Every time someone asks how my hair is so long and my first reply is always that I was blessed with good genetics. Followed by the actual routine 😅 but it plays a huge part.

My genetics are so very different! I am "a woman of a certain age," and my hair is past my scapula, but only when straightened out because it has curly down to a science. Plus it's brown and gray. So no matter what I do, I will never, ever have hair that looks like Molly's!!

Swimmer’s trick. For every cup of water add one tablespoon of baking soda. You’ll probably need four cups for your hair since it’s so long. Just prior to swimming (sea or pool) saturate your hair with the so😊da water. Do this on dry hair and don’t rinse it out before swimming. Your hair absorbs the water and the soda protects your hair from salt and chemicals.
It also makes your hair soft and shiny afterwards.

Just be careful with baking soda, as long term, frequent use can cause dryness and/or breakage.

    • @Kristyle187

Wow, I don’t believe I’ve ever heard this tip! I was SHOCKED when she said she likes to go swimming in pools during the summer! My hair reaches the top of my butt, and there’s just NO WAY I could get it that long without avoiding chlorine at ANY cost (also, my hair used to be blonde, so chlorine always turned it an ugly green color). Sadly, the longer my hair has become, the more impossible it is to fit it all under a swim cap to protect it.
So no swimming pools for me all these years… well, that is until I finally found out about saltwater pools and lived in a house with one for 4 years. They are SO MUCH better than regular pools in every way, including how easy they are to maintain!

I am not affilaited with Olaplex, but those particular products you showed are also my personal holy grails from the brand, though I also use the No3 for my prewash with every 3rd wash (or my hair gets heavy). My hair is almost 3 feet long, grows densely, and is fine in texture. I'm definitely going to be taking advantage of those codes since I refuse to stop using Olaplex anytime soon. So excited that you’re going to be doing longer content! When I was younger, like the precocious elementary and middle school kid, my hair was super long and my mom would always do it in the beautiful and fabulous hairstyles that I just loved, I always felt like a fairy princess especially adding those butterfly clips! Then in high school the choppy, and over straightening craze hit and I straightened and teased, straightened and teased until it was scene. Big mistake, huge. Now my hair is thinner and weak, I became chronically ill in college and that changed it a lot along with medications and I do miss my long thick hair. So I live vicariously through your videos, missing my hair! It’s so gorgeous, I know everyone says that, but ugh duh it’s stunning! So please share all you want, hair videos, the fun and whimsical, anything you want! I again am just so excited for you to be doing longer content! Also, thank you for being a real and relatable person, it’s really clear that you aren’t making up some personality to make videos and I really like that so cheers to all to come!

I don’t use a lot of products for my hair. I just wash it with a very good natural shampoo, without SLS and with a lot of plant extracts, condition it with a conditioner from the same company and then once a month or maybe more often, when necessary, when my ends get drier becouse my hair is dyed, I add a drop or two of castor oil in my conditioner, mix it and massage it in my lengths. Then I rinse very well and my hair is soft and shiny and moisturised :) my hair is very porous and looses moisture very quickly so the castor oil does wonders for it becouse it does a very good job at sealing the moisture in for a longer time.
These along with not eating sugar in my diet have made a big difference in the health of my hair 😊 actually since I stopped consuming sugar, my hair fall has reduced dramatically :)

This is fantastic! Welcome back! We need your wisdom! My wife is a consistent user of olaplex products but uses the whole system. I'm worried she is not diversifying with shampoo and conditioner as recommended by other advocates. I help her out with the pre-treatment starting with blue beautifly scalp serum (Sarah Nagel recommendation), then the olaplex 0 and 3. I also use the number 7 on her ends every morning before painstakingly detangling with a wide tooth wooden comb. There are very few hairs on the comb afterward, always more when using a brush (Tek) occasionally after combing. She washes once a week and blow dries always with heat protectant. Her ends have been much healthier since we started using the number 7 regularly, but her overall length still does not match her growth at the roots. No trims. I help with search and destroy method. We would treasure any tips you have on retaining length! 🙏

    • @JagaimoNoTensai
      @JagaimoNoTensai Год назад

      Good questions,
Night care has me interested, and also what kind of brush and why for different styles or care would be a game changer pls!
I have very long thin blonde hair and the day i found out about and started using a wide 'tooth spiked'(if you would) paddle brush that has dense bristles at the base and half way up the brush 'tooth spikes' was a major relief. Brushing is no longer painful, daily knots come out quick and you can choose the hair your pushing into the fine bristles with the force, get that wide looser brush over before going deeper and fine brushing the bulk.
Only draw back is bristles collect oils and air dust better so you need to up brush washing routine.

Have been a subscriber after finding your short vids and your fantastic braiding skills! My hair is now below my butt to the top of my thighs, and measures 42 inches (I'm 5'6"), and has a wave. It looks like I took it out of a braid if I let it dry completely naturally. THAT much wave. For the past several years, I've grown it to below my waist and donate it to make wigs for those who have lost their hair. Now that I am seeing more 3 1/2 foot long white hairs, I have a feeling my donation years are about over!
Do you keep your hair in a loose braid during sleeping? I used to turn upside down, bring my hair to the top and loosely twist it into a swirled bun and tuck it up at night, but now, I loosely braid it at night. During the day, I wear it in a fat braid down my back and when sitting, toss it over a shoulder. That loosely twisted bun would actually straighten out the waves a bit, and when I got married, I did that before my wedding day and wore a floral wreath with my hair cascading down my back (it was below my waist then).
Glad that you acknowledge that being able to grow long, thick hair is a genetic gift! So many people have asked me 'what do you do to get your hair to grow that long?' and I have answered 'I chose my parents wisely' or 'I eat properly!' Both help, but really, it is just genetics coupled with good care! Not using a lot of colorants or other chemicals is another 'trick' and letting it dry almost naturally with little heat helps, too.
Looking forward to more of your longer vids!

I have long hair aswell, my absolute favorite hair product to this day is Moroccan oil. I used to have dreadlocks nearly 15 years ago, and after brushing them out my hair was understandably very damaged, and Moroccan oil was the thing that saved it.
It’s fairly expensive and since I’m not exactly rich I use it very sparingly, I use about 3-5 drops in wet hair after every wash and massage it into my ends and lengths. I also use it on dry hair occasionally if I have a lot of static or if I have a lot of split ends.

Yes! For me it's when filling the dishwasher, have to put my hair up first. And driving because it is either stuck behind my back and hard to turn my head, or gets messed up with the seatbelt. It feels nice to hear from others who also have long hair.

You could be a romance book cover model. I had a thing about shaving my head whenever something wouldn't go my way in my life. I have stopped doing that for the past year. Your video today has encouraged me to get the oils and do some self care. I used to have hair to my hips when I was in my 30s, but now in my 50s I want my long hair back again. Thank you and God bless you. Keep making these videos and show how you put the oil in your hair. That would be very helpful. 😊

I need a whole break down of everything you do with your hair! I have basically the same color and thickness. Like the exact same only mines not as long and im struggling to find a good hair routine. Like what do you use to sleep in and what to ask for when you go to the salon because I haven't been in a while just because I've never liked how it comes out! Thank you so much for this!

I’ve been watching your videos for about a month now. And I appreciate all of your hair care products! Because as an elderly person lol my hair brakes now. And it’s very dry! And I’ve tried all of the products that you had mentioned, except for the mega sleek. That will be my next purchase! I’m typically Redken girl. Also I LOVE Bumble and Bumble!! ❤❤❤
Now for my disclaimer. I need you to tell people how Ola Plex actually does your hair if you don’t have a lot of damage. Can you using that number eight. You need to let them know that the entire line of Ola Plex is not meant for people with natural hair. It is meant for people who have bleach their hair and have a lot of damage. It has entirely too much protein, and it will cause breakage and damage rather than repair it. There is a lawsuit! In case you’re interested.

Gosh, I wish I loved that Matrix Mega Sleek conditioner. I had such high hopes, but it didn’t have enough slip for me, and it didn’t leave that super slimy soft feeling that I want. And I have not even an 1/8 of the hair you do. My hair is very low density.

I always wanted really long hair when I was younger, but it would break off and I could never get it past my mid back. I even used some of these products. My sister told me to try Pantene and my hair started getting really long for the first time in my 40s. I think its because of the panthenol/vitamin B. Its a cheaper alternative. Lately Ive been using Giovonni products because they are natural and also have vitamin B. My hair got shinier with those products and is the longest its been in my life. She is right about genetics though. I have thin, curly hair that will never look like this. My braids are sad and pathetic. Luckily the curls fluff it out a bit. I am loving these videos! I cant imagine how much work must go into them. They are so creative, beautiful and unique!

My hair used to be thick as yours but it has thinned out to just 1/4 of what it was in the past years. Seeing your hair motivates me to finally tackle my hair loss and regrow some :D
Maybe you could even make a video on how to tackle hair loss if you have ideas?
Could you also talk about how you protect your hair during the night without damaging it? Especially if you cuddle up with your partner as well :D

I'm glad you're doing longer videos. I would like to see videos on how to do your styles. I would start with the simpler styles that won't take you hours to do and make it easier for us to learn. I would also like to have videos on your hair care routines. And finally, how to style your hair like it is in the video. When I have my hair down, I can't stand it in my face all the time. Any hints to deal with that would be great.

    BROOO. Hahaha, you're me!! 🤣
I love this video!! I'm super interested in your entire hair routine--how often do you wash? Morning or night? Do you put your hair up after you wash it in the shower? Air dry or blow dry? How do you style it when you're sleeping? Do you sleep on a silk pillowcase? How often do you do your leave-in treatments? How often do you get a trim?
I'm very curious, lol! Your hair is so incredibly gorgeous and healthy-looking. Mine is a little over 2 feet, but it's been stuck that length for a decade (I'm 33). I know part of the problem is that I need to get regular trims and I've never been that kind of person, but I'm also super curious to find out if I can help it grow by doing other things as well.

My hair is only waste length but i recommend coconut oil for swimming. Melt it in a bowl sitting in boiling water to make application easier. From what I recall, the molecular structure of coconut oil allows it to penetrate the hair shaft and it then repels the water. I follow up with jojoba for extra protection but you could use pretty much any oil that does the standard coating of the shaft. Can't speak to science regarding chlorine but it definitely helps my hair when swimming regularly.

I'm interested in things you do throughout the day to make sure your hair doesn't get in the way in daily life when it isn't in a braid.
I'm really tall and 3 ft of hair is tailbone length on me. I ended up cuting off a few inches simply because I kept sitting on it and getting it stuck in things (I also have fine hair so maybe it is more inclined to get stuck in things).
The little things you do may be helpful to someone like me and amusing to people without super long hair.

I feel you, i dont want to say im sorry because this is what we want but boy is it unsuspectingly painful 🥲
      Me too pls🖐
protective habits for certain situations would be great to see talked about more. It truley gets difficult to manage when longer than your arm span, strands caught in so many unsuspecting places.
Personally love a comfy top bun so very liberating.

Would love to see how you do different hairstyles! I'm also 5'3 and my hair is 3 ft long. As you can imagine, there's not a lot of people on RUclips with ways to style such LONG hair in a way that looks normal. All i know is two types of braids and I just can't believe how many options of hairstyles I have when I watch your videos! I never knew my hair could look so good!!! 😅
