    So helpful. I have been painting with acrylics since the 80's and had learned through trial and error but the only thing I ever learned formally was in high school and a tole painting class in the 90's. I was doing a lot of dry brushing. I completely understood the eye, just not how to use the paint. I finally stopped painting. I'm ready to try again but thought I would watch some video first to avoid frustration. Thank you. Fabulous work, you are great at giving instruction.

    Insane skill levels. I like the fact you get the great results you do, holding the brush like a pencil. I remember getting scolded by my art teacher for the 'improper way' of using a brush.🙄

      LOL yeah I had that issue with how I hold my pencil in school too. If my results are fine, who cares how I hold it? I will say though that when I paint larger areas I hold the brush waaaay towards the back because it gives me more control of larger brush strokes.

    Can white charcoal pencils be easily erased on black paper/canvases? If not, are there any alternative recommendations? I plan on purchasing a black sketchbook and I want to see my sketches clearly and erase mistakes without leaving white streaks. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

    Are patterns available on patron ? Would a pattern for this be on patron?

    • @Lachri
      @Lachri  Год назад +2

      I either provide the reference photo or in the case of this project, a link to where I purchased the photo if they wanted to paint the same one. I do not provide line drawings for two reasons. One, it would create more inaccurate results. A line drawing will never be as accurate as tracing the photo directly, so it's not helpful.
      The second is that while I encourage artists to trace subjects to learn to draw better, tracing something someone else traced, in my 20 years of teaching experience, does not help one to learn to draw better. If you're going to trace and are looking to improve I strongly recommend tracing the actual photo you're working from. That is what will help you to notice details in your photo you may have not otherwise noticed. A tracing someone else's tracing is not achieving that same goal and slows down your progress.
