Bruce really let us into his personal life with that album. If you listen closely to it, he's not singing a lot about characters he usually puts in his songs. You can tell he's singing about what was going on in his life at that time. It's amazing!
She’s pretty decent at harmonizing to Bruce’s voice. I wouldn’t consider her a “great” singer. And, for Bruce to say her voice turns it into a love song is just him trying to shine a light on his wife. It’s definitely NOT a love song, and that’s the beauty of it! It’s about self doubt and doubt in your partner and trying to reconcile that when you’ve already committed yourself to marriage. It’s 100% about his marriage to Julianne Phillips.
The "intro"... gets me every time and I wish I could see my brilliant disguise one more time here on Earth.. Beautiful song Beautiful interpretation. Thank you.
Tunnel of Love it's a great album. I was a teenager but Brilliant Disguise seemed so powerful but I didn't really understand it at all. Years later life gave me the experience and I knew at least what it was. Heart breaking album where Bruce showed us his deeper feelings and share wth us, the real fans. I love this song.

I have so often been annoyed by a dry mix when Bruce performs on tv/radio. But this mix is PERFECT! Gets out the very best of a stripped down E Street Band! We want more!!
