My stepdad is Irish Catholic from Philly. And he tells me with all seriousness, that "this is no less 'church." This is as much of a revival as anything a Pentecostal tent preacher does. Through my good decisions in life, as well as my bad decisions, there has been one constant. The music of Springsteen. His stories and lyrics either got me through my dark days, or they helped me appreciate the good days. They helped me realise when I was on top of the world, and also helped me realise when I was at my weakest. There’s an old saying that goes “when you’re on top of the world you hear the music, but when you’re at rock bottom you understand the lyrics”. Bruce has been there for both.
