This video has taken out the mystery of painting fur. As a new painter it was a godsend. Thank you so much.
So glad it has helped you! And I hope you find my other videos just as helpful!
I never imagined that painting white fur started out with such a dark background! It looks amazing!
Excellent tutorial as usual from Daniel Wilson. The color principles outlined here are not only applicable to the painting of white fur, but they can also successfully be applied to the painting of: snowy landscapes; white clouds; white sandy beaches; white clothes and pretty much anything white. I am little surprised that the buff titanium that was on the artist's palette was not used (Titanium White Buff - PW6:1) Buff titanium is an incredibly useful color in that it helps to stear one away from the temptation to use pure white.
Due to a 60 hour work week, I have been a "weekend" painter for 20 years. Wildlife is really my passion. I find your videos sooooo refreshingly HELPFUL and I intend on using your techniques in my own paintings whenever I get to them, lol! Thank you for your generous time and for sharing your gift.
You probably dont give a shit but does anyone know of a tool to log back into an Instagram account..?
I was stupid lost my password. I would appreciate any tricks you can offer me!
I'm the same
I can see your lot of hard work is behind this video.. Leart new things and will apply..
Your videos are SO helpful!! And the initial images showing color swatches from color picker tool is top notch. Thank you!!

Thank you so much. I have been searching for many videos trying to find the one can fit my need. This videos is perfect for me. I haven't paint too many dogs or furs in my life time but with the help of this video I know it will be a success. Thank you again for such young and talented artist.
I needed this! Exactly what I was looking for. Almost looks like a photograph.
Awesome teaching. I’ve been doing it so wrong and I learned so much from you. Can’t wait to try your technique now. Thank you!
A super tutorial, offering great tips, all of which are easy to understand and follow. THANK YOU!!!
Thanks so much for doing this. I recently painted my first white tiger eyes and nose area. Trying to vary the white and get it lighter each time was a challenge. You have explained and demoed this so well that I can't wait to try it again. You and your videos are such a blessing. Thanks for your inspiration and guidance. 😻
Amazinggggggg. Thanks so much for taking a complicated subject and making it seem doable.
I have a Malrese, and this is the way she has her hair. Beautiful done!
Thank you for your detailed demos. I could watch these over and over again. When you are painting from a reference photo, as you did for this dog, it would be helpful to have the reference next to you work as you are painting, so we could all see it evolve.
I have subscribed to your channel and look forward to watching every video you have created!
Absolutely stunning! Thank you for your videos
I’m struggling with hair and this video really provides useful guidance. You are wonderfully down-to-earth and to-the-point. Thank you.
Glad it was helpful!
Absolutely amazing!
Thank you for sharing this. Great work 👍
Thank You for sharing. Embarking on painting my two doggies and this has been exceedingly helpful.
Very good lesson thank u 🙏 😀🎨🙌👏🙌👏
Superb tutorial, thank you so much! Btw, once you put down the tape, hit it with a thin layer of matte medium, let it dry then paint. This will give you 99.9% clean lines, but I use yellow frog tape with same method.
Wow... Thats real fur.. I always have difficulty with white dogs but I can see where I'm going wrong now... Thank you..
Great job
Beautiful !
Wow incredibly helpful video. Can't wait to practice it 🙌 Thankyou so much 😊

This is the best video on white fur I've seen on RUclips. Can you do the same with oil ? There is so much paint, Will it ever dry ? Thanks.
Thanks for teaching. I was doing it wrong for white Fur. Should I paint it over and redo it again. What media you using with acrylic paint?
Your videos have been very helpful in learning animal portraiture and I thank you for your generosity. Could you please provide the name of the app for capturing colors as you do in this video? I use a MacBook and iPhone.
Thank you! I used my IPad and the procreate app

Any plans to do full animal realtime videos on a platform like Patreon, or on downloadable videos?
Hola trabaja húmedo sobre húmedo o deja secar las capas?❤
Can you use this method when painting a white horse?👍x
How do you do glazing when using oil paints? Do you still follow the lean to fat rule? Does this tutorial work with oil paint?
Thank you for sharing your talents! This is a wonderful tutorial! What type of hair are the brushes? Synthetic, natural, bristle etc?
I’m pretty sure they are all synthetic
@@StudioWildlife Thank you.
Thanks a lot , Can you also put a video of fur with Acrylics ..
I have loads of acrylic fur and oil fur videos available on my channel 😀
Hola que tonos usas para pelaje? Soy de argentina si me puedes traducir colores❤
Thank you this was very helpful! Well done, I like your style a lot. I have one question if you don’t mind? The last skinny brush, I didn’t catch the name of it. Would you share it with me please. Thank you again that was just lovely
Thank you glad the video is helpful! The last one I believe is the dagger brush or sword liner, the one I use is from pro arte
Thank you sir I appreciate it! Bless you for providing such great information for a new artists
I'm trying to learn how to use acrylics, gotta be honest I struggle with blending due to the drying time, should the paint be watered down? Then it looks patchy. Should it be thick and wet the brush which can also drag and go patchy, I did a flower and man oh man it looks so frustratingly amateur. I usually use coloured pencils, graphite, or water colour to create and do pretty well with those but I'm trying to step out of my comfort zone but not winning!
I water them down and use lots of layers to build up solid colours. Otherwise it may be the paints that you are using don’t have much pigment in them which can make them look thin and patchy
I need a tutorial for the paint program
👍💯👏👏👏
Hi Daniel, I am struggling to get my hands on the “ sword liner or dyer brush” you are using to create the long fine and curly hair, whiskers etc. I am from South Africa. I will be in the U.K from July till September. Maybe you can help me by guiding me to a supplier. Awesome channel and phenomenal artist. Regards Niel
This isn't the exact model that I use but something like this would work well amzn.to/3MHbMMl
or something like these amzn.to/3Czay0Y
The exact model I use is the pro arte sword liner which you could order whilst you are in the UK amzn.to/3CxdI5e
can you paint white fur in water colour ?
I have problem on painting the fine line on fur
Can you tell me what the second to last brush you use is called ?
The long one for the details is a dagger brush, sometimes called a sword liner. The rest were just round brushes
I wish the video had the medium in the title or description :(
This technique will work for acrylics or oil paints 😁
what apps are you using?
just procreate on my Ipad, but photoshop works, or microsoft paint or even powerpoint for some basic editing of the photos
Excellent, it would of been nice if you included fleas in the fur.
Great video, I was wondering if it looks opaque in real life or does it have this transparent feel to it?
I can't really tell, it looks good on the screen though.
I paint only with oils.
It looks solid and opaque in real life when it’s finished 😁
