Your tutorials on painting fur has been the only ones to actually help me understand color and layering.
This is so helpful! I love this demo and how your build up of layers followed by how to detail the hairs has resulted in this truly realistic fur. Also loved the tip on adding water to help with the fine line work and to not use pure white in the fur. Great learnings for me and where I am at in my learning journey. I am disappointed that most of the artists do not mention what colors they are using....as a beginner, I have no idea what colors to use when painting fur, etc....Studio Wildlife does tell what brushes he is using, but that's it! Would like to find an artist other than Ross who gives color palette, then, I will subscribe!
He says at the start he's using a glossy black and titanium white, though he's demonstrating the technique so you can use whatever colors you want. 🤗 There are plenty of artists I watch that mention the colors and brands they are using, but tbh it's not important to use the exact brands and colors when just practicing techniques imo.

You can also look at Ian Harris Acrylic Guru .. he always gives you the colors

I paint in digital these days, I have not used acrylic in years; this tutorial is super helpful, I've been struggling to render fur in a style I like, but I love what you have done here and I shall adapt it and see how it turns out.

Thank you for this helpful video. I have had a career in detailed etching and jewelry but and am now retired. I have only tried painting recently. I am a wildlife photographer so my painting interest is primarily in wildlife. I have only done two small paintings and it seemed to go well. I’ll be following you.

Thank you! yeah this was my old set up when I was filming out of my bedroom, I made a purpose built studio space earlier this year which has much better lighting 😁

Just happened upon your video. You make this look so easy! We are making Dog planters and it would be helpful for me to learn to paint fur to highlight certain fur on the face. Like if they have gray or other colors in small areas. I would be painting on wood. Just starting to give it a try. Your video is very helpful!
