    “Darks dark enough, lights light enough” has become my mantra. I had an art teacher who used to tell us “don’t be afraid of the dark” and it’s so true. I’ve learned so much watching you. Thank you for sharing your knowledge, talent and time.

    Love your attention to detail! I worked for Michael's for several years as a Grumbacher painting instructor doing 2 hr. classes with Academy Acrylics. We had to complete the painting in 2 hrs. so I adopted the Bob Ross approached to getting the painting done in the time allowed. Most people were just interested in painting the subject and not the hows & whys of being a good painter. Consequently I got into the habit of painting quite fast and not worrying about the details. My art work suffered and I now am finally diving in deeper to improve my skills instead of just racing through to get it done. Thank you for your great videos that have increased my awareness of where I need to improve. 🥰

    Thank you so much Lisa for everything you have taught me! A lot of what you've said has become these little quotes I say to myself if I'm ever discouraged with my artwork.....'watch your values....layer until it looks right.....keep looking at your reference photo.' These are little mantra's that I repeat to myself in my studio...and it really helps me to remember the knowledge and wisdom you have shared with me and so many others. Thank you Lisa!! ❤😊

    What rich colors, I really like. In art, I myself prefer to use pastels or pencils, but looking at other people's bright works is a sheer pleasure.

    What you said about the values and colors harmonizing vs matching exact colors is spot on. My work has been coming together more accurately, and the process had been more enjoyable! Thinking of trying those brushes you recommended for fur, and glad Glitch is feeling better she's very pretty💕.

    Awesome tips. I've once seen someone ask you about your speaking speed. I talk fast as well so I always tell people, "I don't talk fast you just listen slow." I appreciate your dedication to sharing your craft.

    I do agree with the brush choice. I mostly use the round tip and the cat tongue type brushes. Next texture would be feathers and scales of reptile or fish. Not sure what a rake brush looks like though and I might not have it.

    I have given up on alocasia because I just keep killing them. Same with the monstera adansonii I had. I might give that one another shot though!

    • @Lachri
      @Lachri  2 года назад +1

      If it helps, the alocacia do sometimes die back but come back months later. I had one that I left in my shower for the winter. I was sure I was watering a pot of dirt for a few months, but this summer he's back and full! They're super prone to spider mites, but I've found even then, if they die back from them, they almost always come back.
      The adansonii can come back too if you didn't kill the roots. I had one that I overpotted so it started getting root rot. I left the roots and a bit of the stem in the pot and added a few other philodendrons to better fill the space. It took a few months but the adansonii is back, as strong as ever!
