She was 23 here, in 1960, and already has the power and sensitivity to emote a song like no other. Lucky to have heard her from those early days. She's incomparable.

She lives her songs. She sings them like an actress do. She could have considered doing some opera with her powerful voice and acting beside singing really. She's a true intense performer ! ❤

She helped me through my formative years in the late 1950's and up to the 1970's when life was a bit tough and lonely.

DSB (as we call her in the UK) has always played the instrument she had at each stage of her life to virtuoso level, instead of trying to preserve the same sound. That's why she has endured for so many decades. Add to that the maintenance of that tiny lady's physical strength, and the power is the same as it has ever been. BTW - sooo jealous of that arm muscle definition! She kept it well into her later years. All of that is a lifetime's worth of commitment!

Dame Shirley Bassey is IT! It’s too bad the word unique isn’t supposed to be modified by adjectives, otherwise I would call her completely unique, gloriously unique, and uniquely unique.
I am old enough to remember when drag queens everywhere copied her, Dusty Springfield, Tammy Wynette and Barbra Streisand. She made a huge impression on a lot of people.

You have a very long catalogue of songs, unsure how many records Dame Shirley has released in the 70 years of her professional career, at a guess 30- odd. I would suggest Dame Shirley on the occasion of HRH Duke of Edinburgh 80th birthday from The Royal Albert Hall, they were good friends as she is with King Charles formally Prince of Wales and our late Queen Elizabeth, let it run until Prince Phillip goes onto the stage and you'll see the relationship they had. I would also look at The Electric Proms The Roundhouse London 2009 and Glastonbury 2007 again you'll see the older Dame Shirley but also the sense of humour she has
