Congrats on the first tutorial! I like the 11:00 mark that actually talks about fixing an error/forgotten part - I think a lot of people learning to do art don't get it right the first time and feel really disheartened. Nice to remind people that even the pros need to do touch-ups sometimes!
I am so glad to hear that! :) I just uploaded a brand new, updated eye tutorial this week as well that provides some more tips and tricks that I've learned since uploading this video. Hopefully you'll find them both helpful. Cheers, and thank-you for watching! ♥
@cassydraws yes I seen it. When you first started to learn to paint was it better to start learning how to do specific areas (like the eyes) before you started to do the whole head? I have problems learning the blocking in without over painting
Thank-you! I'm glad! I can definitely understand getting impatient with painting. I tend to rush the ending of my paintings when I see the finish line in sight. I often recommend doing the eyes first, as it sets the tone of the painting and to make sure I get the likeness. Maybe that'll force you to take your time, and when your brain is most fresh? I hope this helps! I appreciate the support! :)
Hi Cassy! Wow! Really well done. I love this eye tutorial. I've seen a lot of eye painting tutorials on RUclips and yours is my FAVORITE! Thank you and I look forward to watching many more of your tutorials. ❤🎨
Hi there! Thank-you so much for taking the time to comment and leave such lovely feedback. I really appreciate it! ❤️ That is a huge compliment. Thankyou, and welcome to our family here! 🥰
Great job Cassy! Well thought out talking about your process and even remembering the colors you used in your voice over! I hope you had fun and look forward to your next one
Thank you so much for the amazing Tutorial! Love the details in your pieces and that eye is absolutely incredible! Cant wait to watch more videos in the future! :D
Animal eyes vary in a lot of different ways but for me personally I find they vary the most in terms of shape, size, and colour when it comes to painting. I recommend studying different types of eyes and practicing on smaller pieces of canvas to get used to them! :) I like to practice drawing the shapes, and mixing the colours within the eye before I create a bigger, more polished painting. I hope this helps.
Thank-you so much for your kind words and feedback. 💛 It means a lot. I definitely can do a detailed tutorial on painting fur. Thank-you for the recommendation! ☺️
Omg, you're seriously amazing!! I think the reason my art never turns out how i want it, is because i don't do layers and I am not patient enough to do a little at a time... I enjoy your advice. I'll have to start doing it little by little. By the way, can you please do a horse in one of your videos too?
Thankyou so much for your kind words and feedback! ❤️ It has taken me a really long time to work on my patience and to not rush through a piece. I still struggle with wanting to hurry up and finish towards the end. LOL! So it happens to everyone I think. Of course I will write that down in my to-do list. 🥰
@@cassydraws haha. I totally understand that! I've been drawing and painting since I was younger but I haven't had the itch to sit and take the time to make another piece yet..once i do, I'm definitely going to try out your advice. I've been wanting to do better just haven't had any inspiration.
The eye turned out amazing and there was a lot of helpful advice. Thanks for the tutorial Cassy. As for future cover suggestions, may I suggest Rap God?
I am so happy to hear that. Thank-you for your kindness, and feedback! Most times yes, I will make sure that each layer has dried completely. Very rarely do I use a wet on wet technique to blend on the canvas - but it can be done! I hope this helps! :)
I started with cadmium yellow, and titanium white with the slightest touch of blue. I continue to add blue and make this colour more green as I layer on top. I hope this helps! :)
Don't apologize! I am happy to help. The yellow colour I am using is Cadmium Yellow Medium Hue, from Grumbacher Academy Acrylics. I believe I may have mixed some Titanium White in there as well, to create a softer yellow. You can use whichever yellow you prefer! There are no rules in art! :)
I paint with with wax... I am having trouble with eyes on my animals as my paintings are small (8x8) can you offer any suggestions to make them more realistic?
Although I have no experience with painting in wax, painting small definitely can be a challenge - and I've had my fair share of smaller paintings over the years. I found what worked for me was to cut back on a lot of the details, and only pick the most important ones to the overall feeling of the painting. I found that when your details become too heavy, it can become overwhelming on a small canvas. In addition to this, I used a lot of glazing to help with shadows, and other colour applications to my acrylic. (Not sure if that is possible with wax, but I found it helpful with acrylic!) Using a 000 brush was also a very helpful size brush to use, to allow for smaller details like catch lights in the eyes, etc. :) I hope this helps! ♥
Your Paintings are Awesome! Thank you very much for sharing them. At the end of this Realistic Animal Eye Tutorial you show an Eagle, is this Eagle tutorial available for us to enjoy painting? Again Thanks Allot my Friend!
Thank-you so much for the kind words! Unfortunately that painting is on the older side, and was before my video-making days! However, I do have an eagle on my list of upcoming tutorials, coming soon. :) Hope this helps!
Unfortunately I never completed the painting and only used this as a demo for the eyeball. However, it was a leopard. So I might have to paint a new one!
This is an older video - back then I was inexperienced. 😂 So I’m not entirely sure I listed them. But my palette consists of: Mars black, titanium white, cadmium yellow, thalo blue, burnt sienna, burnt umber, and mixing white. Hope this helps. ❤️
Details of moses like dogs, bears. There’s the nose and then that part above the nose that isn’t fur but isn’t nose but kinda both. And under the nose . Thanks
I can’t wait to dive into this further, maybe in another video! I think that is just as important as the eye itself. Glad you thought it was a good thing to do! 💛
Thank-you so much! :) For this particular eye I used various shades of green, yellow and brown. I normally use Thalo Blue, Cadmium Yellow Med. Hue, and Burnt Sienna/Burnt Umber to create these colours. I hope this helps!
Thank-you Patty for your feedback! I apologize for not having them listed. This is an older video, and I've been trying to be good at including them in my current/future vids! :) Thanks so much!

Beautiful and so helpful. Do you make sure each layer is dry before putting new paint on or no?

Good thing you’re working on a large eye 😂. Looks good.
Thank-you! :)
Hi what colour do you start with on the eye? You mention black, brown and white for around the eye. Thanks

@@cassydraws Many thanks 😊

Great job, sorry, my bad, Lol I didn't look further to see you already did eyes. lol and I think your amazing!!!
Sorry, I'm very very new. What is the yellow color on the first layer on the eye? Does it matter which yellow one uses?
Don't apologize! I am happy to help. The yellow colour I am using is Cadmium Yellow Medium Hue, from Grumbacher Academy Acrylics. I believe I may have mixed some Titanium White in there as well, to create a softer yellow. You can use whichever yellow you prefer! There are no rules in art! :)
Great video cassy! Do you use a lot of Walter with your acrylics? Looks very smooth unikke heavy body paint
Thank-you so much! I do use a fair amount of water, my brush is normally pretty full. I like a smoother feel, and less textured. 😚 Hope this helps!
