@@0lds0ul813 I think you are absolutely right. I’ve been wanting to comment regarding this. Both Brenda (Julie) and Rhoda (Valerie) look terrible in comparison to what we all know are their true body shapes and appearance. There’s nothing left to them in these last two seasons, and they continued to get thinner (especially Brenda) in each episode. What I see and have concern for is the mental anguish and emotional turmoil that must have propelled them to continue to drop more weight. Brenda was so cute as her natural self. And what you see on sitcoms today are the same super thin bodied women but now the studios trick the viewer by throwing fake boobs on the actresses to offset their major thinness. I think the dieting and mass weight loss these two phenomenal actresses went through these last few seasons affected their acting and mental flow for the characters. Just my opinion.
G-Girl it effected the mental state of the actresses. I look beyond characters. Julie always resonated with me as a person and I see a lot of hurt within her and it just to me is terrible. But what I see here is years of hurt and comparing herself to the idea of another. It’s sad and I feel that because I know how that feels only not on that large of a platform. Julie seems like a completely genuinely beautiful person . Valerie ... she seemed more into Hollywood than Julie. Julie struggled with it . You can see that . Well if your empathic you can yaknow ? Susie Alborn was the ever pregnant friend 😄. I was bummed when Gary didn't show up on season 5 but we had to hear, very quickly in one sentence, that he had moved to Chicago. Every character on this show was perfectly cast and so funny! It was almost believable that this was a real group of friends and family. Too bad the shows nowadays aren't funny because of the writers and cast. Laughs are gained from mostly off-color, sexual innuendo jokes or goofy physical stunts that don't take much talent.
Every HGTV show: "I want open-concept for entertaining." Rhoda: "I hate being watched while I cook." I'm team Rhoda. 17:05 My god... perfect casting there. Silence of the Lambs level creepy. I'm a 6'5" man, and even I would probably shiver near that dude in the dark. I can only imagine a woman seeing him stare at her.
Great show. Valerie Harper is so thin here -- she looks like Linda Lavin -- they are merging here vocally and physically. I like them both, and of course, in reality, they are very different
Not really. You can see Valerie became very large as Rhoda continued, and she is zaftig here like in many episodes but they dressed her in ponchos and fringey blousey clothing to hide her hips. Despite this, Julie’s character was supposed to be the fat one. Crazy.
Joey S Who says she's a recluse?!? She's made movies! Worked on Tracey Ulman show many times! Appeared many times on Broadway! Just finished a show there, in fact! Is the voice of Marge Simpson! Many other acting jobs too! Don't spread rumors and lies you ass!
Normally, I like Brenda, but she sure stresses out easy, this episode isn't the only time. I'd hate to be near her during a tornado or a national disaster. Benny is cute, and funny.
Brenda didn't stress easily. How would you like your fiance and your mother planning your whole life and your whole wedding out for you? Wouldn't you want some say in it?
As this was produced by the MTM people… Rhoda’s show just seemed to be behind the 8 ball somewhat considering her spin off was in it’s early days of MTM. I did love most of the casting.By not getting through it’s 5 th season I feel it was trying to stand on it’s last legs. Such a shame and waste of incredible talent… something just went … off … and it derailed slowly. It must have been very hard to film that last episode for the actors, knowing how rough and sudden the decision was for it’s removal. It could have been handled so much better for everyone concerned. It really was a ‘terrific’ show. Ringgg…. ‘It’s Carlton here , your doorman…thanks Carlton… what is it”? Thanks for all the laughs Carlton… you will be missed😊
The show was actually cancelled after the 9th episode of the season "The Total Brenda". The remaining 4 episodes (including this one) were never aired on CBS. I suspect there were other scripts to finish out the season that never got produced, like Brenda and Benny's Wedding.
I just finished the series today. I didn't see it when it was featured in the 70s. I was disappointed how it ended. There wasn't any closure! That's it? No wedding? I really didn't think the last season was their best. I did enjoy most of the characters throughout the series.
@@Mami_Loca but Brenda had a passport for going to Hawaii and I believe she also went to the Bahamas during the series so I never understood the don't fly thing
Brenda acts like she really doesn't want to marry. She should have had a profound talk with Benny long before. And it is up to the couple how they want their honeymoon. Brenda gets too keyed-up over stuff. I remember this episode from when new.
I waitressed at one of the Howard Johnsons in Boston MA in what was once called the Combat Zone. You have to know the area, can’t explain it. There I was in my rayon peach dress and white apron and my hair buzz cut to get rid of the hateful perm I had. Great memories.
Ray Bucktenica’s weirdo energy ruined Rhoda, Benny should have been cast with someone different. Also: Script supervisor MAI SANTACROCE appears onscreen as INGA in this episode.
Brenda still dressing as a cowhand. Glad this is over. Made it thru all 5 seasons, with skipping episodes and taking long breaks, from the whining and obnoxious and immature characters. Never growing. Sorry Rhoda, still love you, though. Will be watching the reruns of Hogan Family. Rest in Love, Valerie Harper❤

@@dav1237 I hear what you are saying but I still think she had a perm on top of her naturally curly hair. Women did that.
17:05 My god... perfect casting there. Silence of the Lambs level creepy.
I'm a 6'5" man, and even I would probably shiver near that dude in the dark.
I can only imagine a woman seeing him stare at her.
Carmen Filipi had a long and impressive career playing weird old men! Wayne’s Workd, The Wedding Singer, Roseanne, and many more.
Oh O LOVE This episode!!!!
Would have much rather seen a wedding than this particular episode. Sad that we didn't get to see that
They should do a spin-off with Brenda
Brenda deserved a better guy
She is so sweet
What was wrong with him? He was a good guy, that loved her. He wasn't movie star handsome, but he was attractive.
Great show. Valerie Harper is so thin here -- she looks like Linda Lavin -- they are merging here vocally and physically. I like them both, and of course, in reality, they are very different
Funny thing is Harper replaced Lavin on Broadway in “The Tale of the Allergist’s Wife” in 2002.
Random fact: Valerie and Linda were in Second Act together way before Valerie was on Broadway
Not really. You can see Valerie became very large as Rhoda continued, and she is zaftig here like in many episodes but they dressed her in ponchos and fringey blousey clothing to hide her hips. Despite this, Julie’s character was supposed to be the fat one. Crazy.
i like Julie kavnar she steals my heart all the time shame she's a reclusive so nice
Joey S
Who says she's a recluse?!? She's made movies! Worked on Tracey Ulman show many times! Appeared many times on Broadway! Just finished a show there, in fact! Is the voice of Marge Simpson! Many other acting jobs too!
Don't spread rumors and lies you ass!
@@lovingmayberry307 She meant that she stays indoors and runs from her fans. You're the DUMB ASS!
@@lovingmayberry307 She didn't just finish a show there. She hasn't done a play in 8 years!
She doesn’t like fans very much for this reason exactly. She is very nice though . And there is nothing wrong with keeping to yourself.
last episode where is the rest??
This was the last episode of Rhoda ever produced. The show actually got cancelled before this one (and the 3 before it) ever aired.
Normally, I like Brenda, but she sure stresses out easy, this episode isn't the only time. I'd hate to be near her during a tornado or a national disaster. Benny is cute, and funny.
benny is revolting !!! that face ? that body ? total looser
Brenda didn't stress easily. How would you like your fiance and your mother planning your whole life and your whole wedding out for you? Wouldn't you want some say in it?
Why didn't they have a final goodbye episode like they did with Mary Tyler Moore?? Odd.
This show is great but Brenda and Benny have zero chemistry. None.
cause this benny actor looks an acts like a total looser
Shop and auto mechanic guys were good with their hands. Lol
I made it i watched all the seasons 😀
Felt like it got cancelled mid season. Odd ending. I used to love that show. What season did joe leave I wonder?
It did. That wasn't supposed to be the final episode.
The show was actually cancelled after the 9th episode of the season "The Total Brenda". The remaining 4 episodes (including this one) were never aired on CBS.
I suspect there were other scripts to finish out the season that never got produced, like Brenda and Benny's Wedding.
Joe left in Season 3.
Incorrect. CBS only ordered 13 episodes for the last season.
TheKoofax - that was odd then - it was popular this 5 th season 💚
I liked the open kitchen, I hate closed in spaces.
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️👍
I seen the Usher on other shows but much older
They should do a spin off with Benny and Brenda
Erik, There wasn’t anyone like Rhoda 😃
I think the earlier season were better
Much better!!
I agree I was a
Faithful watcher and I would have liked seeing Brenda and Benny getting married.
1978!
Just hated how they brought in a Lou Grant type. They just kept changing this show until it was horrible to view
The show sucked after Rhoda got divorced
I was hoping that Benny was the problem. Never liked him. I miss Gary.
I would so appreciate a trip to Israel! However, that was NOT a good trip for Brenda, b/c she would NOT fly.
I just finished the series today. I didn't see it when it was featured in the 70s. I was disappointed how it ended. There wasn't any closure! That's it? No wedding? I really didn't think the last season was their best. I did enjoy most of the characters throughout the series.
Love this song
You're right! That's why she wouldn't fly to see her dad when he was in Ft. Lauderdale
@@Mami_Loca but Brenda had a passport for going to Hawaii and I believe she also went to the Bahamas during the series so I never understood the don't fly thing
Hey
RHODA... Y'ALL COULD PUT SOME MESH FABRIC..UP, AN THEN ITS EASY TO TIE IT TO OPEN..AN HAVE DIFFERENT COLORS...STYLES..
Legend RIP
Brenda acts like she really doesn't want to marry. She should have had a profound talk with Benny long before. And it is up to the couple how they want their honeymoon. Brenda gets too keyed-up over stuff. I remember this episode from when new.
People arranging where she is going to live and where she's going for her honeymoon..not right!
I thought she rented that place, but if she had a carpenter she must of bought it
What a strange way to end a series.
Ida was something else. Always meddling in her daughters's affairs.
i didn’t like her hair the earlier seasons were so much better but still a great show
Didn't the Simpsons do an episode just like this?
The theme song for this show sucks !!!!
This season's version or just in general?
yeah it does.... awesome show though.
@@LarryLeeMoniz IN GENERAL!!! Especially the second season with the la la la la la ....
Joe was a fool. Rhoda is gorgeous and he divorced her?
Howard Johnsons? 4 got about them.
Yeah, they used to be a staple in the 70's. Funny how people places and things change before you realize they are gone.
The older lady at the movie theater was Dobie Gillis' mother!
lololol
Brenda still dressing as a cowhand. Glad this is over. Made it thru all 5 seasons, with skipping episodes and taking long breaks, from the whining and obnoxious and immature characters. Never growing. Sorry Rhoda, still love you, though. Will be watching the reruns of Hogan Family. Rest in Love, Valerie Harper❤
