      If you read the books, you might realise that Orks are actually incredibly formidable combatants. Their chief weakness is their lack of co-ordination, logistics, and accuracy.
      In close combat, 3 orks vs 1 tactical marines would be a pretty fair match up. Orks are as strong as marines. And about as tough unarmoured. Tougher if you consider their regenerative capabilities. You can literally chop of an Orks arm and stitch back onto another and Ork and it will still work. Marines can kind of do the same. But it would take a loooot more work and resources to do so.
      The armour, weapons, co-ordination and logistics are what give marines the edge. And the intelligence.

      @@АлексейВо-ф3ф All depends on the chapter and the situation. This is A) 10k+ years later than Horus time, B) this is a veteran marine getting probably armored up for the first time after becoming primaris and getting his new Mk.10 armor "fitted" and C) this seems to be ceremonial so the propper time and care is taken because they have the time to do so.
      Also, marines don´t spend each day in armor as well as not spending each day with putting it on and off. They can go for days or weeks without their suit during training periods or meditation or otherwise religous/social duties (all depending on the chapter) and in war, they wear their armor and weapons for days or weeks on end without so much as putting the helmet down.
      Last but not least, this is only one armoring chamber shown, a fortress monestry or a strike cruiser a have dozens to hundrets of these active at the same time.

      @@justinsummers8788 yes, perhaps, this is the answer. In the novel "The Ashes of Prospero" space wolves from 40k meet their comrades from 30k on Prospero, and also show the same difference in attitude toward the equipment. However, here we, probably, see some extreme form of worship. In 30k books it's obvious that space marines, at least, can perform maintenance operations with weapons and armor. Moreover, in books we see mostly oficers/commanders. Actually, only fraction of text describe everyday life of soldiers and scouts.

In any other context this would be a huge thing, but with SM's it's just an aftertought. The process of making them into ultimate warriors works so well they are no longer bound by aging, diseases etc. its almost a side effect. And it doesn't matter, because they live to fight and their lives are brief, but bright. They have an eternity to lose, yet they willingly put it on the line every time.

      You do know that starcraft was originally going to be a warhammer game correct?

    • @fatboy7609
      @fatboy7609 Год назад

      @Harrison Morgan That's not strictly true. Blizzard developed something Warhammer flavored with the first Warcraft game. They could do this because Games Workshop didn't get their act together for a decent RTS until Dawn of War. Warcraft and Warcraft II made stupid amounts of money. Starcraft was just beating Games Workshop to the punch yet again. And making stupid amounts of money yet again. At least that's how I remember it. There was a lot of lawsuit threatening, I don’t know if there was a settlement or not.
      Anyways, I am still pretty sure a couple serfs can get an Astartes in and out of his armor in a couple minutes. The ritual is in caring for the armor and bolter, or adhering blessings to it before deployment.
      Back to vid.
      Maybe, given the UltraMarine has 100 years of service, he was being elevated to a Sergeant or a Captain. Maybe the Space Smurfs discovered where Gargamel was hiding and declared some holy crusade? Who knows? The vibe feels off a bit off to me, like they weren't sure how to show what it means to be an Adeptus Astartes... and kind of pussed out and reskinned the Finley sequence from Starcraft II... but edgier!
      Be well and safe.

      I'm getting into Warhammer too, what I'm doing is mainly watching shorts and reading articles to learn some stuff about the lore(of which there's ridiculous amounts). The only Warhammer game I've played so far is Vermintide which isn't really in the 40k universe, but there's also Mechanicus which I've heard is good. Vermintide also has a counterpart called Darktide which is set in the 40k universe, I've heard the gameplay is fun but also that the game feels a bit barebones as of right now. But if you're more into the lore ig read some of the books, go on forums, etc.

      A Cherub (pl. Cherubim or Cherubs) is a cybernetic construct created by the Magi Biologis of the Adeptus Mechanicus for various adepta of the Imperium of Man, including the Adeptus Ministorum, the Inquisition, the Adepta Sororitas and the Adeptus Astartes. Cherubim are often used by Inquisitors with psychic abilities as familiars who can act to augment their powers.

      @@Corn_DOG I think he was referring to whoever made this animation bc to my knowledge there isn't many that show it like this which very obviously drew inspiration from the scene with tychus. Just because warhammer was around first doesn't mean they can't take inspiration from something based off of them i and they very well again could've taken this from that Starcraft scene lmao

      @Nepnep my point was that the origin of the entire starcraft universe was based off of 40k tabletop/lore so it is a bit ironic to call games workshop on borrowing inspiration
