Alpha Trion of the team as mentor, Scott Summers played the Optimus Prime of the x-men, so Magneto would be a Megatron Player! Now Cyclopes is going Megatron on the human race and being the top pick to lead the x-men by the professor this comes as a surprize. Another surprize to everybody except myself is that leadership Optimus Prime role is taken over by Rogue of all x-men! I was a fan of Rogue even before she became an x-men and backed her since, even had a premonition of her becoming that Optimus Primelike savior of mutantkind, she came to Professor X at a young age seeking help to gain control of her powers, but at first none of the x-men felt she can be trusted not to betray them! She was given a chance to show professor X and the team that she was in it for the good cause and since have proven even more honorable than that promise she made! Now the most favorible of the professor's x-men has developed a Magneto streak, while the least trusted of the team proves them wrong about turning against Charles Xaviers ideal of a dream in which humans and mutanst co-exist side by side peacefully and according to the Marvel 616 and three alternate universe, Rogue ends up being the one to bring that dream to reality, without the mutants leaving America! I saw this in a premonition in 1981 the very issue that Rogue arrived at the X-mansion seeking help from the professor and because of her near future heroic acts and saving the multiverse she is forever known to both humans and mutants as the mutant icon! That was supposed to be Cyclopes position, but with Marvel anything can change before you know it!

As much as i agree that a "CHARACTER" should get a spot, but in the end, it will be an "ACTOR" who fits a character, that gets the spotlight.
Similar to J. Lawrence and Mystique. IMHO not a main character but she was a top tier actor and i evolved around her, not mystique.

I think we cant put origin story here (loose this opportunity long time ago. To late for this). Same story with human vs mutants conflict (Mutants just cant pop out nowhere in MCU and get same hate from comics that was build for decades)
    .
Consider this we cant start with Xavier X man school. I think we need play "Namor" card here. Just like nobody knew about his "Atlantida" existence before Black Panter 2, same go for Mutants. This is why i think Krakoa would be perfect for Mutants enter in MCU.
    .
My idea is - everything (conflict between mutants and humans) already happens back in 70-80 (same years as Day's of the future past). It end badly - almost all out war against humanity. From human side it was Bolivar Trusk who join SHIELD and with help of Edward Stark (and HYDRA) was working on Sentinel Project. X man together with Brootherhood of mutants storm SHIELD base, kill Trusk

X man together with Brootherhood of mutants storm SHIELD base, kill Trusk (here base for Magneto vs Xavier conflict and later Cyclops will take Magneto place), destroy Sentinel project and after that Xavier just wipe out all memories about mutant existence from all humanity
    .
After this all mutants start live in complete isolation on Krakoa island (covered from all modern day technologies by mutant powers) with resurrection protocols, etc (this is how our main characters still stay young). Isolation of Krakoa cause a big discussion between Magneto supporters (radicals who want announce about themself to the world in Wakanda style ) and Xavier supporters (pacifist who want keep things as they are because they afraid of War against humanity 2.0). for most part mutants decide to stay out humans buisness (because of cautious and because they still did not forgive racist humans). This is why they did not help against alien invasion (first Avengers movie) or against Thanos (even if Thanos erase half of population, mutants could easily ressurect them)
    .
For now only scout teams (with teleporters like Magik and telepaths like Emma) are allow to travel into outside world (find newborn mutants, teleport them on Krakoa and wipe out memory about their existence). But then big clusterfuck happen (end of phase 6) which destroy Krakoa barrier and return lost memories about mutants to humanity. Humanity is terrify about mutants threat and what they capable on...and here we start tension relationship between Krakoa and the rest of the World

I find the avx portayal of cyclops problematic. His plan reminds me too much of a child marriage for the power to save his people. Its also a plan that could literally potentially blow up in everyones face killing the world. He comes off as someone who only cares about the world as long as mutants exist. Which also brings up the question what is a mutant, anyway? If a mutant is someone born with super powers and the reason mutants are going extinct is that ppl are no longer being born with powers, then is he just risking the world for super powers?

I'm biased if you couldn't tell by the pfp, I realize the guys a wet blanket but I would love at least a half-centered Cyclops story on the big screen. Not just to display his incredibly honed abilities, his philosophies, and immensely potent powerset. But because he, the X-Men's fucking leader outside of Xavier, first of the X-Men, is relegated to a side character. Fucking BLOWS man.
