Here's an interesting fact: There was a german submarine/ship of soldiers who believed the war was still going on, The ship/submarine was eventually catch by the allies and all the people were arrested there (can't remember what year they were climbed)
Well, this actually happened more than once. Although the Kriegsmarine did send out the news and ordered all submarines to surface, boradcast their position and surrender (or follow incoming Allied instructions if no Allied Warship was nearby) there were some submarines that didn't receive the message right away or had their comms busted and couldn't receive it at all.
A japans military in a little island discovered that the war was finish i think in 1960 , because no one tells to them that the war was finished, a group of amerincan tourist found these guys they was shocked
Interesting to note that the structure of these units was based very heavily on what the Germans learnt from the Polish Home Army structures, whom they considered the most sophisticated and secure underground state in Europe.
Their government in exile (and connection with the homeland itself) was the most sophisticated too?
@@louissteven8862 lol they were more sophisticated than the germans, a big part of being a "government in exile" is not making every other country in the world hate you so much that it's impossible to find a host for a government in exile...........

They always say where Wolf never how wolf...
Can’t ask how wolf if you don’t know where wolf is.
but why wolf
What wolf?
Who Wolf?
Which Wolf?
I was under the impression that the main reason the Werewolves never reached any serious organizational or logistical levels was due more to the High Command refusing to contemplate the possibility of final defeat as well as the belief that the units would not be effective in such a role to begin with rather than any real effect of the Allied bombing considering that a majority of front line forces still received equipment.
Eh, not really. They weren’t very effective because, well, they’re hold-out units, they’re not supposed to be. Their entire purpose was to fight until the war is done, meaning until they’re dead, and for the handful who survive because they either fled or surrendered, things that they would hang their own troops on the trees throughout Berlin for, and then die trying to blow up anything allied. There was no hope of restoring the Nazis after the war, they just wanted to annoy the Allies by killing a handful of guys and some trucks and stuff. After all, a group of “speshully” trained over-glorified meth-heads couldn’t really of done much else.
There was a really good book written by Harry Turtledove that describes what if Reinhard Henrich survived his assassination attempt and took command of the Werwolf after the war, I won’t spoil it for you but its really well written and describes a really fascinating outcome if the resistance had been more successful than real life. The book is called “The man with the Iron Heart”. Would definitely recommend it it your interested in that sort of thing.

In April 1945 the small town Owen was reached by US troops. An US tank fell accidently from a bridge into still today existing medieval fortification ditch. There was no more a german soldier in the small town and the incident was simply an accident on a narrow bridge, but the other tanks fired into town and destroyed a number of houses.
Wow I almost got autism just reading this.
@@TrySomeFentanyl : I think, the tank crews feared that some fanatics tried to somehow attack them. The small town Owen is at a point, where the valley of small river Lauter becomes slowly narrower. Next to Owen is the larger village Dettingen, this village was attacked by US planes, because they notced, that here a german officer collected the in mostly small groups arriving fleeing german soldiers to a larger unit, to march through the noted valley, climb the road who goes to the plateau of Swabian Alb, and use the clifflike Northern end of plateau as resistance obstacle. There is still a ,remembering stone (?)' for three killed soldiers at this Plateau end.

General Maurice Rose wasn't actually killed by Werwolf units, but they did mention that it was disinformation in the video. He was killed by a German Panzer unit outside of Paderborn when his motorcade was ambushed in the darkness. General Rose, much like General Gavin of the 82nd Airborne Division, tended to lead his men from the front as opposed to sitting behind a desk in a field HQ. This means that any "assassination" carried out on him would likely just be another act of battle. Though there is some controversy over whether or not his death was a war crime. Some sources say he was shot along with his aides while trying to surrender. He died on March 30th, just a month before Hitler committed suicide. Paderborn held one of Germany's main tank schools, thus it was the location of one of the final tank vs tank battles of the war in Europe. Adam Makos' book, "Spearhead" is a good source to learn about Rose's death and the subsequent Battle of Paderborn.
