Watch her 1994 Royal variety performance. It’s better and she gets the whole crowd on their feet, giving her a long-standing ovation. And they said that it was the first standing ovation that they had in that amphitheater in decades. So it was a historic performance!
What a Proffesional singer .A real Star . Love the songs and the way she sings them . I have seen her 4 times live and always delivers a great performance . It's all my generation I grew up watching her on TV as well. I really glad we have RUclips I can watch her again and again. . Thank you all.
Dame Shirley is one of the people who make me proud to be British. She's a national treasure. Pat, please watch her sing The Living Tree at a Royal Variety performance. She's wearing gold dress. Its an epic performance and shows how well her voice holds up as she aged.
Merry Christmas Patrick, Thank you for an exceptional reaction to Dame Shirley Bassey for Christmas. You know I am a huge Shirley fan and I enjoy your reactions. She has performed 9 Royal Variety performances in her career. She is a wonderful performer and a out of this world singer.
Pres, I remember your first review of Shirley some months back and knew the rewards to come your way as you searched further. The appreciation of her at the end of this was heart warming to someone who has followed this incredible lady for over 60 years.
Shirley Bassey added 2 Beatles songs to her regular repertoire around 1970 - Hey Jude and Something. It was a break with her style up to that point which was mainly standards, showtunes, torch songs and s ballads. Her recording of Something and its release as a single was a huge comeback for her, a massive smash hit, and in the U.K. she outsold the Beatles’ own version, the only artiste ever to do so. George Harrison subsequently penned a new song for her but for some reason she never recorded it.
As it is now the Easter break in the UK would you help us celebrate by reacting to SHIRLEY BASSEY SING 'THE GREATEST PERFORMANCE OF MY LIFE - 4K REMASTERED'. Please!
Thanks for your insightful reaction to another phenomenal performance by Dame Shirley Bassey. To borrow from a song, "There is nothin' like this Dame!"
Dear Pres.Pat, thank you so much for this reaction!! One of Dame Shirley's best performances on the Royal Variety Shows. She's simply the best female live entertainer!! Without special effects, just her fantastic voice and stage presence. Happy holidays, Pat!!
I’ve always loved this woman an this performance. Watching you listening was just as exciting to watch I knew what was coming lol thank you for this one Merry Christmas!
Dame Shirley has a wicked sense of humour and I've a feeling my friend took part in this one, they were great friends, this show is held each year at different theatres with a different cast and members of the royal family, there is a great example of Dame Shirley with HRH Duke of Edinburgh on his 80th birthday and her sense of humour, again they were great friends. The Royal Variety helps Actors and others from the entertainment industry who have fallen on hard times and helps towards the upkeep of Brinsworth House Twickenham, again for people from the entertainment industry
I remember watching this and recording it on VHS which I must've watched a million times. This was, where we saw and heard to maximum effect the post vocal coaching effect. He range was bigger, her voice flowed freer in my opinion, it was even more resonant and expressive. She is a phenomenon and I really hope that now she has more or less retired, she looks back and realises just how absolutely amazing she was. I've followed her since about 1975 and you have sent yourself down a very very deep rabbit hole with Shirley Bassey and you will love every minute of it ❤
@@multimill still working at almost 87, although not as much, the pandemic made her look back over her life and enjoying spending more time with family and friends and especially grandchildren
Great reaction video. Glad to see that you got around to this one. In America, they only showed HEY JUDE. I caught it late one night on the A&E Network and immediately became a Bassey fan. I went out and bought every Bassey album/cd I could find and have been doing so ever since.
She was good friends with the beatles, even sitting in watching Abbey Road. She did and does Something from Abbey Road as one of her songs from back then right through to now.
Great reviews Pat I love your enthusiasm! And love Dame Shirley (never call her Shirl) Saw her twice live in concert and she never disappointed. A consummate professional and National treasure.
My wonderful loving mother died in 2019 aged 93. At her funeral I played ‘climb every mountain’ sung by Shirley She loved Dame Shirley and we saw Shirley live around this time in the city of Birmingham 🏴🏴🇬🇧 Did you know she was born 8th January , sharing this date with David Bowie and ELVIS
Thanks for putting this on your channel. Shirley is a TOTAL performer. No one comes close. Check out her concert in 1973 at the Royal Albert Hall on RUclips in THAT green dress. Her performance will just blow you away. I've seen her live in many concerts over the years and they are just unforgettable experiences.
There's some similarities with Liza Minelli vocally and in their way of performing. Intense performers. They give everything they have on stage ! I don't know if Shirley has ever done Broadway but she could have done it easily ! And even try Opera. So much power in that voice. Her hey jude cover is the best part of that medley.
Check out her Sydney concert from 1976. Orange gown there are so many songs to pick from. My favorites are alone again naturally. Born to lose. My way an over the rainbow. Look forward to your next video on this legendary women
Hi, maybe you could listen to "This is my life" (for example here ruclips.net/video/XwcOqUlLjLk/видео.htmlsi=Aw9GdT3zYmY55Rzy ), which was performed by her at the Festival of San Remo in Italy (1968) with lyrics partially in english and partially in italian. There was also an Italian male performer of the song in San Remo (every song had two performers at the time. One in italian lyrics and one on english lyrics) but he was... unlucky, as the other performer was Shirley Bassey... This song (now only in english lyrics) is one of her most famous songs and she used to close her concerts with that. Also, perhaps you could find interesting a song of hers from 1971: "Excuse me" (for example here ruclips.net/video/_q16hx4jTQY/видео.htmlsi=DTaW9iDha1Ss-9wu ). She was always feeling its lyrics in her heart performing it. Just see her facial expressions and her body movements. Perhaps they deserve to be in your Dame Shirley Bassey's song list and make a "reaction" video for them someday. Have a happy new year! Greetings from Greece.
My new FAVORITE THING is:
Dame Shirley Bassey singing…
“HEY JUDE”🙀
We love you Mr President, and your exquisite taste in music!
