I was working in a rehearsal studio and the Peppers were in there for about a month. Every day, Chad, Flea and John would just jam for an hour or so before Rick Rubin and Anthony got there. It was unreal, like Hendrix with Bonham and Jaco for a rhythm section. John sang a bunch. Some of the best live music I've heard and it never saw the light of day. Same with STP. Really love the way Chad treats the recorded studio drum parts. They’re the basis of the song for radio, but when switched to a live setting it means nothing.
