Good morning Oscar, it's Martin from Hull in the East Riding of Yorkshire. Just watched your video about your visit to the model railway show and what a great show it was. But for me your layout is the best, it represents a time in history showing what you could buy in a model railway shop at that time in history. It brings back so many memories for me. I remember when my dad came home with a box of Triang track, the one with grey moulded ballast and sleepers. I had so much fun putting it together with my dad on the carpet. Oh how I miss him so much, he introduced me to the world of railways, and then i was hooked. I started work on British Rail when i was 15 and the rest is history as they say. So for me your layout Oscar is like a time portal, and an excellent one at that. So all credit to you, you're doing a great job ,well done. I shall look forward to your next video. Keep safe and best wishes. 🙂👍🚂
Good afternoon Martin thank you again for watching and the very kind words, it's great to hear you're enjoying the videos and finding them interesting.
All the best.
Oscar
Hi Oscar, you had me going there for a minute with the cable drums. I've been working on a Hornby Dublo Liverpool Cables diorama for sometime and I thought I had seen all the vintage models available. "Where did Oscar find those?!.". I thought to myself. Then you revealed that you had made them on your 3D printer. Really nice job, they really look the part! All the best, Guy
Good morning Guy, I had made these cable drums for some Tri-ang wagons a little while ago and when getting out these Hornby Dublo well wagons I thought they would look quite good as a load for them as well, Glad you like the look of them.
All the best.
Oscar
@@oscarpaisley Yes they look really good. I meant to compliment you on the opening sequence too, I thought the framing and composition was was excellent. I have rewatched it several times. I think the colour palette used by Hornby Dublo is particularly photogenic. All the best Guy
Hi Oscar,
Just a few words to thank you for the inspiration that I have found from watching your videos.
I have recently begun collecting Dublo, but really like your idea of running Triang alongside. It provides such an enjoyable (and broader) scope for "vintage" running. I have also found your knowledge ( and generosity in sharing it)
an "easy watch".
Keep on playing trains!
All the best, Jon.
Good morning Jon glad you enjoyed the videos, thank you so much for taking the time to comment with these very kind words, it's hugely appreciated.
Take care.
Oscar
Some great sights at that show Oscar, I enjoyed the footage. The introduction segment was just pure Hornby Dublo magic, Excellent entertainment. Best regards to you
Good morning Mr Snooze glad you enjoyed that it was great fun putting that together, but a little time-consuming!
Take care.
Oscar
Thanks Oscar, the open day looked great, lots of layouts. Good to see the progress on your layout, I've just bought a load more 3 rail as I recently aquired a Dublo 3 rail Deltic, so I felt I needed more track to run it on, the track does need a clean but generally in useable shape, quite a number of electric points, and electric uncouplers, which do look a bit odd, not had chance to test them yet.
Good morning Paul glad you enjoyed the look at the open day. sounds like you're going to have a great deal of fun now you have a bit of 3-rail to play with, I've got a couple of the electric un couplers, I'm planning to install them somewhere on the railway, I have a couple of the manual ones already installed but have run into trouble uncoupling between old metal coupling and plastic couplings and plastic to plastic they don't seem to want to play.
All the best.
Oscar
Hello Oscar! Great work on the layout, it's a pleasure to see it expand with all those great trackwork you've done there. Another wonderful Sunday watching your video. Cheers!
Hi Chris glad you enjoyed to look over the railway it's been great fun developing this so far, with much more to look forward to. Thanks again take care.
Oscar
Another great video Oscar layout is coming on amazing 👍
Hi thanks again for watching great to hear enjoyed it.
All the best,
Oscar
The Hornby Dublo 2 6 4T was one of the best RTR ever produced. Nothing like finding a 1950s and 1960s HD 2 6 4T in original box and still in pristine condition.
Good morning Oscar, such an enjoyable look at the railway open day. So true not seeing model projects develope, they always just appear never seeing all the hard work and time that goes In realising them. Nice to see parts mid or early stage being done. The railway room layout has certainly changed, i keep forgetting that the tracks only have one point of connection, there are no power bus cables with droppers around the room. So fantastic what one has achieved in the room again, all best for the elevated section. Until the next video, Marc
Hi Marc glad you enjoyed the look at the footage of the open day. I'm hoping to improve the continuity a little with the railway as time moves on, but quite pleased with how it's gone so far not losing too much through the series 3 point work.
Thanks again take care.
Oscar
Great video Oscar. Hope you are keeping well. Take care.
Good morning Adrian thanks again for watching, we're all well here, all the best.
Oscar
Excellent running on your layout today Oscar. I am quite surprised that you can back those wagons through so many reverse curves without any derailments. It is amazing hw a few little changes to the trackwork can add so much more to the operations o the layout. The 3D printed cable drums look terrific. It would appear that I timed my visit a little bit off as the open day at the Blyth and Tyne MRS looked great, so much talented work on display. Regards, David.
Morning David I'm having some good fun on the railway at present all though time seems to be always running out! glad you like the look of those cable drums, I was quite pleased with them. The open day was good fun too, it was the same club that put on the show last June at the community centre with the great looking church .
Take care.
Oscar
Very interesting visit to the open day, Oscar. It’s quite a change to see a layout in progress rather than in “exhibition “ mode. At first I was quite alarmed to see to pots and tools around then I realised that the layout was “at home”. Great progress on your own layout. The overhead line is looking interesting. Look forward to seeing where it goes. Thanks for starting my Sunday again. Roy.
Good morning Brian glad you enjoyed the footage from the show and the update on my railway.
All the best.
Oscar
Great video this morning Oscar, some great footage from the show that you attended, from t(e looks of it some great looking layouts there, I attended a model railway show recently as well, the one I attended was the Pontefract and Normanton show. I didn’t come back empty handed of course as I had purchased a bachmann class 90 in the virgin trains livery.
Hi David great to hear you attended the Pontefract and Normanton show hope you had a great day out and that you're pleased with your class 90.
Thanks again for watching.
Oscar
Interesting video Oscar thx.
Thank you again for watching great to hear you found it interesting.
Take care.
Oscar
Interesting to see the Fence Houses layout - I have a model railway magazine from the early 1980's that featured a layout of the same location in 2mm, in either the pre-grouping or grouping era. Also as a Lego fan, it's always nice to see a Lego train layout at an exhibition.
Great to see all this vintage stock running so well. I started out with Triang series 3 and super 4 track, never had Hornby Dublo. Somewhere I have my father's Trix Twin which is 3 rail but AC I think. I am being inspired to find it and see if it still runs!
Hi thanks for watching great to hear you've enjoyed seeing these old items in action on the railway and that you have your fathers Trix Twin, I'm not that familiar with it but got to see a great display of it at the TCS show a little while back I've included a link below. It really is a tremendous looking model railway.
All the best.

Thank you Oscar for another superb video. I really like your mix of vintage 3 rail Hornby Dublo & Tri-ang Series 3 tracks. I enjoyed scenes you filmed at train show. I am guessing that Tyne means show was in the Newcastle area? This Canadian is is curious as to where show was held.
Hi glad you enjoyed the video, the show was in an area outside of Newcastle called North Shields situated near where the River Tyne enters the North Sea about 8 miles easts from Newcastle city centre, North Shields has a very rich history associated with the sea.

Hi Oscar.
Was the Dustpan shunter at 11min's 53sec's DCC ready? Also, I didn't recognise
its livery. Is it LNER?
Paul.
No, it’s official: I liked the first layout you had. Could you put it back please
Greetings. It is always a thrill to see your layout! Your point switches are lovely. Did you print them up? Best wishes.
Hi Christopher glad you enjoyed seeing the railway, all points switches is in this video are originals.
All the best.
Oscar
Hi Oscar, what a great job you have made of developing your layout, impressive. Enjoyed the footage of the model railway exhibition, and free admission! Is there a chance you might give us an insight into producing the 3D printed items you have produced, very interested in the reproduction cable drums you have made. Thanks for sharing.
Hi glad you're enjoying seeing the development of the railway and the footage from the open day. I will show more of the 3-D printed items in future and how I made them but I am sort of just working my way through getting what I need from the 3-D printer, I never really have enough time to devote to it.
Thanks again take care.
Oscar
Hiya Oscar - Just notice with you adding new track with more points - do you miss having electric points with switches like you used to have on your old Layout??? 🤔🚂🚂🚂
Good morning Jimyjames, definitely miss the electric switches.
All the best.
Oscar
Hi Oscar,
Great opening sequence shots with the HD tank '80054'.
The elevated section is beginning to look really good and great to see these cable drums and 40 ton well wagons again.
Can I ask about the depth of the section where the HD turntable is ? I am still waiting for a joiner to come and build a layout table in the loft as I am not fit to do it myself. I am aware that 32 inches is a decent stretch but that section looks deeper or is it the camera angle playing tricks. Apologies but another question, what height is your layout ? 👏
Many thanks,
Gordon
Evening Gordon glad you enjoyed the opening shots it was a lot of fun getting those together. The depth of the railway near the turntable is 36 inches or 91.6 cm, strangely the hight is all so 36 inches, I've used that measurement all the way around, it varies a little going to alcoves and around the window, my last layout was too low down for me at about 32 inches in height and found it an annoying hight to work at a little extra storage the extra few inches. Hope you get sorted out with a joiner shortly.
All the best.
Oscar
@@oscarpaisley Hi Oscar, I’ll say good morning as it probably will be by the time you open this.
I was thinking about 30” in depth and wasn’t sure about height so your figures are a good guide, many thanks and much appreciated.
Best regards,
Gordon
Good Morning to you Oscar from Glasgow did you see the Estfeeld T.M.D at the show and Thanks for the video 📹 you coming to Glasgow for Model Rail Scotland this Year
Good morning Cameron the name sounds familiar but I don't remember it from this particular show. There were quite a number of other displays much was not named in the club room. Sadly I don't have the time available to me to visit model Rail Scotland later this month all the Doncaster show, I'm trying organise the time to visit the TCS show in early March but these plans are currently uncertain.
Take care.
Oscar
Hi Oscar ,, I cant wait to build my layout and run my dmu's (and many other trains of course) as i eneded up with a few sets of the green dmu's like you have on your layout there.
I also aquired one of the newer types of dark green hornby three car dmu diesels sets as well and have it has a ringfield motor in it so I will be looking forward to running them too.
I just love the sound of the knurled wheels on the tracks from the older dmu's.
I also ended up getting a few more centre cars as well of latenfor the older traing.
Did they actually run more than the 2 cars or were there multiple units as in like three four five or six car dmu sets.
We here in oz run anything up to 8 car sets (electric) and used to run up to 10 car emu sets which were single decker stainless steel carriages called U Boat carriages or "The Fish" as it was known in the day and use to run from Sydney to Gosford and Sydney to Lithgow back in the day.
I havent forgotten about your bits I am going to send you its just that I havent had the time to dig them out as of yet as I have been sorting through most of my stuff.
I also have to check to see if the tracks are ok as I have not seen them for a while and didnt take much notice the tracks i want to give you are the grey tacks with the clips in them but as i said I will go through them to see if they are any good and usable before i send them to you.
I also scored another joblot of the super 4 track with around 10 sets of points all electric and a heap them orangey coloured track risers the same as you had in 1 of the older layouts you had with the suspension bridge in it.
There are 149 pieces all up so im not sure if there are 2 sets as there seems to be alot of pieces but all of the risers are there (i think).
I also got a R.56 4-6-4 baltic loco with mark 2 couplings and is near perfect conditon except for the slight bow in it and half the chimney is missing. It wasnt running but thanks to you and guys like OObill it is running as if it was brand new.
I also got 4-6-2 old triang steamer with 2335 on the tender with smoke unit and even has a light in the front of it which i dont think the other 3 have got.
Another R.78 moldex bridge a heap of carriages and a box of super 4 (i think) track the black version and the dark brown versions of it.
Its the same track as what you are running on the inside of your present layout. I got all it for $150 ausd so the train gods were smiling on me that day. Anyhoo enough of me waffling on and time for bed.
Cheers from John in Australia.
Evening John I'm glad you like the DMU's I think they're great models I have to admit I'm unsure of the configuration they were used on the railways here. I have it in mind I used to ride on three car sets between Halifax and Manchester frequently back in early to mid 80s very noisy with lots of vibration and an amazing smell of diesel fuel and exhaust fumes. The model railway gods really were shining down on you that's an amazing group of items you've acquired. The steamer with 2335 on the side seems to have been available with and without smoke with and without a light and with both over the years, or neither, another really lovely model, the video coming this Sunday has a Baltic tank with a bit of a bend in it, also great looking items.
Thanks again take care.
Oscar
Is it just me or those coaches that the black princess /duchess is pulling are slightly warped? I've got one with no warping but with no buffers. You're welcome to it as I've no use for it.
Hi thanks for watching those coaches of mine with the black princess definitely have a bit of distortion to them, it would be great to have one distortion free if you no further use for the one you have. You can get in touch with me at the email address below.
All the best.
Oscar
oscarpaisley.triangchannel@gmail.com
@@oscarpaisley sure thing but as I say it has no buffers. Hope you can find some replacements.
Just wondering if you have ever tried other guages Oscar.....?
Hi David, apart from a bit of a play with some O gauge clock work as a child that wasn't mine sadly, I've only had the OO and a little Playcraft HO.
Thanks again take care.
Oscar
Did Hornby ever make a wagon with the old coupling on one end and the D coupling on the other so you could run your Dublo stock with later Triang and Hornby? Triang definitely had such a wagon for theirs.
No. Hornby Dublo liked to ignore Triang as an inferior product and certainly not encourage Dublo runners to use any competitors products.
Triang being in a different position with the Triang-Hornby converter wagons after being asked by Hornby to take them over.
The aim of Triang was then to get existing Dublo users to add Triang products to their layouts with the converter wagons helping with coupling issues.
Hi @hanford65 thanks for watching and taking the time to comment, @john8892 has answered your question perfectly in the attached comment. I wonder how many made the own conversions.
All the best.
Oscar
Was there a , A4 in the 3 rail range?
Absolutely. Right from the beginning launch of Hornby Dublo in 1938 the first two locomotives were an A4 and the 0-6-2T tank that Dublo never called an N2. Both in three rail electric and a rarer two rail clockwork version on non insulated track like the three rail track without the centre rail.
Took until well after the war before the next locomotive was offered.
A three rail A4 remaining in the range until the murky end of three rail production in the early sixties.
liking your layout but you have years to get up to your standard, my layout has taken me over 9 years to hide the wiring from under the baseboard plus all the points are operated via switches,
plus have got my turntable on a electric motor good luck for the future
