HI Kevin , Apologies for the delayed response and thank you for the warming comment ( this is very endearing )-
Life has been a struggle over the recent years and hence this has compromised my abilities in the hobby due mental health and working double jobs to survive alone.
The hobby and the people in it have been my savour through this time, Of which I am humble thankful of..
I am now starting to get back bit by bit.
The new layout has already thrown challenges, but its the one thing I love solving and proving me even more scratch builds and projects that I will share when I can.
Again look after yourself too buddy, wishing all the best as always..
      Cheers for now..

Good to see you back here. It's horses for courses, but personally I agree with you about watching trains go by. Your idea of taking trains "off-stage" and down into a sidings lower down before they reappear is a great one: I've done that in the past: years ago (in the DC days) we had a set of sidings under one part of the layout, and they were connected up with a diode matrix that I found described in an ancient Railway Modeller. Can't say I understood it, but it allowed one train to come into the sidings and another to depart, with the result that it could be 5 or 10 minutes before a train you saw go past reappeared.

Welcome back Garry, missed you but didn't worry about you. So glad to hear that you got your priorities right and looked after the family needs first. I aways thought your layout was in the attic. The dampness of the UK is one thing I do not miss. The new plans/vision sounds great and you have a goal to work towards but of course we all have to make compromises so it will be with great interest that I shall watch it all unfold.

    Hi Garry.
Great to see you back and looking as young & handsome as ever 😄.
Hope all your recent trials and tribulations are behind you now leaving you with a clear enough head to continue with your new project.
It's most frustrating and annoying when dampness creeps in to a shed layout. Fortunately, you have a spare room, whereas a lot of enthusiasts are restricted in that respect. All you have to be mindful of now is that you leave enough space in between rail joins to avoid buckling in the upcoming hot weather as heat often becomes trapped in spare rooms due to their infrequent use.
As for your old layout, what a shame it is to see Baker Street ripped out of its location. I really hope you find a good place for it on your new project as for me, it was my favourite construction, especially that novel idea of creating electrical flashes on the track using LEDs. I do hope it is used again on the new layout.
Finally, great job you've done on the 'Dreadnoughts'. When you first mentioned the name, I immediately thought you were referring to the Dreadnought carriages that were constructed on the old GWR and were used on the Paddington to Penzance line as part of the Cornish Riviera express.
Looking forward to your next upload so do take care Garry,
    Paul. 👍

    • @cheekytek

      Hello Paul.
Many thanks for your kind message, I all okays and have been looking after myself well for a while sadly its my younger generation thats struggling where I needed to put them first.. 2022 was very kind to me but it had some last minute spins..
As for the new space I dont think the door will be closed as im always in there - luckily my house is 75% cooler in hot summers than the shed so everything will be great on either side of weathers..
I intend to use the flash effects more so and may incorporate BAKER STREET its a plan to replicate the hole layout but with a new dimension. Nothing will go to waste or just disappear as they are great modelling memories from that layout..
I guess time will tell the new story..
I finally finished them underground dreadnoughts and yes when searching details I found the GWR ones too / a wee bit different to say the least.
Well im cracking on with the build so I will catch you soon my friend. Take care and look after yourself / Wise words coming from me I know lol..
      All the best Garry.

Welcome back Garry, Sympathise with you 100% mate, been in the same boat myself 2022 is a year I definitely want to forget but like yourself finding a way and through building a model railway will help. For the record I don't do social media, FB a deffo no no but You Tube yes as it's an interesting place to be... besides gotta blame something to reignite my interest in model railways :)

I'm Absolutely with you there. 👍
Hate Hate - Facebook with passion as soon as you like something your phone rings / nightmare or maybe I am looking at the wrong pages LOL
My younger generation needed my focus of recent as its been hard on them all with the family break up and my older daughter had heart surgery recently so social media had to DO one in my opinion LOL..
YEAH love RUclips but I was struggling with the idiot that lives aside to me by creating outrageous noise and other things that mentally got me down..and has before, hence the loosing the shed now..
I have now discovered help with my modelling via SPEC SAVERS.
I can see better and it helps with the videoing too LOL
I now love being in the house making models and tinkering with trains etc..
The break and the relocating has certainly been a great process for me to travel further in to the future..
Thanks again and look after yourself.

Nice to see you back Gary, your modelling skills are great, and the shed layout was superb but as you say dampness is the elephant in the room. So looking forward to the new build in drier climes ,the old layout was very atmospheric, onwards and upwards

    • @cheekytek
      @cheekytek  Год назад

      Absolutely and thats so true..
With the cost of heating two areas going forward when I have half an empty house is just bizzar realistically - so its a no brainer at this point - The old layout is small enough to relocate some of those scenes so it going to be an exciting journey.
      I think 😂

Welcome back, Garry! Job one is take care of family and yourself, so no apologies needed for getting things right and away from the distractions. Like many, it is sad to see such great work go, but greater work is to come. Plus, you are happier with it, so it is a win all around. (I have dealt with mental health all my life and work with folks struggling). Just focus on you and family and post as desired. With all your talents, it shall be very cool to see how you bridge your two worlds of model train (diorama style vs. end chaser). Best wishes to you and yours. Take care!

Great to see you back on here Garry. Wow, things are certainly changing! You must be very excited about the new build, sounds great, and certainly much better being indoors. Of course it will be sad to see the old layout go, it really was a master piece, the area and era it represented brought back so many memories for me, such a wonderful bit of modelling. I cannot even imagine what the new one will turn out like, I am just really looking forward to see how it comes along. Good luck with it, and enjoy your modelling in a much nicer environment.

Exactly as you have said, Yeap I love the old layout and its just one of those sacrifices - my neighbour is part if the hassle and has caused many issues that I wont share lol, hence the damp..
      Looking forward to now...
This will be great for me as already I have found a happy zest in rebuilding with a lot of what I have learned from the old build so feeling positive on this one...

Welcome back Gary Mate. Family always comes first, Always! Strange I have also not been as regular uploading videos as my younger daughter out of the blue had a baby at 19. Huge shock and terrified us at first but would not swap him for the world. He has just turned 1 and Daughter and boyfriend have just got a lovely place together. She has really grown up with this and things are actually working out really well. As for the layout I think because this Winter has been colder. More condensation and moisture. Had the same problem.
    Richard

      Hi Richard,
you have had a busy year too, yeah our kids somehow have this knack to terrify us, but we always put them first.. thats what dads doo..
Glad things are leveing out with your family and I wish them all the best on their little journeys..💕
My oldest daughter needed heart surgery just recently we have been waiting most of 2022 to get life on track for her as its been so hard on her and the gran kids to deal with.. Its been many sleepless nights but we are almost there with one more operation if needed soon - my fingers are firmly crossed...
With not being in the shed last year and with the constant noise pollution in the garden from Idiots shouting its been a horrible environment to do any kind of modelling of late. And yes its has been colder than previous times over winter so I am not surprised that I have damp out there.
I am more me of lately and doing what us humans are supposed to do - Enjoy life as much as I can 🤪
Take care of yourself Richard and many thanks for your message, it means a lot.. 👍
