I have recently learned the fine mist water technique when painting northern lights, but I’m happy you’ve helped me to appreciate that it can be used in so many other acrylic applications. I started painting in my 60’s and turned 70 yesterday. Videos like yours are giving me more and more confidence to press forward. I’m enjoying it so much more now that I’m seeing some advancements with each painting. Never too old to learn more and more!!!

Overblending is easy to do with this technique. You only need a couple of swipes with that mop brush (or blush/powder brush in my case) to get good results. If you're doing more than 5 swipes with the brush it's probably too much!

I use pure lavender for layer one. Walnut oil for other layers.. Turpenoid natural for brush cleaning and a tiny bit for paint thinner.
Non- poisonous . Might need slight ventilation . The lavender very strong odor but NOT. Toxic to breathe or on skin.

    • @TTundragrizzly
      @TTundragrizzly 4 месяца назад

@@danielleo6855 mostly to those that have allergies.
Some acrylic paints have heavy metals so getting on skin can be hazardous.
But some acrylic brands have removed all heavy metals from their products.
With a little research, someone using acrylics over oil is far less likely to be toxic enough to cause any damage.
But if you think about it… almost anything in life now can cause some sort of harm…
All cleaning sprays, some deodorants, etc.
The point is, it’s nearly impossible to completely avoid it…
So artists might as well enjoy acrylics indoors and not stress about it…

I use an antique perfume atomizer using Only distilled water. Don't want minerals from drinking water or tap water messing up the tip. This works great as the water comes out like fog, no droplets at all. I use a 1 ounce misting bottle if I want a heavier spray or if it I need to wet my watercolor paint pans.
The mist bottle does not have an adjustable nozzle as I have forgotten to adjust other ones back to a mist and... oh sh...oot. lol

I got the fine mist sprayer to test to see if it could be an alternative to those without an airbrush and ended up using this more myself! My airbrush is always set up and ready to go at the easel, but this holds more water and has just been sooooo convenient. The airbrush is better at getting more consistent misting though. The difference isn't enough to give up the convenience of this sprayer for me. Either way I'm glad we have both options! :D

@@Lachri You probably get so many people talking about you, but I wanted you to know I mention you a lot in the videos I made recently on my channel. I didn’t see your spray bottle technique until I worked on the final part but I let everyone know where I learned it. Thank you again. It’s actually making a big difference in my paintings.

I would LOVE for you to try heritage multimedia paint, its acrylic that preforms exactly like oil (still a shorter dry time) uses food grade propylene glycol as an extender medium and is so pleasantly pigmented

Do you find that the Heritage paints are really that different than other professional grade acrylic paints? If so, how?

Great insight!! Thank you! I started painting about 3 years ago when I took a stray cat in and he had to stay in my garage until he was dewormed due to other pets. I spent 3hrs or so a day with him and was bored. I purchased acrylic paint and brush at the dollar store when they were a $1. Flat canvas too. But I first started painting in the back of pet food boxes with white back grounds. Sucked up a lot of paint.
Now I paint w nice acrylics from myartscape and I also tried oils that took 6 months to dry on its own. Now I can attempt to finish it. 😅
Great stuff with the gloss and the water mist!!
