- With mutants on the rise in the MCU, it's time to tackle the question, who should make up the roster for the MCU's X-Mens first outing? In this video I go through a few of my picks, some honorable mentions, and discuss why I would like to see each character. I'm very curious to hear everyone's thoughts, so let me know who you'd like to see in the comments! Thank you for clicking on the video!

Storm is an Omega level mutant and leader. She is a must, you are correct.
How would they even have them in the mcu if everyone already loves superheroes though? Scarlett witch is literally a mutant, same with her late brother and her children who are apart of the young avengers
@@GiveonKingthat's pretty simple unlike most characters Mutants are born with powers unlike most other characters who get theirs from freak accidents, science or both
And seeing as most mutants gain their powers during their teen years they could easily have a whole "protect the kids" thing that we've seen used against other minority groups

@@GiveonKing they also don't know he's a Teen as no-body knows who Spider-Man is also he's a Mutate which are very similar to Mutants even being allowed in some Mutant only places in the comics
@@KodaCreatez Wanda is a mutant though, also that point on anyone can just have it still makes no sense, if that’s the case they can just say they got their powers through alternative methods. So much superpowered characters in the MCU to be caring. Unless it takes place in a discreet town or city or in another universe entirely. Because in a world on avengers and fantastic 4. I can’t buy it. Although I do want an x men/fantastic 4 OG avengers crossover which isn’t currently possible
I think it's important to have 2 or 3 mutants that are visually mutants so that the mutant metaphor works more

Eg I always thought that you could have a fun Daredevil story with a character like Stacy X.

@@btf_flotsam478 Agreed, and I feel similar about Channing-Tatum's Gambit since while I appreciate him performing a role he was looking forward to doing since years past it's very much a character self-parodying and not a version I'd like to see get intensely involved as the misguided informant for the marauders mutant massacre (his og 80's appearance) or 1/2 of the tumultuous but adorably fun power partner of Rogue

personally I want to see Jubilee on the team, she is by far my fav X-men and she has been done so dirty in live action

She deserves more attention, yeah, but Id put her among students like Kid Omega, Glob Herman, Cannonball, Husk and Monet st Croix. Could be a great team for a tv show between the bigger movies.

I think Rogue should start as a villain in a Captain Marvel movie. It just feels wrong to not lean into her origins. I think she could be great in being convinced to turn against her adoptive mothers by the heroic side of Carol. In turn will be a great character to show people can reform, like Wanda and Bucky.
To argue her and Remmy to be later additions. I think Iceman is a good pick.
Also, Collosus, before Magik, as much as I want her too. In my head I just see him having Kitty as a second sister, where he wants to see Illyana again. And then Kitty and Illyana could be a later romance thing.

I mean, the woman was almost certainly Sherlock Holmes and has spent the past century being gay and doing crimes with her wife.
THIS!! one of my friends was saying who's gonna be the new villain in the new avengers movies cause they've done them all, and my suggestion was Magneto the first Avengers movie could open with the new Avengers discovering the new cap in a block of ice this would be our new introduction to these characters (no lead up movies they're unnecessary atp just throw them in there Stark Thor Wasp Pym &maybe Banner) in the process of this happening the new threat in magneto and the brotherhood is unveiled and the avengers who so far have been a bickering motley crew feel they need a powerhouse to take on the mutant militants, Fury could recommend Danvers as she has history with a mutant named Logan back when she was in airforce intelligence in the 90's, so they try to recruit her to the avengers to help because stark nearly dies in their first encounter with magneto mystique destiny sabretooth avalanche and pyro and they're tactically imbalanced and not a team, someone suggests Steve as he's a legend and single-handedly wooped their assss upon awakening at the avengers mansion/triskelion (including thor whos hammer he casually wields thinking odinson is some nazi experiment)
But tony and Pym think he's too young (this cap isn't even 30 and when he's thawing there's a scene akin to the one where the guardians find Thor in space where they're like "he's just a kid" which surprises them cause their grandparents all talked about Rogers like he was ten feet tall)
&Danvers having the obvious power set and experience with mutants is the better call while Steve gets on his feet so to speaks, this leads into the next battle where danvers pops in from whatever galactic bushfire she's been dealing with and gets briefed and decides to help only for them to be caught unawares by a Brotherhood attack on the avengers mansion/triskelion (destinys powers of foresight might play into this) right before the mission to Magnetos lair, Rogue the young enthusiastic but misled member of the team takes out Pym and Wasp immediately and the rest of the avengers are either struggling or taken out except for Steve who comes back to the base and is something of an unknown element and is holding his own before Carol can get in the fight Rogue tries to neutralise her but gets stuck due to Carols now half alien physiology and ends up putting her in a coma and flying off confused.. bear with me as I'm making most of this movie up as I go along but the third act could be cap becoming defacto leader of the avengers and stark realising he can't control everything, with cap deciding to recruit rogue as penance for her actions after recognising that she was misled (similar to how they recruited scarlet witch even though she was an enemy in the same movie) &with her help and caps leadership they overcome magneto

What could be interesting is to see the Avenger’s tackling the brotherhood because it seems like Mystique is targeting Carol but it’s because Destiny Foresaw Carol would mess Rogue up.
If Khamala gets caught up in it, I’d probably have her be the one to meet Rogue who just wants to keep her mothers safe and proud.
You could also add an anti mutant bill where a group like the Morlocks or mutants like Dust and Boom-Boom get caught in the mix.

I agree heavy. Ice Man was my favorite X-Men as a kid and I hope he's in the MCU X-Men

Your X-Men Members seem cool, but in my opinion I wouldn't bring back Jean Grey. People need to see a character that hasn't had their story dragged twice, I'd go for an underused character such as Psylocke. Just saying, and Glen Powell as Cyclops would be an amazing casting choice.
I completely agree. The team should largely consist of characters that the public don’t know to well while still having the essential one Cyclops.
Idk about pyslock. I think Emma frost is a better choice. Kinda like wolverine and the x-men where Emma was essentially the main female character of the team. Cause something u have to keep in mind is that if cyclops is the main character as he should be than more likely than not he’s gonna have a love interest and he really only has 2 and that’s Jean or Emma. And since ur not using Jean Emma is the best choice
I disagree as movie Jean has more of a bad portrayal then people think in the movies, it’s regulated to “girl with atomic bomb powers” 97’s plot had her quite a notable role and it had nothing to do with the dark phoenix at all and it barely did anything with the phoenix despite the foreshadowing at the end. The show focused a lot on who she actually is which is an element the movies kept forgetting to the point the phoenix is the only trait people apparently care about
You do realise Jean Grey can be included without having to jump straight into the Dark Phoenix storyline. She’s far too essential to leave out.
They should introduce Her and lead to her big bad era but not give Her so much focus The protagonists for me should be storm and wolverine
MAGIK😤😤😤 and it’s sad storm doesn’t get more recognition there was a scene in X-men 97 and they were like “who’s gonna lead the team now?” And I’m like HELLO STORM?
They vaguely alluded to her being a leader when they split into two teams, and Storm... leads? the second team, but I agree it was kinda lame. Maybe on the second season she'll have a stronger role as a proper leader, with Cyclops being away.
Storm is literally the teams go to leader when Scott leaves after Jean dies in the comics.

Every major X-Men not named Wolverine or Magneto was done dirty. I too want justice for the character.
while of course reducing aurora or shuri to the love interest would be bad the mere presence of a black panther nessecitates that relationship being told. aurora and shuri queens of wakanda. (should be tchala but nothing we can do about that and jr is way too young to work here. teen storm? ... maybe? nah i think woke is better, as long as they do it right.)

Elizabeth Gillies as Rogue is something i never knew i needed until you said it. Yes!
I think they should keep it simple and show the original teenage team Charles put together. Xavier, Iceman, Jean Grey, Beast and Cyclops. I don’t think they should be teenagers but in their early 20’s to still show some inexperience and it would explain why we haven’t heard of the X Men in the MCU yet. Let Wolverine and Storm be the first mutants from the outside to join the team. Storm and Wolverine will be older of course. Then let characters such as Gambit, Rouge, Colossus, and Jubliee start to join in later movies.

Magik and gambit would make one of the coolest team ups in my opinion. She opens portals as gambit throws a flurry of cards and without moving they wipe out an entire crowd of enemies. Or just having them in a fight seen with gambits glowing staff and cards exploding and magiks sorcerer magic flying and soul sword glowing.

Dont have any casting ideas but for the teams
Film 1: Prof X, Cyclops, Jean, IceMan, Angle, Beast
Film 2: Same as first+ Storm, Wolverine, Colossus, Nightcrawler
Film 3: Same as first 2+ Gambit, Rouge
Other characters I would like to show up somewhere, Kitty Pride, Bishop, Cable, Jubilee, Sun Spot, Emma Frost, Havok.
completely valid and reasonable list, i just very selfishly want gambit and rogue as soon as possible, but i think your plan is much more realistic!
🔥🔥🔥 And then after you introduce all of them in the “final” X-Men film, you can add Kitty, Jubilee, Emma, Sunspot, and Bishop, and I think you should have Illyana be introduced in the film w Colossus, as a villain, who Colossus doesn’t know is Illyana, and then in the third act, realizes it’s Illyana, and then in the third, she begins an arc of becoming a hero.
Film one doesn’t have the personality group to carry a film . And I’m a huge Jean fan . If they make Bobby back to being a girl crazy jokester it might work

@@iriemonmon I also prefer Storm not being in the first team, as i want her to be introduced in Black Panther 3 (Now, if BP3 is before X-Men movies, then obviously Storm should be in the first team and then they can make a Post-Credits scene with Professor X and Storm being recruited).
For a first team I’d like to see Prof X, Cyclops, Jean, Storm, Angel, Iceman, Beast, and Kitty.
We need justice for colossus! The best version of him that we got was in Deadpool, and he was mostly there as a stick in the mud who had no real character… and he was in metal form the ENTIRE time!
Gambit, Cyclops and Bishop's powers are amazing for cool fights, with interesting choreography.
i think the guy who played nightwing in titans would fit cyclops pretty well

I'm so glad I'm not the only one! I've wanted Anya Taylor Joy to return as Magik in the MCU since 2020...lol.
Jubilee would be such a great shout, no justice in the live action ones and yet the first ever xmen series arc was dedicated to her, in 97 and the later parts of the original series she has some really cool moments and would be so good in live action as part of an starting lineup.

would be my list i think a wolverine inclusion would over shadow the main cast as i feel it did in the original ones a bit (3 solo movies) also jubilee could be a cool character in the sense of showing how she would be new to controlling her mutant powers, similar to the original series!
I love wolverine, and the X-men, i wanna see him in the MCU X-men, but you're kinda right, but i think he should be teased at least if he isnt in the first one

Gambit was goated back in the lego marvel days,us based gamed enjoyers have been waiting to see an mcu gambit
chuck, cyclops, jean, gambit, jubilee, angel, and newcomer kitty, vs. magneto and rogue. They meet magik halfway through, rogue joins the xmen at the end.
I want the animated line up with as much nightcrawler, gambit, Psylocke and Colossus i can get
also, there are many mutant teams apart from the xmen, there’s so much potential! a more r-rated movie with x-force, a noir detectivesque show with x-factor investigations!!

My lineup: Charles, Scott, Jean, Storm (those 4 are essential), Gambit (after this year there’s no way marvel shuts him out they clearly love him), Iceman (after he came out in 2015 he’s been allowed to really develop a lot more), Rogue (because she brings out the best in Gambit), Polaris (just because i think that 8th slot is kind of a free card and i think she’s really charming and relatable and is longer overdue for being more popular), and Beast as a minor character resident scientist/ weapon-building type.
sidenote 1: i think x-men should start as a team up, then maybe have other soinoffs of side teams like New Mutants led by Kitty and Magik, X-Factor with Lorna and Alex and Excalibur with Betsy and maybe Kwannon just to be funny. And i think the first X-Men project should be a series but more prestigious and treated like the big deal it is. I think these characters and concepts are a lot to handle in 2 hours, and you could adapt atleast 3 of the major stories you need to get out of the way if you do a series, because frankly i’m tired of fight magneto-> fight someone else-> dark phoenix i think it’s best to get fighting magneto and the phoenix saga out of the way ASAP so you can do some of the better stories
sidenote 2: Whether it’s a series or movie i think director Emma Seligman (Bottoms, Shiva Baby) would be an incredible at telling the X-Men’s story, especially if they just sit back and let her cook. She’s jewish and queer (the main parallels of the mutant metaphor), and she’s shown that she can be incredibly funny (and do so with much different types of humor) and also generate a lot of stressful environments (if she can make me break a sweat watching a family reunion, i’m sure she can do so for something more high stakes) she also originally wrote a draft of Bottoms where they were Superheroes so she clearly isn’t above action and she’s certainly not above a silly blockbuster if she can make it compelling.
sidenote 3; think erik should be in the first one whether as an established foe or a first emergence and Emma needs to come in eventually to complete the power triangle.
also if Seligman were direct X-men with Lorna in it i think Rachel Sennot (who’s a frequent colabator with Seligman) would eat that up even though she might be just a bit too much of a comedic actor for Lorna if she locked in it would make sense.

I'd love to see Magik, Kitty, Rachel, Rogue, Gambit, Nightcrawler, Firestar, Iceman, Daken and Dazzler (and Lockheed of course) on a team, because I love them and all the big characters could use some rest after the runs they had in their... less than stellar movies.
Alternatively it could work as a spin-off team, because the X-Men love having multiple different teams at the same time.

Cyclops, jean, Gambit,wolverine, iceman, nightcrawler, colossus, archangel, beast, rogue,storm, kitty , jubilee (make the teens be teens and te rest in their 26-30s) just put the x men animated series team
The perfect main team for the first film should be:
* JEAN GREY: the girly girl, heart of the team.
* CYCLOPS: the boyscout leader.
* STORM: powerhouse, the voice of reason.
* GAMBIT: the charismatic flirt.
* ANGEL: the naive chad.
* BEAST: the smart, gentle guy.
* ROGUE: the sassy tomboy.
* ICEMAN: the extroverted jokester.
~~~~~~~ Those should be the main ones, but I would add a couple more characters to be with them, on supporting roles, that would become more prominent on the second film:
* WOLVERINE: a grumpy loner that struggles to adapt (only Jean treats him kindly, the rest can't stand him).
* KITTY PRYDE: youngling scared of the world around her.
* JUBILEE: same as Kitty, but with a little more sass to her
* MAGIK: another youngling with a very close bond to Kitty.
* COLOSSUS: sensitive gym bro.
I would start with them. Psylocke, Dazzler, Banshee, Nightcrawler, etc, could join for the second film.
Storm should also like Wolverine
@@spotongaming4943 As in a romantic couple? I don't like that ship, because I think Storm is too hot to be Logan's second best. I like them in the alternative timeline, because I think their relationship makes sense in there: they lost everyone, and trauma made them bond and get closer.
But on the main timeline, I think Storm deserves someone that is head over heels for her, and not someone that is in love with Jean, but would kind of settle for her.
I would like Storm better with Angel, or Forge, if he ever appears on the films.

And you can add Wolverine, storm, and thunderbird in the second movie.
Also the first villain for the x men villain should be Mr. Sinister

My preference: Cyclops, Marvel Girl, Beast, Iceman, Angel. Beast/Angel likely to bumped off, Beast already written as Professor X's contemporary, Angel not as popular so he can be a student. Replacements: Storm, Bishop, Nightcrawler. Storyline: Both Professor X and Magneto recruiting mutants to their side against an external threat. Rogue and Gambit as two of the potential recruits, maybe Psylocke as well. Wolverine can be mentioned or as a cameo but can be teased into the sequel. Colossus already a team member in the story but maybe written as trying to protect Magik from threat, can be offscreen or cameos. Other students: Negasonic, Jubilee, Shadowcat, Havok, Banshee, Morph, maybe Polaris.
I hope a lot of Mutants gets to have their own solo movies. Treat some of them like Iron Man, Cap & Thor. This way they can flesh out these characters more.
Facts. I'd cry if they do a tv show of for example storm
THEY SHOULD DO STORY OF RECRUITING MUTANT TO THE TEAM AND EXPAND LITTLE BY LITTE ON UPTO 15 MAIN CAST

I absolutely love the X-Men from Marvel
so much so, that I have a detailed fan theory as to how the X-Men could join the Marvel Cinematic Universe:
keep First Class, Days of Future Past, Apocalypse, Dark Phoenix, Deadpool 1 & 2, New Mutants in the Marvel Cinematic Universe timeline as there is a massive gap between 1963-1995
with the Dark Phoenix cast appearing in Deadpool 1&2, these films can happen after the events of Dark Phoenix and since Essex Corps is referenced in New Mutants, this could happen in the Dark Phoenix timeline
after these events, Professor X uses Cerebro to convince the world that mutants don't exist and erase any new mutant activities from people's minds whenever one is witnessed. however the only person who knows is Nick Fury, who agrees with Professor X to keep tabs on any new mutant activity. this is also referenced in a deleted scene from Iron Man 1, when Nick mentions X-Men
the X-Men can work in secret between 1992 up until Endgame. when Tony Stark snaps his fingers, the mind stone reverses the effects of Professor X's actions. resulting in the public now remembering who the X-Men are
as for Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch, Hydra's meddling with the mind stone prematurely reversed Professor X's actions, as it was mentioned that the mind stone unlocks dormant abilities already present in the brain
my theory brings the Dark Phoenix X-Men cast into the MCU, thus eliminating the need to recast the entire X-Men team. the actors are young, they've expressed interest in returning and continuing their roles. it's an option for Marvel Studios to do that
I've explained my theory to a lot of people, most of whom say it works. others say it won't work and demand i should forget everything about the Fox X-Men films and be happy with what Disney/Marvel Studios are going to do with the X-Men

Personally, I think they should take a GoT or AoS approach w/ X-Men. Create a live action series and focus on the drama of their relationships and circumstances with 2-3 major all out battles per season. Avengers stories didn't become interesting until Joe Quesada became Editor In Chief at Marvel and made events in older Avengers stories relevant and actually gave all the Avengers who were not as well established as Cap, Iron-Man, & Thor an actual personalities. Meanwhile, X-Men have had banger stories and character development from the beginning and haven't slowed down. Granted there had been some meh, plots and underdeveloped characters here and there but the track record is more than solid in comparison. With the X-Men there is just too much going on w/each character which makes for a great read or series but every X-Man movie has a difficult time capturing that. 1st Class and did the best in capturing that aspect of X-Men imho.

The whole storyline should start after Jean (the dark phoenix)died, X professor scarified himself to save the world and Emma help the X men to comfort Jean, that’s why she join the team at the beginning of the movie, Wolverine feels depressed and leaves the team after losing Jean

With the new ‘97 I’ve felt such a revive of the series. With everything on how the world is going they could dive so deep into X-men. So I pray 🙏 they give rogue and gambit the screen time they deserve

Love it, love asking Magik too which is great. At least someone to mess up versions of rosters we've seen in different movies. And having rogue start with her bigger power set with flashbacks to her journey is a good idea to avoid clipping her wings

I want new people and members to shine. My team is bishop, colossus, jubilee, cyclops, Emma frost, cannonball, psylock, iceman, angel. None of them have had good storylines in any of the movies. All of them are cool, and have visually interesting powers. And lend themselves to interesting stories. Save the heavy hitters ( wolverine, rouge, Jean, storm, gambit, nightcraweler) for later stories.
Honorable mentions: kid omega, Monet, synch, cable, hope, and kitty pride.
I think introducing a whole lineup of c list mutants is the last thing Disney wants. They'll go with the popular characters first, and have lesser known mutants in the background to develop later on.

And Avengers had no alternative other than using c-list characters for its roster, because that's what the Avengers were at the time. Thank you for sharing your thoughts on the MCU X-men. The longer we have to wait to see an X-men story from the MCU, the more worried I get that they will screw them up somehow. I certainly agree with you about how it would be fantastic to get a few different characters this time and how we should try to make a team with a lot of power and features many characters who have been underused. I also strongly agree with you about using Kitty Pryde. I'm a huge fan of her. I also liked your introduce Wolverine in an after-credits scene pitch. That being said, I have some different opinions. I think that we should have Sunfire in the modern X-men. He’s such a wicked, excellent character and way underused, and he brings more diversity to the team. Also, what about Psylocke? Her true story is fantastic, and she really needs the chance to be a prominent movie character and get out of the “henchman” gig she’s been stuck with since Apocalypse! Plus I also believe Emma Frost needs a chance to shine. Also, while I agree with you about doing a darker Rogue story, I have one objection. If they do that story, they should take all the characters back to basics, and that includes reintroducing Carol Danvers as Ms. Marvel. I genuinely miss the more basic version of the character, and I think this story is a great way to bring her back and I don't care how much controversy it causes; I stand by this pitch! However, I also respect a lot of your ideas too. Thank you for sharing them with us.

Depending on which story they decide to introduce the X-Men in the MCU, I think it's time we get a movie that feels like the source material. That's why I feel we should start with the main 7 cast of Angel, Iceman, The Beast, Cyclops, Jean Grey, Kitty Pryde and Colossus.
I think beast would be more of a side character because of his powers they really leave something to want but having him in the mansion would make sense

Yes it’s a large roster but not all of them need to do a ton in the plot. The way I see this going is that a first movie would have an A-Plot focusing on the main field team trying to solve some problem or defeat some villain, while the B-Plot is the students I’ve listed learning from the mentor figures and improving with their powers to then join up with the main team at the end. By the end of the film you do end up with 8 or 9 mutants on the field team, but I straight up think you need Cyke, Jean, Gambit, Rogue, and Storm, and also need some new blood/characters that weren’t in ‘97 in there.

Since statements have been made that Sinister is being looked at as the villain, I’d like to see the film take place in the same world as F4, and we get a story line that mixes together Night of the Sentinels and Asteroid M. It would allow us to see Magneto and the Brotherhood without them being the main antagonists like in the Fox films. I could see Sinister using Trask and sneaking a Master Mold onto Asteroid M. With the Shiar showing up at the very end of the film (setting up the Mkraan crystal for Dr Doom purposes). I could see it starting with Gambit having some flashbacks as to why Rogue left for the Brotherhood (her fight with Binary), Jubilee and Angel being the ones closest to graduating. Angel will come back into play for Sinister’s Apocalypse scheme for the second film.
The team I’d like to see (with Xavier obviously included) is Wolverine, Cyclops, Jean Grey, Storm, Beast, Binary, Gambit, and either Kitty Pryde/Bishop/or Nightcrawler.
Bishop would really help with the multiverse part of the storyline. But again I’d like to see them be in the same universe as F4, so that this one universe collides with 616.
The film’s end could also mix in with the Marvels post credit scene. As that would be another explanation for why an incursion is coming.

i’d definitely have emma frost be there prominently right off the bat. her story of how she became an x-men can be utilized well when adapting one story, but also showing hers to an extent.
Nah. Frost is a ~barely~ reformed villain, and her backstory would require plot-lines that are not suitable for the first film at all.
