This is the only video related to music that has actually made me cry of how beautiful music is. This performance is just magical and makes me realize how God made us humans with such talents to honor him and Music is a way to do it.
These guys are true musicians. Practicing right on stage, and they nailed it. Thanks Bruce and the band! They've got that massive crowd in the palms of their hands!!
To those saying it was rehearsed and pre-arranged, my dears, this is a two chord song. A school band can improvise on it and perform it like this. You don't even have to be a musician to tell that this was far from flawless and perfect, but it's so positive and lovely, that it's absolutely amazing.
When it comes to "superstars," all the acts at this level can do a highly produced, million-dollar stadium show. The world of the A-List rockstar is actually one of the easiest ways to do live music. The thing I love about Bruce Springsteen is no matter how big he gets, and no matter how massive an arena show he can command, you always KNOW he and his band could crowd themselves on a tiny stage in your local dive bar, play all night for maybe 20-30 people, and still deliver virtually the same kick-ass performance. I know I'll never see Springsteen in my neighbourhood dive bar. But just the fact that I *could* -no pyrotechnics, no autotune, no laser light show, just a bunch of guys plugging straight into their amps and blowing the roof off-is a reminder of how much real talent comes with the artist, and how vary little talent comes with all the superstar gimmickry.
Saw him ages ago in Asbery Park. Knew then what I still know: best band I've ever seen. And I've seen them all...Who, Stones, The Band, Rundgren....all tremendous, of course. Bruce and the Mighty Es... Just tremendouser...
March 2021 in UK lockdown and I can't stop watching this. The ultimate antidote for the Covid blues. Love the smile on Bruce's face, comes from knowing you got the best band in the world behind you I guess.
Amazed how critics of this adlib performance say it’s pre arranged, and use some musical term here and there, to show that they know music. If you knew music you’d be on stage!
What did you have for breakfast, guys? Your rendition of this song is not just funny, optimistic and an epitomy of strength, but in brief: it's an absolute masterpiece!!! BRAVO!!! ❤👍
@@mischak65 It's a song they all know from their childhoods. The changes are simple. They've probably all played it before. It may have been planned, but just made to look impromptu. Any experienced soloist could jam on this one. Maybe not at the skill level of some of these guys, but there are many fine soloists around. But Bruce did his job. He wowed them. Chuck Berry's songs grow better with the years. Memphis, Johnny B. Goode, You Never Can Tell, Maybelline, etc.....They are all so catchy, and have great rhythm, melody, and outstanidng lyrics...they are just timeless. There are five things a rock and roll performer can do to entertain onstage.....sing well, dance or move well, play his instrument well, write catchy songs, and write great lyrics. Only Chuck did all five at the highest levels.

Seeing Bruce and Jake play together is so beautiful, it’s almost like the big man is still here in some ways, it makes me smile and cry at the same time.
was never a big Bruce fan but after watching this I now know why they call him THE BOSS........man that was a simple song played like a masterpiece, he is truly THE BOSS.
+wreek havo I never knew squat about Springsteen until I watched a few videos of him live. Now I own his records from Born to Run through The River. His studio albums don't suck, they are quite good. Springsteen separates himself from everybody through his live performances. He's been giving everything he has for fifty years.
This performance is a smile-maker. I've heard my share of trombone solos, most of which, I wish I hadn't, but the one here kicks them all to the curb. Not to mention the sax and the excellent twinkling of the tips of the fingers on the keys. Prince was right in his opinion of Bruce as a terrific band leader. This is one of the few recorded live performance that I keep going back to listen to.
Love the brass section ( having learned on Trombone) and the piano solo is amazing. Of corse eveyrone loves a sax solo. Bruce , sometimes you just do some things joyous. This was one such time.
All the floggers here shouting "This was pre-arranged" or "It's all an act" haven't got a clue. Springsteen pulls sign requests out of the audience routinely and plays them. The band copes with it because they're stellar musicians who have been doing it for 40+ years. Just because you're not good enough to do it doesn't mean it can't be done.
+libertyordeaf Couldn't agree more. I've seen him do this, and he tries to pick songs they HAVEN'T done or rehearsed. It's a challenge for the talented band ... But they are so tight they can do it. In Cardiff he played (almost reluctantly) an obscure outtake called TV Movie, which never made it to an album (other than a compilation). They had NEVER played it live at all... So none of the backing singers or horn section had even heard it (unlike You Never Can Tell which is a classic Chuck Berry number)let alone played it. He laughed at the end and said 'you heard it first, you heard it last!' It is still the only time they've played it. www.setlist.fm/stats/songs/bruce-springsteen-2bd6dcce.html?song=TV+Movie
Actually I´m surprised they took so long... It´s a Rock n´Roll man, it´s 3 chords. First Bruce takes too long to pick a key suited for his voice, and then the brass took like forever to find that key... the only one who nailed it on spot was the piano man, he didn´t even rehersed a note. I wonder if Bruce was making time so the guys on backstage could find the lyrics, as he´s clearly (and understandably) reading the lyrics from a screen below.
+Donde está Carter!! he is just entertaining the crowd and playing with it, pretty obvious. i don't think musicians with 40 years of experience needs your advice :)
Meanwhile, in Bilbao, another completely unrehearsed song with unrehearsed patter... ruclips.net/video/1518W6iArxU/видео.html And in Mansfield... ruclips.net/video/Gaa_S7-ob1k/видео.html
When I was in college in 1972, I saw him, like 25 times in small places, like the Gym at Fairleigh Dickensian. He played often and everywhere, then "Born to Run" came out and he started selling out arenas and you couldn't beg, buy or steal a ticket.
Your proof ? Bruce has a prompter for covers and some of his old old catalog. When the adrenaline is flowing , it can be hard to hit all the words especially with as packed as he lyrics can be.
This is Bruce Springsteen. I think you'll find he and his band are better and cleaner than Chuck Berry. I know it's hard being old (I'm 67 so I'm old too) but life moves on and, thank god, life gets better.
This is absolutely fabulous and wonderful. Doubt that it was a completely improvised. Bruce is a world class showman and demands perfection for his fans. He is one the best live performer in history!
Its amazing, but nothing so hard that i would doubt it wasn't improvised. It's like 3 damn chords for guitar. I've seen far more technically impressive improvisations (this one might still be my favorite though)
It’s literally G and D the whole time with one C at the end. They’re good enough rock n rollers to play boogie bass lines and blues riffs underneath. If they played in 2009, they probably have some memory but I’m sure it wasn’t practiced.
Amazing musicians. To be able to perform a number unrehersed just like that "wow". and the improvisation from the horn section ????. REAL MUSICIANS !!!
Wow ! Great band with all those musical instruments and Bruce Springsteen smiling as he has absolutely pulled this song , " You Never Can Tell", superbly. ❤️🎶🎉👍👍👍👏👏👏
He is so respectful of his peers and so unwittingly humble about his important place in the lineage of Rock and Roll that it defies logic that anyone would doubt his professionalism and passion. ... and it makes me wonder 🎙️
He has never changed since his beginnings and his love of performing and his E Street Band is the foundation of his life and music.. Everything else takes care of itself. Not once has he ever been linked to anything negative.
Because he knows some these guys since his early twenties. Miami Steve he knows since 1970, Gary Tallent probably since 1969, Max and Roy since 1974. He knew them way before he was famous, they are his link to his past, to remember where he came from. Just a Jersey Boy that loves to play music with his friends, wether it is at the Stone Pony for 150 people or Leipzig for 50.000 people. Makes no difference to him.
Been playing in bands all my life, and love improv. I play keys and can say that this song is one of the easiest three-chord ones any band can play. No practice needed if you know simple progressions and music theory. Beautifully done. This was classic improv at its best.
Enquanto no brasil "cantor" que diz que os músicos não podem aparecer mais que ele, pelo mundo a fora temos Bruce Springsteen que simplesmente bota TODOS os seus músicos em evidência! O cara não precisa provar nada pra ninguém! Simples assim!
Stumbled across this concert and was blown away the way he started this impro.... the way Van Zant and Bruce are communicating to pull it off and get the act together to this great performance is amazing to watch.... Must be the best version out there....
I must have seen him live at least 50 times, no joke! The best is going to a small club at the Jersey shore to see a lesser known band and Bruce shows up & rocks the house! Always a great time. He's still showing up at shows unexpectedly. He still loves jamming.
I have literally lost count of how many times I've seen The Boss in concert and he never, ever disappoints. What I think I love most about this performance is that it's pure "rock and roll" -- it's a glorious mess, the band is all having a great time but none of them really have any idea what's coming or what they're even doing and Bruce is absolutely LOVING every second of it!

I don't think I've ever seen ANYONE looking happier on a stage than Bruce does in this video!
And I've seen a LOT of stage performers. THIS guy... never even loses his smile!!! NO stress whatsoever.
He ADORES that audience!!
Damn... I wanna be like that. I wanna be Bruce Springsteen!!

Looking at how happy everyone is, makes me feel better amidst the horror of 2020. Everyone in the audience is getting to experience something really special, and the band if having fun. Love this
Moi, je n'ai jamais assisté a ses spectacles et c'est a mon rand regret. Mais en cas de blues je gave le cerveau.

A true band of people at the absolute top of their game. Real instruments. Real Music. What an absolute privilege to see them each step up and let their own personality shine through. The bass guy didn't get air time, but he did a superb job.
Perfection! When the fun and professionalism get together! 10 years and I continue to watch again❤
This is the only video related to music that has actually made me cry of how beautiful music is. This performance is just magical and makes me realize how God made us humans with such talents to honor him and Music is a way to do it.

What a performance! It doesn't get any better! Bruce, you are a legend!
To those saying it was rehearsed and pre-arranged, my dears, this is a two chord song. A school band can improvise on it and perform it like this. You don't even have to be a musician to tell that this was far from flawless and perfect, but it's so positive and lovely, that it's absolutely amazing.
Chords and scales can go a long way 💪🎸
@@Hotsport_RugbySimulations he couldn't have embarrassed himself. The wet patch was on his back under the guitar strap. Not on his crotch.
It was a well rehearsed number. It was done 3 years earlier.Even used the same piece of paper with the request from the audience .
It might be two chords, but the improvisation by his musicians is just excellent. Bruce had a blast with it.
Well said TN-T3
You are right.

BRAVO!!!
❤👍
If this is an impromptu jam, then holy shit every musician on that stage is just outstandingly talented.
This is the E-street band, to play in there you already have to be outstandingly talented ;) Hans down one of the ebst bands in existence.
Only if you're talking about the horn section. The band itself had played it in concert before.
Of course they all are. But the song is one of the simplest possible.
It ain't amateur hour on that stage.
Uma aula de música em poucos minutos, tudo alinhado, que banda meus amigos, o Bruce sabe o real significado de "fazer música"

+wreek havo I never knew squat about Springsteen until I watched a few videos of him live. Now I own his records from Born to Run through The River. His studio albums don't suck, they are quite good. Springsteen separates himself from everybody through his live performances. He's been giving everything he has for fifty years.
This Man is Infectious!
I'll live with his sweet poison
Never my favorite, either. But I think I've worn my phone out watching it🙄
This performance is a smile-maker.
Those bits made me go UUUUUUUUUUUUAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAUUUU! Great master musicians right there.

Love the brass section ( having learned on Trombone) and the piano solo is amazing. Of corse eveyrone loves a sax solo.
Bruce , sometimes you just do some things joyous. This was one such time.
brass section? at least Barry Danielian on the trumpet played a whole shit....
This is the reason why his are best concerts in the world. They reason why he is and always will be THE BOSS!

+Danny Jones I was there for the TV Movie in Cardiff and I hadn't even heard it before! Call myself a Springsteen fan *shakes head*
Lol... Hoping for a similar surprise at Wembley next week
Thank you Bruce you the Man loved you for a very long time when I was still a young bloke in New Zealand and now 58 today on my Birthday in Ausralia
I smiled so hard watching this awesome performance and dreamed I could be on stage with them. Absolutely amazing!!!!

They knew exactly what they were doing. Bruce is the consummate pro and strict band leader.
There are live acts and then there are LIVE ACTS. No one beats Bruce live. No one.
When I was in college in 1972, I saw him, like 25 times in small places, like the Gym at Fairleigh Dickensian. He played often and everywhere, then "Born to Run" came out and he started selling out arenas and you couldn't beg, buy or steal a ticket.
Caramba, isso é muito bom. Melhorou muito minha segunda-feira!!!
that's the gig worth going to - no fake crap, no playback, no bs - just honest to god music played by pros:)
Every musician on stage using a TelePrompter with words and notes isn't "fake?"
Your proof ? Bruce has a prompter for covers and some of his old old catalog. When the adrenaline is flowing , it can be hard to hit all the words especially with as packed as he lyrics can be.
The genius of Chuck Berry - what he could do with just two chords and lyrics that told a story was remarkable. No one has done it better.
Ever.
This is Bruce Springsteen. I think you'll find he and his band are better and cleaner than Chuck Berry. I know it's hard being old (I'm 67 so I'm old too) but life moves on and, thank god, life gets better.

This IS what WE Can call music ......
I've seen far more technically impressive improvisations (this one might still be my favorite though)
i had not seen this video until now i confess that i enjoyed it to the fullest , it is spectacular i love bruce
The band did play it once on the 2009 tour, but that was without the horns.
It’s literally G and D the whole time with one C at the end. They’re good enough rock n rollers to play boogie bass lines and blues riffs underneath. If they played in 2009, they probably have some memory but I’m sure it wasn’t practiced.
It's a 3 chord blues/rock and roll progression. Most musicians will know how to play over this. A professional band would have no problem improvising
Music: the one thing that bring all humans together, no matter where they from, no matter religons, no matter color of the skin. Just good music.
Exactly it is like you wrote Gregory !!!
TOP!....
Amazing musicians. To be able to perform a number unrehersed just like that "wow". and the improvisation from the horn section ????. REAL MUSICIANS !!!

It’s never going to be over. Ashamed you never saw him. I hope it happens but it’s now highly unlikely life will go back to normal as we remember

Wonderful to see musicians having so much fun and being able to improvise in this way for the sake of entertaining the audience and having fun!
The love and respect is evident between Bruce and Steve.
They are the best!
Having fun and know how to play and know each other 🥰
I love how he interacts with his band! no ego on him!!
Makes no difference to him.
if you don't love this, you don't love rock n roll
Been playing in bands all my life, and love improv. I play keys and can say that this song is one of the easiest three-chord ones any band can play. No practice needed if you know simple progressions and music theory. Beautifully done. This was classic improv at its
best.
dont think the trumpet player did
Enquanto no brasil "cantor" que diz que os músicos não podem aparecer mais que ele, pelo mundo a fora temos Bruce Springsteen que simplesmente bota TODOS os seus músicos em evidência! O cara não precisa provar nada pra ninguém! Simples assim!
