So heart broken when Darwyn Cooke passed. What a fantastic talent!

The emblem is for the Chevrolet Corvette. The car in question is what is known amongst gearheads as “ a split window Vette “ . The rear view of the car in the van body shows the structure of the rear window, it is divided into two sections. It is a particularly iconic vehicle, another thing that Darwin Cooke was well versed in! He could do a car that was simple and slightly cartoony, but never generic; you can always tell what he was drawing! Such a shame that he was taken so soon.

By far my favorite cartoonist. His passing left a hole no other cartoonist can fill

Cooke is so great. I'd love to see more of his stuff on the channel.

I'd also recommend the novels. So awesome. The first three make a kind of trilogy: The Hunter, The Man with the Getaway Face, and The Outfit. Richard stark aka Donald Westlake was a great writer. His writing is like Alex Toth's art, genius with no wasted movement.

He definitely had "cool" down to a science.

Looks like the first real spike strips were circa 1991, and this book was 2010, I don't know if the spike strip is in the original book but they're basically caltrops that have been in use for a long time.
Also, it's a Corvette! As a Vette lover, you know by the split back alone!

I read The Man with the Getaway Face a couple of weeks ago (after reading the graphic novel) and I can confirm that the spikes are in the original.

Amazing work. I have all of Cooke's Parker books, and they are just about the finest graphic novels I own.

Chevrolet Corvette badge images.fineartamerica.com/images-medium-large/1963-chevy-corvette-emblem-david-patterson.jpg The Corvette featured is from 1963 to 67. Also featured is the TWA Flight Center built 1962

Yup, but even slightly more specific; the split-window was only '63, which makes it additionally iconic and sought-after.

It's been mentioned that the car is a Corvette, but what I liked was that if you know the car it's immediately recognizable. The split rear window, then insignia, then full body shot reveals it perfectly for everyone whether they recognize it or not. Not many better than Cooke, especially in his Parker work.
