Traxxas has released the all new Maxx Slash, a 1/8 1/7 scale short course truck based on the Maxx platform. Did they fix what was wrong with the Maxx? What do I think about this new short course truck? Let's find out!

I got a red one on order which is due late June here in Australia. Like always, at first glance it looks like a nice rig, but as you dig into it a bit more, you soon realise the typical Traxxas DNA is all over the place. Cutting corners in weird places, proprietary battery trays, servos, etc., and plastic freaking everywhere. As the hype dies down on this release, I wonder if I'll even get it by the time it arrives. If you say the tyres are no good, then that's another expense the end user has to fork out for, and then you have to either modify the battery tray or go buy specific sized batteries to fit in it. The costs just keep going up and you haven't even turned it on yet. The more I look at it, the more I think I'd rather put my money elsewhere...
Good vid as always, but I'm looking forward to the running video to see how this thing handles. It looked ok in the Traxxas vid, but they were mostly at a skate park, so maybe that's a clue that it's not meant for dirt. 🤔

I think this pretty much sums it up. Also, 8mm stub axles on a heavy 6s vehicle is a joke. The tires dont look good. Forget which youtuber, but even on 6s he couldn't bring nose up to keep from lawn darting.
I LOVE that you don't ride Traxxas' d$%k. Too many RUclipsrs are afraid to have their own opinion.
Yeah it’s just so they can sell you an driveshaft upgrade kit on a 6s truck

As always overpriced for what it is. Lots of Recycled maxx parts on 6s
It looks just ok in my opinion, in the running video i saw i wasn't too impressed. It looked slow and handled like a maxx. I believe as people are having to be more judicious with their purchases, this is overpriced for what it is. I would have considered it in the 550-600 range but 700 absolutely not.

@@RcSpeedFreak-kk8wj Same in the UK, getting towards $1000 US. Don't think so, I'll settle on a Mojave 4s & throw in a 150a esc. Run either 4s or 6s if I feel the need, best of both worlds. I'll then also buy a 1/10 scale car with the money I would of saved over buying the Max Slash.
And you won’t even be settling you arguably have a better RC , Arrmas a racing bloodline traxxss is own creation

It looks like it could (and from other videos, does) take a beating. The price is….on the high end for what it is. From the running videos I’ve watched, it doesn’t appear to drive like a desert truck (like the Mojaves) or even like an SCT like its little brother. More like a run of the mill truggy driving experience with a SCT body slapped on it.
just got mine ordered in rock-n-roll, now I just have to visit the hobby shop to see it sitting on the shelf for now lol, super excited for it

That price is absurd...
Really just 100$ overpriced, thing is they set the bar with prices. They know all us rc guys and newbies would buy this in comparison to the Mojave at 599 and still know they will make more losing that buis. It is a staple and nice RC .
Than the annoying stuff , penny pinching , the 17mm star thing and wheel nut , I’ve ruined expensive truggy wheels because it’s not a hex , maybe I’ll try the revo axles like razor just said .
I think it's steep too. Maybe if it used a standardized servo, wheel hexes and TRX upped their electronics to the 21st century it would be worth the $700?
Ive never had a SC truck. I didn't get into the hype of the regular slash. I will get this one because I like the maxx platform. Although I hate the name maxx slash. almost seems like marketing couldn't come up with anything else so lets combine two trucks for the name. excited to try it out.
You prefer a name like TRX-8SCT?
Yeah I'm surprised they didn't call this something else, combining two names is a first for Traxxas. Slash XL or Maxx SC or something else.

Wow, an SCT on Razor RC?!! Been a while huh? I guess if we count the Senton Boost it hasn't been that long.. but I don't count that. LOL. I look forward to hearing an unbiased opinion on the Maxx Slash. I like the possibilities that this chassis opens up more than the truck as a whole. It's just the chassis that's actually new right? I think it's significant nonetheless.
Edit, I forgot, you did a vid on the 4s Mojo too. I have to admit, I'd likely buy the Mojo 4s and some spare bodies and reinforcement supplies for the bodies over this Maxx Slash. Just me.😉👍
I was excited untill i saw it in person and took the body off ! Its so plain looking and $700 , i was so disappointed . Its a well built truck but not $700 . Fyi nice 1st thoughts and look over .
$700 is a little high for sure.
I would be thrilled if it was $700 over here in Norway. I will have to buy it for $945.

Looks cool but a bit weird proportion-wise, cool to see another option in this scale though to complement the Mojave.

I've only started with some Arrma 4X4 3S vehicles and wonder how you feel about their exposed center drive shafts compared to Traxxas enclosed ones? I tend to run in dirt lots with lots and they get in everywhere.
I picked up a rock-n-roll last night.
They mounted the ESC backwards so you can have the longest wires possible for added weight mounted high
I hope you didn't pay for that truck! I'm more and more glad I got my Arrma 4S Mojave as I watch these Traxxas reviews. The Traxxas Taxxas just ain't worth it now that the competition has come out swinging.
Thank you for sharing your opinion. For me, it's the other way around. The more I watch these Traxxas reviews, the more interested I get in their vehicles.

What I’m hearing is we can make a really cool unit! Max slash with the max suspension arm etc, basically cam make a super cool traxxas version of a kraton!!

It looks really awesome and tuff but the $700 price tag you don't even get a motor fan or Bluetooth module but you get all of the sensor's WTH Traxxas ??????????
Just change up the esc in the Mojave 4s to a 150a, then run 6s. Save a bunch of cash & have a faster truck than the Max Slash.

@chubn1 FYI I'm running 6s on all my 4s Arrma rigs with no issues , but its actually fun on 3s and 4s to be honest .

That receiver box looks so firmiliar, it's not the 4 tec box I don't think but it looks close
Take $50 off the price and it's good. $650 for this truck is appropriate I think.
HRB 6s 5200 packs should fit, soft case though so if you’re wanting hard case I have no suggestions 🤐🤙🏻

I cooked this thing with my Mojave 4s today😂! My buddy spent more time putting the body back on. I thank him for buying it, now I know better😂😅😅😂! First, the Stampede/Hoss 2s, now this! What's next, the Ultimate Xmaxx, oh wait......😮😮😮

If I buy the chassis and center driveshaft of this truck, would I be able to convert my maxx v2 into a maxx XL?
If the chassis bolts on the same way to the front and rear clips along with the battery tray and you use a custom body and mounts....maybe.
I’m thinking traxxas marketing team did something pritortery so we CANT do just that. I’m curious 👀myself but I know how they think , they only carry about newbies because that’s how buis works , if you love Rcs and traxxas you wait for the V3 maxx 😂

I don't know why they didn't just use the sledge rear shocks. I'm guessing they are too long 🤔
Because they used the Maxx hocks that are already in production.

I think they were trying to keep as much interchangeability with the Maxx as possible. But also, this new part lets you retrofit it to the Maxx which is nice.

Hello...Can we fit that shock extender piece on the Maxx V2 as well??
Yes should be able to as you just use the screw to attach it although I don’t have one
The lower arms are different. I just tried the extender on my Maxx with the widemaxx kit, does not fit.

Lack of suspension travel is an issue in this RC as same as the Maxx V2!
@Robcbr500 It's a short course BASHER truck. Anything that's not a racer or a Tamiya is a basher.
