As much as I love this animation and the blending, I do have one quibble with the 10th trailer: Guilliman should never look despairing and defeated like that. Tired, frustrated, haggard... but not despairing. He didn't despair at Calth when he thought he'd lost everything. He didn't despair when he thought that the Emperor was dead and the Imperium had fallen, he started Imperium Secundus. When he woke up again in the Rift version of 40k, the Astronomicon had failed and daemons were literally attacking the Emperor's Palace. He was horrified by what the Imperium had become. So he paused, thought it over... and got to work. Theoretical. Practical. He observes, he analyses, he determines. Roboute, with his scratching quills and his plans and his hope. To me, he looks a bit too beaten down in the trailer.
He needs help. Fighting heretics, daemons, tyrannids, orks, and other aliens while having to lead the rotting empire strife with conflicts and betrayals is rather overwhelming even for a primarch.
I think that he's still being practical, but he's under a lot of stress. He looked at the map of the galaxy the same way that my friends look at chess boards.
@@rahman9749 Not to mention the hopes he had for a future of hope and technological advancement being shattered by the truth of the Imperium decaying as it was when he woke up. Remember, he went to sleep before the rot came in, back when things looked better and hope and logic was the norm.
I'd be despairing tbh when he was wounded humanity was picking itself back up. When he wakes up he finds out it spent that time giving itself a collective lobotomy and is now to retarded to do anything right.
That’s the point, he’s All Alone. He needs his brothers there, he’s not a monolith like his father, he can’t hold together the galaxy without help, and at this point, all he has had was enemies or obstacles. They were prepping us for more primarchs returning like Rogal Dorn
I like this guiliman - his face looks so ageless which makes him look so perfect and distant from normal men, but his expression tells a different story. It really projects the aura of a primarch imho.

Really. Surprised we are in the 10th Edition. It hasn't been...what? 4 years since 9th released? And they JUST released a new 9th edition rule book for one of the factions and minor faction? GW has a nasty habit of doing that. The reason why I never got into their tabletop game. I could buy a whole army (which cost me more than I care to admit), struggle on painting it, and when I finally get to play it. They change the rules and the army is a dumpster fire trash and 90% of the units I have. I cannot even play. All because there are no new rules for them. That is the shit I hate. Ok so from how I understand it, it’s been like 20 minutes since Baal, how the heck did leviathan get back up to strength and not only get across the galaxy, but go outside and around it to attack the imperium?
Aside from how the tendril that assaulted Baal was only a small part of the flank that makes up the Tyranid forces of the Third Tyrannic War? Leviathan apparently was making a second push into the galaxy from an entirely different angle while Baal was being assaulted, one so large that is considered the Fourth Tyrannic War already. Marines are nowhere near unkillable, but they are significantly tougher and stronger than any currently living human. But yes, Tyranids are unearthly strong, with extremely powerful natural weapons. For the longest time i thought space marines had boring lore and now that i have dove into it. It is by far some of the best lore in video game history ever.
If you look at that guardsmen's eyes, they're purple. Which means he's from Cadia. He saw the fall of his planet, destroyed by the eye of terror, he heard the stories of lasgun fire firing out even as the planet was torn to boulders. And then he essentially gets his prayers answered when Titus shows up. "His angels...". That dude basically watched his planet get destroyed by hell, then pretty much got saved by god
Something about the Despoiler, and the green spot next to the red one.😂 I guess fighting against the Tyranids will give the Empire precious time to figure out the enemy.
I have no knowledge of any of this lore, but every clip I see looks so bad ass it makes me want a full movie or show. I hope Cavill can actual bring this world to the big/small screen.
For me, the 2nd clip at 4:10 convey the feeling and the idea that I have of Space Marines fighting way more than the 1st clip. In the 1st you feel like they're nothing special, even if it is against some Tyranids, dying like flies, not doing much of killing themselves compared to how many died, the big guy with the glowing axe not even holding 2s against an attack on its shield etc. They look like the standard human soldiers from Starship Troopers or something In the 2nd, it's a whole other thing. It feels like it's supposed to: they're the elite of the elite, few in numbers compared to the scale of the Imperium and the galaxy but very hard to kill and very efficient at killing, with the best of armor and weapons. They''re a rare and incredible sight for this random Imperial Guard, and even the Tyranids have a moment of doubt before going against only 3 of them. And this small group is completely destroyed without even scratching an armor, because it would take more than that to even kill one Astartes. In the 1st clip it looks like almost 1 Space Marine dies per 1 Tyrnnid killed, it's kinda lame.
Libarians kinda get fucked against nids, any psyker does, the shadow in the warp is hell for any psyker to have to deal with, and this is the biggest brain bug yet, so its no wonder the psyker lost. Also titus and his marines only fought gaunts and a normal warrior, the first trailer they was fighting much more lethal stuff including a screamer killer nad a prime, not to mention all the gaunts they absolutely massacred. Space marines arent immortal They are strong, but so is everything else in this galaxy.
It's his own fault for trying to hold the line single brained against a triad of Zoans, shoulda blipped out to reinforcements. The Gulliman trailer is good looking, at it does get the point across (at least to me) that astartes are literally dying from believing their own hype and holding or pressing, when they should withdraw or regroup. Also kinda annoying that they plod forward heedless of the fact that they have guns and the tyrannids they were fighting didn't. They all act like kriegsmen, damage to the enemy of supreme priority, over self preservation or tactical sense. just imo.
I don't know what it is but I love the Tyranids more than I should XD They are so cool, I love the lore behind them, their looks and I am so happy, we get new models
Meh. I think they’re one of the worst now. I preferred them in the artwork where they truly looked like horrific and terrifying alien monsters. Now they’ve just become big lizard-people with human weapons. Boring and doesn’t match the descriptions of them either.
Well ofc they portray the fights like this, but in the books one marine is mindbogglingly powerful, topple tanks obliterate armies, I mean just Yarric himself killed thousand upon thousands of orcs and hes a damn commissar.

Curious that they chose to make Guilliman use the term 'heretic'. I always got the impression he was still against the faith side of the Imperium deep down and just put up with them because they were useful. I would have chosen 'traitor', personally. Still an insane animation though!

I like the sense for details. 0:08 is nice depiction of Primarch Roboute Guilliman. After he ressurected from stasis he assumed the mantle of being Lord Commander of Imperium and Indomitus Crusade has started.
Glad to see Games Workshop is still embracing that videogame-cartoon aesthetic over that far grittier and more realistic Astartes. Really helps set the tone.
I always wonder about the surely massive storerooms of candles the space marines must have on hand, and how often they accidentally crush them with their gauntlets.

Yup. That’s a Tyranid Screamer Killer, a variant of the Carnifex. Named that for the high pitch scream they make right before they shoot a ball of plasma out of their mouth.
i can't be the only one who thinks this, but most space marine depictions always seem to make them seem so... average. they seem slow, ponderous and hardly superhuman like the way they're supposed to be. the astartes series seems to be the only one that gets it right - they're huge, fast and inevitable.
Against baseline humans. The Marines getting ripped to shreds, even though they are supposed to be the Second best (Custodes are better, one custodian equals about 10 Marines) things Humanity has to offer, is exactly why warhammer 40K is so terrifying. The Slace Marines are getting slaughtered. What is a Guardsman to do? What are citizens to do? Die even faster. This should be a good example as to why Humanity hasnt "won" yet.

I’m astonished at the amount of marine casualties actual sustained during this. Just shows how death is a duty no matter how equipped for combat the tyranids are a formidable force
I do like how they portray how slow a space marine probably would be. Even with mechanical assistance to move, that armor would be so bulky and not naturally prone to extreme movement. Maybe getting killed a little easily tho, that armor is like 2" inches think it looks like lol.
Space Marines are in fact extremely fast & agile. Watch the "Astartes" short film, it´s the only piece of media that portrays how a Space Marine moves, correctly to the lore. Power Armor is directly connected to the Astartes´ nervous system via a special cybernetic implant and it´s like wearing a second skin for them. Combined with their superhuman reflexes, Astartes move on the battlefield, so fast that normal humans many times perceive them like blurs. ( Custodes & Primarchs are even faster, a Primarch moves at speeds aking to Superman). Tactical Terminator Armor though, well those are in fact slow, but they´re literally tanks on 2 legs. They´re supposed to take and also dish out massive amounts of firepower.
Do note the stuff that killing them are the REALLY rare and expensive Tyranid critters like Carnifexes, Warrior Primes, and Maleceptors. Can a single marine shred a bunch of smaller bugs? Sure. Can they shred the bug equivalent of walking battle tanks? Eh.... Getting doubtful.
I see a lot of comments about how easily SMs die in this. It's because "Primaris". A lesser (in effect, as on paper they are supposed to be better) and more numerous version of the real deal. You have to remember that out of the millions of inhabited worlds that make up the Imperium of Man, many hundreds of thousands would have never known war realized on the scale that would need a Space Marine 'intervention'. So when it happens, any joe citizen that actually saw one - a literal legend in the flesh, it's pretty much a Holy experience, LOL.
I mean, imagine a conflict breaks out in your city and you're deep in the shit and a group of green berets shows up and takes out the threat with ease...
It may not be a "holy" experience, but you'd never forget it.
Yeah, because if there's any space marine deployed, the situation is beyond repair and little to no guardsmen still breathing.
They call it "Transhuman Dread". Imagine seeing a 9 foot being in full battle armour that moves still with more ease and grace than any human and can hit 60mph at full sprint.
@@SEAL6Operatorand even those that do that doesn’t mean a wide scale deployment of multiple chapters worth. Hive worlds are home to billions if not tens of billions of people, the problem may only warrant a company of marines at a few locations. That means most people would never see one even if they are present on world. That makes them almost mythical, their appearance only reinforces this.
You really do feel for Guilliman here. He just has that look of "I'm surrounded by mediocrity. "
He really needs a competent support team.
if you are medricre because you can't stop a hive fleet 90% of the universe is mediocre, even with all the 20 primarchs and legions would be a really hard challenge to stop the tyranids.
How can you say that, not every spacemarine can have such plot armor as the important characters, in fact those spacemarines that died so he could live are his plot armor
I don't, his stupid codex astartes contributed to the mess the Imperium is in now.
@BigRedDragonFan well the lion is back that's a start
A minor start in the nurgle storm that is the imperium.
Tyrranids in lore: Quintillions upon quintillions just on a single planet
Tyrranids in game/media: A few thousand, maybe a million per planet
Space marines in lore: 1000 per chapter, 1 million through the galaxy
Space Marines in games/media: Expendable, they die en masse, no shortage to them.
Very true.
Do you even know, what a quintilion is? I don't think, you do.
@@Myuutsuu85 theres well over a quintillion life forms on our planet right now.. what makes you think the tyranids dont have that many on a planet? Things on the micro scale count.
@DJ B there is now way there are quintillions of Tyranids. They need biomass to create more of them and a lot of it as well because they're big ass bugs traveling through space. I would say at most, there's tens of millions of tyrants per hive fleet.
There's no way there's quintillions of nids per fleet. That's just way to much biomass
That was great... The action, violence, gore, speed, all of it... Seeing Guilliman animated was cool and shows how fantastic it would be to see the primarch animated...Bring that great art of 40k to 3D animated scenes is definitely stunning.
Who animates these? Is it a video game?
@@sphinx3195 All i can think of is it being part of Spacemarine 2, though, all the stuff I havent seen being released... Only the original trailer which starts at 4:20.
Maybe there is a series in the making of ultramarines vs leviathan tyranids. The graphical styles look very different, so i am assuming that it what that is gonna be.
Titus would never show such disdain for a guardsman. He demonstrated that in the first game. He wouldn't just ignore them like they didn't exist.
I Don't think he did, but I'm sure he had to assess the situation since he just landed and expelled a Tyranid horde. Would they play that cutscene out for 5 more seconds I could bet my ass he would turn around, greet the marines, and ask for a rundown of the situation at hand.
@@SpyroL33t Titus walks right past the guardsmen as they prostrate themselves before him, so he can take off his helmet and look at the Tyranid swarm flying in the distance.
@@Overonator True enough, but its been quite some years (in game) since we saw him last seeing how he has 2 more of those service studs. I think each stud represent 100 years of service, thats 200 more years since we last saw him, maybe someone, or something made him turn a bit more cold and stern.
Lets hope they don't change his entire personality, maybe he's just more weary of how he goes about greeting people. Since in the last game it didnt end so hot for him so if he doesnt behave and or goes willy nilly chatty watty with every low guard, the baddies will either kill the people he chat with cause ''oh he tryin to press chaos on them'' or some shit.
@@SpyroL33t That might be the angle last time wee saw Titus he was betrayed by a fellow Ultramarine and taken away by the Inquisition on possibility he was tainted by Chaos according to the Ultramarine that betrayed him. So it's possible his personality may have changed as a result of that.
@@SpyroL33t 200 years AND a demotion to Lieutenant at the very least. But a trip through the Primaris Protocol too. Intriguing.
So true
Guilliman is based on Alexander the Great / Julias Caius Ceasar but 40,000 years in the future and I feel like the facial features they gave him here are a much better representation of his historical counterparts than any other depiction of him in 40k lore.

I never tire of watching a thing Warhammer 40k. Who ever designed the Space Marine and the entire aesthetic was on to something. The cool factor is intense👍🏼
for anyone here not familiar with Warhammer 40k, the first trailer is the trailer to the 10th edition of the tabletop game. Not a new trailer for Space Marine 2
And a couple other clips, from space marine, and I think inquisitor. Along with the 10th Ed trailer.
Even some rules I wish they kept. But, noooo, they got to think about "Balance"....yeah. If they want balance. For everyone to play ONE faction and only that faction, with set units and abilities. Boom. Balance. Don't waste people's time. And of course, don't beg for money.
@@Qardo yeah releasing a codex right before 10th is kinda scummy. Nevertheless, 10th edition is such a radical revamp of how the game is played that it warrants a new edition. But they’ll at least release the rules for free and for each faction for free as well

20 min is like 40 years
Hive fleet leviathan is the hive fleet that invaded the ultramar system a long time ago . Ok guys I stand corrected it was hive Fleet behemoth .
This is for the release of 10th edition which has another hive fleet attacking from segmentum pasificus pretty much as the ultra smurfs are finishing up on Baal
@@aaronjohnston2751 I guess that’s the answer, I feel like they made such a point of it though how big of a fleet that arm of leviathan was, like they made it sound like they were getting the whole kit and kabootle in the devastation of Baal that it seems odd leviathan can regroup that fast, I mean it took 20,000 space marines and Dante’s butler to save 1 planets and 1 moon!

I was under the impression that space marines were almost un-killable, but they were getting shredded by those monsters in the first section. Are those aliens stronger than them?
Marines are nowhere near unkillable, but they are significantly tougher and stronger than any currently living human.
But yes, Tyranids are unearthly strong, with extremely powerful natural weapons.
The really bad thing is though is they adapt quickly, so your tactics have to constantly change. For instance if you were to exclusively use flamers, they’d eventually become fireproof
The trailer is BS honestly
There are only 1000 smurfs (The blue marines) in the entire galaxy at any given time and like 20 of them including a psyker (Think Doctor Strange level of power) die in 4 minutes, it would take a decade or longer to replace just those numbers because it takes literally a one in a million individual to survive what it takes to turn into a space marine in the first place
3 million human soldiers with 75 ships and the tau (Primitive blue people who developped some of the most advanced technology in the galaxy and are the newest smallest race to join the space battle, they use drones and gundams and long range weaponry) took out Hive Fleet Gorgon (Think a thousand ships carrying billions upon billions of the little guys you saw halfway getting smashed by the marines as it should be)

That quick Dylan Thomas reference, tho.
They look like the standard human soldiers from Starship Troopers or something
In the 2nd, it's a whole other thing.

Honestly the origins of the Necrons is one of the best stories in my opinion. The War for the Heavens. Victory through a universal defeat. Just Epic.
Blood Angel lost to the Black Rage: HORUS!!!!!
Tyranids: *confused screeching*
In the grim darkness of the future, there is only war. EPIC.
I do like how in the lore how freaking hard it is to kill a space marine and hell hpw hard it is to make one and then in thr trailers they are just slaughtered left and right lol
I mean they are fighting the more expensive point wise units, where if we take the average damage would normally wipe them out
Guilliman Have Largest Ultramarines, and yet he cannot save Sanguinis during Horus Heresy.
The Imperium when in trouble sends for the Space Marines
When the Space Marines are in trouble, they send for Captain Titus
This is better quality than anything i saw at Warhammer TV.
If they go with the live action tv series and the new game with its quality, Warhammer 40k will finally start getting the credit it deserves.
One of the best cinematic as always expected from Warhammer 40k
And now the Imperium has The Lion again as well....
I am willing to bet the Lion is going to be pissed off about everything

I like the sense for details. 0:08 is nice depiction of Primarch Roboute Guilliman. After he ressurected from stasis he assumed the mantle of being Lord Commander of Imperium and Indomitus Crusade has started.
Glad to see Games Workshop is still embracing that videogame-cartoon aesthetic over that far grittier and more realistic Astartes. Really helps set the tone.
I don’t understand how (or why) this isn’t a badass video game and movie franchise.
Henry Cavill is working on the movie or series part. There are games out.
Because the story is good but incomplete and never ending

I always wonder about the surely massive storerooms of candles the space marines must have on hand, and how often they accidentally crush them with their gauntlets.
If people only knew that Tyranids are the original Zerg...
Yeah. And hive mind buggish aliens are so much older than that. Starship Troopers was probably the earliest major appearance in pop-culture.

I like the Space Marine games depiction of an Astarte. It's more so accurate. They are supposedly very agile in their suit, bounce around, roll, or dodge easily, like they only have a shirt and pants on. They are very fast too. It's Noice.
The greatest lore ever created in any fantasy setting. It's superb, tense, gruesome and relentless.
4:00 every males fantasy
Space marine casualties are actually very low in most engagements
Better to die in service for the imperium, than live as a damnable heretic pawn for the forces of chaos.

I love how beefy the space marines walk sounds.
I came to Warhammer 40K through Warcraft, so imagine my surprise and delight when Warhammer 40k was the far superior media and I had so much material to discover.
I wish GW would put the Eldar into a game like this! Either as allies, adversaries or just as background characters! 40k is great but when everything is centred around space marines it is just boring and predictable.
feels illegal to watch something of that quality for free on youtube
1:30 Did the nid just vomit the plasma or whatever from the marines weapons?
it's tyranid bio-plasma
Yea it's like a bio plasma attach
Screamer killer it looks like. Look em up. It's the original carnifex model
Yup. That’s a Tyranid Screamer Killer, a variant of the Carnifex. Named that for the high pitch scream they make right before they shoot a ball of plasma out of their mouth.

I dont know anything about the whole 40k Lore but these 4k Vids getting me EVERY FCKING TIME
Guillimans speech is so badass here.
i can't be the only one who thinks this, but most space marine depictions always seem to make them seem so... average. they seem slow, ponderous and hardly superhuman like the way they're supposed to be. the astartes series seems to be the only one that gets it right - they're huge, fast and inevitable.
Lion: Brother, I heard about your afair with an El-
Guilliman: LION! Finally, you've came! Here! Make sure the strategic points and combat status of units are to be measured, calculated and precise while the Tyranid are at their lowest. Oh, and make sure the Space Wolves are incounted for. And the war machines, by the Emperor just do what you must!
Lion: Wha- Guilliman, please slow down-
Guilliman: I CAN'T SLOW DOWN, LION! Have you seen the Imperium lately!?!?
Lion: Yes, I seen it is quite a mess.
Guilliman: THAT'S WHY I NEED TO FIX IT! So go out there and help the Imperium against the enemy while I have to deal with the imperium from breaking itself! Oh boi, there goes that trillion billion of Imperial Credits debts. I'll see you soon.
Lion: (ō-ō) How long was I asleep?
Dante: My ten lives!
How are the ultra marines still around with attrition like this?
when the apocrathy is dying and sets of a grenade is pure commitment
I’m astonished at the amount of marine casualties actual sustained during this. Just shows how death is a duty no matter how equipped for combat the tyranids are a formidable force
There is nothing more Warhammer 40.000 than a deep Terminator strike!
@@doublep1980 ya I getcha, I just tend to look at it in a too realistic sense haha.
@@doublep1980Unless their in terminator armor, or one of 2 guys, Logan grimderp or some tall guy with dreadnaught parts for his armor
I see a lot of comments about how easily SMs die in this. It's because "Primaris". A lesser (in effect, as on paper they are supposed to be better) and more numerous version of the real deal. Agree on not enough nids dying tho. They seem to be better at conserving numbers, including frontline chaff, than IG/Astra Mil which is insane.
