Sony looks grainier overly sharpened, but Studio Canal has a bit too warm, although the movie in cinemas looked more like the Studio Canal version. So I think that's the correct one.

Plus the colors are more vibrant and just a little bit more detail comes through. Very excited

Looks like Sony was digitaly oversharpened and colors are cooler. That film always had yellow warmth tint. I saw it 35mm version. It was warmth yellow.

Quand vous dites que le disque UK 4K a des sous-titres anglais, ce sont des "vrai" sous-titres anglais ou pour sourd et malentendants? ça fait toute la différence pour moi à l'achat.

The Sony version has more digital sharpening added to it and is grainier.

@@jrv7346 Isn't that the natural grain of the film though?

    • @jrv7346

@@NonstandardDeviation Yes. But the digital sharpening exaggerates the grain as it's also sharpening the grain.

Apparently Studio canal have greater bitrate 85-100 mgbps
ps vs Sony 55-65 mgps, that results more filmic less noise tigher image

Thanks for this! The Sony looks better imo. The yellow tint on everything in the studiocanal release takes away a lot of the contrast in the darks. The colors seem more vibrant at first but it throws the skin tone and some other things off which look noticeably more lifelike on the Sony. Very curious what version Luc Besson would prefer.

I think you are trading warmth for detail in my opinion.

    • @hdnumerique
      @hdnumerique  4 года назад +11

There is a big difference in photography between sharpness and detail... An image can appear sharp via using tools to enhance the sharpness in post processing, but if you look closely you can usually tell the difference. The UK version is more natural and defined.

I think skin tones look better on the SONY-Release.
There is a huge yellow tint on the CONCORDE-Release. Yes, colors do pop more but the SONY-Release looks more natural.
Just look at the black skin tones.
Sony may have added sharpening but Im ok with this

The Studiocanal version looks too orange to me. Skintones seem unnatural. It also seems to have lost some fine detail compared to the Sony version.

    • @shaolin95

yeah like the face at 1:18 comparison, looks horrible and blownout on the Studiocanal one. Plus in many areas it seems to add some weird red bands
