I have full length process videos on my patreon page which go through these techniques in even more detail and demonstarte how I use these techniques to actually paint wildlife. Check it out! www.patreon.com/StudioWildlife
This is so helpful! I love this demo and how your build up of layers followed by how to detail the hairs has resulted in this truly realistic fur. Also loved the tip on adding water to help with the fine line work and to not use pure white in the fur. Great learnings for me and where I am at in my learning journey. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge.
THANK YOU for getting right to it instead of 5 minutes of blather and then burying the info. I’m a subscriber now & truly appreciate your time saving but wildly helpful style!
I paint in digital these days, I have not used acrylic in years; this tutorial is super helpful, I've been struggling to render fur in a style I like, but I love what you have done here and I shall adapt it and see how it turns out. Thank you for taking the time to make this video.
I can't tell you how many videos I've watched trying to work out how to do this. When you talked about leaving the gaps something just clicked. Thank you very much!
Painting my first leopard and loving the process. Finding it very therapeutic. Your tips are so valuable. I have used your image transfer process which saved me weeks of sketching the image. Your fur guidance is great also. Enjoy your videos so much. Thank you.
Thank you! I’m working on a surprise memorial piece for a friend who lost her two dogs. One last year and one this year. Have been really struggling with the fur and this helped tremendously.
Thank you! My friend wanted me to make a painting of her dogs to her husband for Christmas, and I’ve been STRUGGLING. It all makes sense now. I could cry 😭
OMG! Just fabulous. I now will go back and re-detail my other paintings of my dog. I realize now I needed a better detailed brush to get the fur more realistic. Thanks you.
So glad I found your channel. After a 55 year sabbatical, I decided to go back to art in an acrylic medium, and honestly, your tutorial on this topic is excellent.
Wow... this is such a great video. The combination of explanation and visual side by side is wonderful. I love that you stick to just the information and so many tips... everything that I needed to know. Thank you. I will be looking at the rest of your videos.
I have looked at so many videos on painting fur and this video along with your video on How to paint realistic black fur.. Painting a bear in acrylics is my go to. I love watching you and Amber paint. Her dog is Awesome. I am self taught and have learned so much from you both. Thank You!!!!
Your video is very clear as you describe how/what you are doing. I like to do wood projects and right now I'm doing a donkey and I watched about 10 videos on how to paint fur and yours is the best! Very good. Small suggestion... your lighting puts the project in shadow when you're painting. Keep up the good work. My goodness your finished product looks so cool. Thank you
Thank you! yeah this was my old set up when I was filming out of my bedroom, I made a purpose built studio space earlier this year which has much better lighting 😁
@@StudioWildlife this was my first look at a video of yours. I'm interested. I do wood carvings of different things. Right now I'm doing a few Dogs. I hope I can get good at your technique I think it will make my carvings really stand out. Thank you.
I am disappointed that most of the artists do not mention what colors they are using....as a beginner, I have no idea what colors to use when painting fur, etc....Studio Wildlife does tell what brushes he is using, but that's it! Would like to find an artist other than Ross who gives color palette, then, I will subscribe!
He says at the start he's using a glossy black and titanium white, though he's demonstrating the technique so you can use whatever colors you want. 🤗 There are plenty of artists I watch that mention the colors and brands they are using, but tbh it's not important to use the exact brands and colors when just practicing techniques imo.
