I know i may be looking for things that dont exist, but i thought Ron Silver’s character was a sweetheart, and Rom played it with a real thruline like the guy was Lgbtq or had some type of secret. He played a similar character that JM J bullock played in Too Close for Comfort, i think. On Rhoda, they were never able to bring him out of the closet, but they should have. A lot of his jokes were cringeworthy. He wore a skirt in a few episodes, tried to date both women but just ended up hanging out and even Ida accepted him and was loving. There was lots of subtext and re-watchability in that character and in Ron’s work on this show. He looked adorable too.

In several episodes, there is a one and done date, and we never see the guy again I particularly liked the chemistry Rhoda had with Brenda's bank manager boss. Big mistake on the writers part. Also her work family was forgettable and her workplace was depressing
I disagree, the point of I Love Lucy was Ricky said the loving cup was better than her hats. Here, Rhoda wants to date a good looking guy and even when she gets her chance, something screws it up for her..
@@davidsanderson5918 I agree David Groh didn''t have a lot of chemistry with Valerie. A lot of her other dates on MTM did. I like this last season of Rhoda, unfortunately, this last season was also when MTM went into reruns. And you were left to compre MTM Rhoda with this Rhoda. Rhoda was much, much funnier zoftig.
If we are being honest, Valerie Harper had great chemistry with eveyone, even Kenneth McMillan. He was great and gave the show two more seasons. This episode is funny even tho the actual soul had already been sucked out of this show by this point in the run.
He's nice looking but far from gorgeous. Brenda's boss, Sam Ellis from season 3, "Second Time Around" played by Frank Converse, was gorgeous. Too bad Rhoda wasn't ready for a new relationship, Sam was crazy about Rhoda.
Karin N I think he looks better in the mask. What I don’t understand is what’s with all the putdowns of Rhoda. The writers seem intent on her degradation this season. It’s too bad, but given the writing, I think the series ended not a moment too soon.
One person didn't like this compared to millions of Americans who had lost interest in the series during 1978. Like, it is is a pity...like wow. Tina doesn't go...she goes she goes like she goes...no where.
CaptainGrimsdale You really need to learn how to construct sentences. Your grammar is atrocious. For that alone, I wouldn’t trust anything that you wrote. Take an online course and improve yourself.
CaptainGrimsdale By the way, I would be interested to know what you have been in on television? I really think it’s hilarious when people try to criticize others and they haven’t even tried or succeeded in that field whatsoever. 😂🤣😂

I am utterly flummoxed as to who decided Benny belonged on this show. He's a dreadful actor and a boring character. Everyone else is charismatic and wonderful. Why would Brenda be with such a total loser? I have to fast forward through scenes with him, which means I haven't seen much of this season!
Why did the writers continue to make Rhoda acting as if she should apologize for being her fabulous self!?! Her constant insecurities-- DEPRESSING! Joe should've wanted her in his life after she took off to Paris. It would've been perfect and romantic! And finally buying a house!!!
A mask on an elegantly dressed person never grows old😊
Thanks for the upload. ❤
One of Rhoda's best lines was on the 2nd episode of MTM. "this is my date mister AND MRS Armand Linton""
And "allow me to introduce myself... I'm another person in the room"
Rhoda looks Gorgeous in that gown purple is her colour.
Yes!
Purple was her color. This was over 40 years ago. Hugs!
Those perms never did Valerie any favors but she always looked great without a bra. In 1978.
Rhoda got her heart crushed when her husband left her…
Yes, but she survived and was better than ever.
I liked Brenda's previous boyfriend with the jeans store. Was that Ron Silver? He was very funny
Yes that was Ron Silver, not only washed funny, he was a very sexy sweet man, RIP Ron Silver 💖💔💖
Sorry, meant to say "was" not washed..omg

Poor Rhoda. He was cute!! He looked familiar but I don't know that I've seen him in anything. I think he just reminded me of someone.
Emily Edwards He was the ex convict dating Terrry in Three's Company. The one stung by a bee in Janet's shop.

straight out of I LOVE LUCY Lucy Wears The Loving Cup

This episode reminds me a lot of when Lucy got the loving cup stuck on her head
Thanks a mil spoiler
Yes! My thought exactly. One of my favorite episodes 😂
@@SandyCheeks63564 Perhaps you should save reading comments for AFTER watching shows that are over 40 years old?
Yes!
The writers killed the show after Joe (David Groh) left the series. It could have easily lasted another 3 seasons.
dm9542 Joe, nice guy though he was, had no comedy potential. Even Tina is funnier.

I agree, tbh I didn’t like his character at all lol he wasn’t funny and wasn’t so cute in my opinion
Joe was a downer
Gosh she crushed Brenda's moment again
What was Rhoda drinking at the end of the show in a wine cup Hi-C orange drink ?
champagne
Erik, There wasn’t anyone like Rhoda 😃
Tina sounds like a Bronx Valley Girl!
She was supposed to be a pothead
Rhoda.. why did you perm your hair..?
That was her natural hair.
Her hair looks decent in this episode but there are some episodes with this style where her hair looks terribly unflattering.
This is her natural hair- it is not a perm
The perm is her natural hair. I think that she looks as gorgeous as ever and that this style is good for comedy.
Sorry, not seeing the magnificence of her date. He's alright, seems nice.
I was thinking precisely the same. He's definitely not a stunner.
At 8:50 Rhoda says "a lot of drugs" but abruptly skims past it. I don't think that was in the script, lol
She actually says: a lot of drunks
Horrible. Why do i find it to be like comfort food ? The show was so bad at this point, we just watched because the characters were so beloved.
Fun fact: Ray Buktenica who played Benny, was in a relationship with Joyce DeWitt from 1973 to 1980
I loved Joyce DeWitt!!

Granville Van Deusen! Why do i keep watching ( and commenting) on this rather crummy episode as time marches on?
Brenda does look good and so does her man Benny ! he is wearing a mask ! thanks
He's nice looking but far from gorgeous. Brenda's boss, Sam Ellis from season 3, "Second Time Around" played by Frank Converse, was gorgeous. Too bad Rhoda wasn't ready for a new relationship, Sam was crazy about Rhoda.
Frank Converse was gorgeous! What a waste! Granville van Dusen was a very busy actor in those days and considered quite the catch
The actor who plays Doug looks a lot like Ted Bessel.
Karin N Beauty is in The eye of the beholder. Luckily for you.

I thought it WAS Ted Bessel. "That Girl."
These last episodes are painful

Christina Frank: Brenda is desperate.
Gary was a better match.
Yeah I totally agree!

Yes Benny is totally lacking in charisma. Brenda deserves better.

The show was suffering from poor writing and directing.
I like Tina xD

WHAT are people laughing at ??? This script is abysmal.
Another unaired episode.
It is a bit of a stinker, yes.
No wonder the show was cancelled. This show stinks.
