In September of 1938, the British Prime Minister, Neville Chamberlain travelled to meet with Adolf Hitler for discussions at his private mountain retreat.
It was hoped they would prevent Europe’s then seemingly inevitable descent into war. Whilst he was there he noticed a painting.
Hitler explained that the compassionate soldier was a man by the name of Henry Tandey and claimed that he owed him his life.

It's not like you had a long life expectancy in that war anyway. Tandy might not have believed Hitler nor himself would have survived the war. I think the average was some six weeks?
And then we get to the age old trolley problem, would you kill one helpless person to save many others even if it meant killing a man? Most would say they would... but the most human reaction would be sparing the life anyway, regardless of how many deaths it will cause, because, when aware and in control, a sane human will find it extremely difficult bring themselves to pull the trigger on another human being.
I don't blame him for sparing hitler, he couldn't have known and in the moment he did the right thing.

Would've he killed Hitler if he knew who that guy would become? Of course, most of us would not even hesitate on pulling the trigger if it meant that it could change history for the way better, but the guilt of killing an unarmed and wounded soldier would haunt him for the rest of his life regardless because he simply didnt knew

All jokes aside, I don’t blame Tandey at all for sparing him.
It’s not his fault Hitler decided to do what he did. Both of them were real life people, not characters in a story book. The choices they made were ultimately their own, no one else’s. We can look back and imagine what would’ve happened if he did indeed decide to pull the trigger, but we also need to remember that every human being is responsible for their own actions.
Henry Tandey didn’t perpetrate the Holocaust or cause WW2, Adolf Hitler did.
An amazing take. I don't think anyone blames Henry for what happened as a result. That would be insane. If in the same position, I don't think I could bring myself to kill an unarmed and wounded enemy soldier either.

I feel like it would’ve been someone else if it wasn’t Hitler. Dietrich eckhart and the Thule society were responsible for finding Hitler and grooming him for his role. So if it wasn’t Hitler, then it would’ve been another sadly.
