The latest factions videos are longer, so we will improve upon the older ones especially for major factions like Germany and Britain. Next up in the faction series will be Romania
I live in Qingdao (Tsingtao) . Sometimes when hiking I go to check the old German bunkers on top of the mountain FuShan. Thank you for making this video.
Adrian Shephard Well there was only one battle between German troops and the Japanese. Germany had about 1.400 infantry soldiers, a few thousand sailors (incl. sailors of Austria-Hungary) and 100 Chinese police officers for the defense of Tsingtao, thus all in all there were round about 4.000 - 4.700 defenders. Of course there was no way to resupply the garrison with ammunition, thus it had to surrender.
I’m gunna be real with you this channel has helped me so much with school and extra free time stuff like a history competition I competed in this channel helped me get there and I couldn’t be happier thanks simple history!
Could you maybe make a video about the Czechoslovak legions in Siberia during the Russian Civil war? What I heard, they had a pretty amazing story behind them. They travelled thousands of miles through the Siberian wilderness for 3 years before finally returning home.
Yes! Its so amazing to see a channel grow from when its just starting out to 800,000 subscribers. I cannot wait until 1,000,000 and the videos to come. They are always of high quality and very interesting. Maybe you guys could do the Franco-Prussian War next?
Japan was also the only country in WW1 whose soldiers were REALLY home by Christmas (it seized Tsingtao and German pacific colonies before the winter of 1914).
I love that the Allies were suspecious of the Japanese for having Imperial ambitions...when really the Allies basically would do the same thing considering how much territory and gains they got from the war.
Well the Filipinos suffered a lot of Casualties The americans lost 2000-10.000 men the Filipinos lost great numbers there greatest Victory against the Americans is almost at the End of the War.
1:24 During that time, the Korean Liberation Army brought a lot of weapons from the Czech White Army. And they use their weapons to fight against the Japanese Army. And later this cause the Soviet Red Army slaughtered the Korean liberation army on Svobodny, Amur Oblast.
It's amazing that most of the weapons they used in WWII were used in WWI and never developed technological advancements despite having different allies and conquered other territories prior to US involvement to WWII
YAAASSS!!! I'm one of the first 100 viewers. I clicked on this video 2 minutes after it was released. 😃😃😃 Anyway, great work as always, Simple History!
I honestly didn’t know that the Japanese even took part in WW1! I thought it mostly involved the countries in Europe and then America! This is information that I was definitely not taught in my US history classes! Thanks Simple History!
Hahaha as if I wasn't excited over the Japanese Video, even more excited to hear the mention of the Czechoslovak Legion... You guys should so do a video on them and their journey through Russia
Quite an irony. Japan once fed Russian Bolsheviks(Soviet Communist Party later) during Japan-Russo War. In order to hamper enemy's war efforts. Decade later, they started to battle against the same force they assisted. Reminds me of Winston Churchill's quote: No lasting friends, no lasting enemies, only lasting interests.
Still hard to believe the IJA fought alongside the other allied powers and against Germany. Most of the countries on both sides also deployed troops during the Boxer Rebellion from 1899 to 1901, Japan was the largest expeditionary force (that would be a great simple history video!).
45 minutes ago and already has 10,000+ views wow! Congratulations guys I've been here since it first started and this has been an amazing learning experience and I enjoy you videos!
1:36 Did they really think Japan was gonna try and send hundreds of thousands of troops all the way from Japan to France? That would be kind of interesting though if Japan had their own section of the Frontline similar to the other nations on the western front. They also could've sent some stuff to the Balkans too. Truly an interesting reality that would be.
Had they deployed to the Eastern Front to help Russia, the outcome might have been different. I don't think the Japanese Army can compete with the Germans and Austrians, though.
@@robinthesidekick1528 winter war why happened then. Also, The USSR or Russian Empire? You seem to think of it as WWI, not WWII. Enjoy trench stalemate and blitzkrieg combined :D
I would like to see the Spanish Civil War in this channel one day, I think it is a very important conflict for the influence of Nazis fighting Soviets later in WW2
It’s weird to think that the Italians and Japanese were allies with the UK and it’s allies against the Germans but then against them in the Second World War.
Unfortunately when the Japanese had come to Europe for the Treaty of Versailles they had been brushed aside after having spent millions of dollars in a war effort against the German colonies. They had also been denied a clause in the Treaty that would have stated the Japanese were racially and as a nation equal to the Europeans and Americans. This was a huge act of disrespect and led to the Japanese establishing that respect would be earned through military force.
Hello staff of Simple History Ive been a fan of your videos since the pearl harbor video. When I first came across your channel I was so happy I found an animated history youtube channel with such a wonderful art style. Ive been a big history buff since the 3rd grade(Im a freshman in highschool now)with the second world war being my favorite subject and I never thought I would find anything new and it began to get boring but luckily I found your channel and when I showed your channel to my history teacher he was amazed. So please keep up the good work there are very few animated history channels on youtube!!!
I knew before this that Japan had been part of the Allies in World War 1. But I didn't remember the role they played. Nor did I know that they were part of the subsequent Russian Expedition.

( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) Well, they were well known in World War 2, but they didn’t really do much during WW1
Douglas Roempke atcually they did as they helped the British at Malta, off the coast of South Africa and fought German commandos in the pacific island
Yes, of course. But compared to the superpowers of the war, such as Britain, France, Germany, and Austria-Hungary, they did very little.
