Fab video Lawrie, some superb layouts on display again this year. Was great stopping and chatting to yourself and the team on the Saturday. Cheers for the great content.
This was a lovely calm video. I was particularly glad to get a closer look at Harlyn Pier, a layout I stumbled across pictures of years ago and which I dearly want to recreate as part of a route in Train Simulator.
35:20 I've never seen a British S gauge layout before. American Flyer has been known for making S gauge since 1945 (although Lionel now owns the brand). The Thomas Trackmaster motorized toy trains are roughly S gauge so those could potentially be kitbashed into proper S gauge rolling stock. 38:50 I love that train of new London Underground stock heading to their new home. I would love to see you do a collab with Jenny Kirk one day. Maybe even one with Sam'sTrains?
Looked like a excellent event, shame I couldn't get there. Statfold is one of the shows I will be visiting soon as it isn't too far to get to. And yes to a collaboration with Jenny
One thing I learned from this and speaking to James Hilton over on his blog, I really should have attended on the Sunday. Oh well, I own some lovely performing Conrail liveried locos, (soon to become NS locos,) plus a Ruston, even if it is an 07 rather than a 48.
29:20 they really are amazing looking kits, I have an engine shed to build from them along with a signal box interior, not to mention some window frames for my W&U tramway building
56:00 Heck yes I'd like to see a collaboration project between you and Jenny. It was a great pleasure meeting both of you at the show, despite not expecting either to attend and I think a joint project would be grand.
I enjoyed that, about to start making my way through my own footage. I somehow completely missed Rushwick which was a shame. My daughter and I got very little footage of Leigh Bridge as it was very popular and people seemed content to stand and watch for ages. I must have been stood next to you at Barton Road when the PA sounded as i was filming the same train at the same time, but didn't clock you at all. Would have said hello if i had.
Whilst not a railway modeller myself I greatly appreciate the huge efforts that go into these layouts. One thing I have always been curious about is getting the scale speeds right so they look good on a layout but don't have shunting engines etc hooning along at 60mph?
Will you be at this year's Doncaster show?? It was amazing to see all of that, I'm planning to go to the Saturday 10th this year, wondered if you'd be there so I can try and come and say hello. Either way it looks like an amazing show, and I can't wait to get there and have a look around. So much inspiration for what to add to my layout plans too.
@@lmm ooo, that's really exciting. Is it also alright if I bring you a gift too? was planning to make something for you specifically but I only got part way through before I got ran off my feet with Christmas madness levels of busy so couldn't attempt to get it to you for Christmas gone unfortunately. (I was already planning a visit to the Lcut creative stand too, their kits and work looks awesome)
@Lawrie's Mechanical Marvels you'd be surprised mate his got a lot of time for enthusiastic people and model railways, he helped those people who had there club vandalised
Seeing just the layout of Overlod, I cannot wrap my brain around either A) being in the armed forces at this time or B) being a dockyard or railway worker having to take part in this. The most fascinating, or terrifying, aspect is that compared to the real thing, this layout is tiny
I've seen Operation Overlord a couple of times in the flesh. The amount on the layout is just beyond words
It's stunning isn't it
an operator of Overlord here, it was a great to finally meet you in person. its so weird hearing what my voice sounds like on video
Super to meet you guys too. It's such an amazing layout - I hope to be able to come and film with the thing at some point!
Great to watch your video, Laurie - see you at the show, next year? H
I'm sure you will! Was a good show

Me and Sam have chatted about doing something - still trying to work on an idea

It was a good show!
Nah, keep them Conrail. They stand out way better compared to other units today lol.
@@IndianaNorthWestern they do indeed, but I'm building up a collection of each of the locos that NS owned between 1982 and 1986
I loved the mini Atlas
Me too!
what a relaxing video
Glad you enjoyed it!
Some really nice layouts on display. Might entertain going to this next year.
It's a really good show. Nice way to start the year off
Hope the quashqai owner got sorted 😜
😂 😂
Some very impressive layouts loving operation overlord, that must have taken years to complete!
I think it's 30 years old!
its been going to exhibitons for 28 years now, and it still not complete, stuff is still being added
@@lmm Good grief!
Excellent vid! Nice Layout at 36:19. Nicer Layout at 37:45. (right side)
It's a very impressive set up!
Hello Lawrie's Mechanical Marvels
Hi
I enjoyed that, about to start making my way through my own footage. I somehow completely missed Rushwick which was a shame. My daughter and I got very little footage of Leigh Bridge as it was very popular and people seemed content to stand and watch for ages. I must have been stood next to you at Barton Road when the PA sounded as i was filming the same train at the same time, but didn't clock you at all. Would have said hello if i had.
Ah sorry! Next time?
@@lmm No doubt, i seem to do a lot of these sort of things lately
Nice video Lawrie
Glad you enjoyed it
Yes see, the meeting of the Jenny and our multiple conversations were joyus! Get the Collab with Jenny done! She's good People!☺️
We're planning something!
Whilst not a railway modeller myself I greatly appreciate the huge efforts that go into these layouts. One thing I have always been curious about is getting the scale speeds right so they look good on a layout but don't have shunting engines etc hooning along at 60mph?
It's a fine ballance of making progress and looking correct!
Will you be at this year's Doncaster show??

Yep! I'll be on the Lcut stand both days

@@DMCRailways of course! Look forward to seeing you!
The S guage engines look like the engines from the Isle of Man. Interesting layout.
Very interesting set up
Interesting noting the U boat.
I saw you there on the Sunday at the KR models stand but was scared to say hi
Oh you should have said hi! I'm quite friendly
Cool
I agree
I love the videos you took of Alston! Did you use two cameras?
We had three cameramen running round to try and catch everything!
Glad you enjoyed it
Hey lawrie what’s the biggest layout in the UK 🇬🇧😁👋👍any scale
This makes me want $1,000,000 for model trains.
Same here!
lawrie you should make contact with rod Stewart and do a video on his layout that one will amaze you
I somehow don't think I'm big enough for him to know who were are or want to work with us
@Lawrie's Mechanical Marvels you'd be surprised mate his got a lot of time for enthusiastic people and model railways, he helped those people who had there club vandalised

Yep. It's such a useful tool for visualising, without even talking about it being an impressive layout
Big up n gauge
Some great N there too
is that your brother ?
Amazingly not
@@lmm 2 peas in a pot i have to say !
First lmao
Good show
