True story. Poor Ed had a procedure to remove a birth mark when he was little and the trauma of the experience left him with a stutter. Em’s work helped him work through it. It’s so cool to see this connection lead to what we have today.
It’s fictional but a powerful story and you’re right, playing these games just ends up hurting ourselves, others and in this fictional story, it also hurts an unborn child.

Especially when Eminem goes 'I really would've loved your smile' and Ed's song he goes something like 'with a smile like hers'. I feel they touched on Ed's song in this. My opinion anyway

His songs that are basically duets are so good like “walk on water” and “love the way you lie” “revenge” with Pink (one of my absolute favorite artists and humans) all those collaborations create such deep, layered songs with really interesting chorus meets rap stuff. Hope you check out more. Also Ed sheeran with Andrea Bocelli on “Perfect”….gorgeous!

Later, when touring with 50 cent in the UK, he asked Ed to make a guest appearance at a concert, which Ed jumped at. After the concert, Ed went to find Em backstage, he had a song that he wanted to play to Em, and ask if he would feature on it. He found Em and 50 Cent in one of the rooms, and said to them "Do you guys believe in fate?". Ed had also wanted 50 cent to appear on it, and there he was, right there with Em. Ed pulled out his guitar and started singing the song he wrote, both Em and 50 wanted in on it. A few months later "Remember the Name" was featured on Eds next album, definitely worth checking. Edit. Apparantly it is possible to improve from stuttering by learning to rap. I have read about it before and later on i read in an interview with Ed Sheeran that he grew past his stuttering by learning to rap on eminems music. Which is offcourse a great prelude to them working together on music.
I couldn’t wait to see this reaction! I think I started watching it 3 minutes after it posted. 😂 Yeah, the two artists don’t seem like they would go together, but it’s a great combo! And I love how the video was filmed - there are some gorgeous, cinematic shots in it. Footage is not real - just very good and convincing acting. From everything I understand, it’s not based on a true story from Ed or Em. I think the two had discussed doing a song together just based on the concept of a toxic relationship (the video was released on Valentine’s Day just for the irony). Ed wrote/recorded his part, sent it to Em, and then didn’t hear anything back for roughly a year, and assumed Em had just changed his mind. But then out of nowhere, Em sent the finished track back. 😂 I mean, Em has aired plenty of his laundry over the years, so it’s not out of the realm of possibility that this could be based on a real personal situation, but I personally highly doubt it. He’s adopted/raised multiple kids that aren’t his - his younger half brother Nathan, Alaina, Whitney - and some of that transpired before he hit it big. That kind of paternal responsibility for kids that aren’t even biologically his just doesn’t seem to equate with the actions of the person within the song. 🤷♀️ I think it’s just really good storytelling, like “Stan.” I laughed and was so proud when you caught the “ex lacks”/Ex-lax double. Em also has a sneaky Spider-Man scheme in there. But my personal favorite line is “This love triangle left us in a wreck, tangled (rectangle).” I also just love the poetry of “Why do I do this dirt that I do? Get on my soapbox and preach my sermon and speech. Detergent and bleach is burning the wound.” He is a modern day Shakespeare. Interesting fact - Ed once suffered from a stutter related to nerve damage from a medical procedure. As a kid, he adored Eminem, and credits rapping along to Eminem as helping him overcome his stutter. ☺️ Another interesting side note - there were apparently some rumors about Eminem being “caught” engaging in some sleazy affair when he and this actress were seen going into a hotel, but it was literally just for the filming of this video. He makes a cheeky reference to that in his song “Fall.”
I’ve heard this song 50 times and just caught a double I never caught before. “She’ll be my Gwen Stacey to Spider-Man” or “She’ll be my Gwen Stacey to spite her man”. Brilliant.

You didn't seem to notice, but in the lines below, he is actually talking about Spider-man's girlfriend, Gwen Stacy, who dies in the comics due to Spider-man's lack of experience with hanging/saving people on his web. When knowing this backstory, the "to spite her man," automatically becomes "spider-man." It's amazing. "Knife in hand, says their relationship's hangin' by a strand So she's been on the web lately Says maybe she'll be my Gwen Stacy, to spite her man"
I just love your reactions! I myself work with at risk young women. Many suffer with addiction and have been abused. So often the ones who help younger generations have been through similar situations. Thank you for posting these wonderful and thoughtful reactions!
When you look more into Em's family life you understand that he can play the "villan" in the piece because he is so comfortable with his own ability as a father. his daughters both natural and adopted legal, legitimate or other He has become a role model for responsible parenting and his "we cant keep this kid" is a triple all on its own. every choice right and wrong hard and painful in one short statement. a child is not a band aid.
What you thought was a typical infidelity story turned into so much more, and you realize the song is truly about the decisions that led to an abortion. Hello Chris, the special thing about this music video is that it was released on 14th February 2018, which you know is valentine's day. Its like Em wanted us to realize the dark side of relationships, and Em's a great actor, you know. This is “larryshair” reaction video. I think it’s important to bring to the table your personal life views. It is what makes your channel very valuable with content discussion. A real thought provoking insight. Honesty. Looking at other reactors they have a very different flavor. IMHO if you were not such a transparent guy you wouldn’t have the following you do. You can be encouraging in the face of very difficult life choices portrayed in many of the videos you react to which may help out a subscriber. You did stop to comment often for this video but necessary here with so much happening. Sometimes songs are going to need that. It’s the nature of storytelling through music. Seems all good to me. 👍🏻

Angelina..... That's how you and I started out, remember? I haven't changed when it comes to her. I still honestly think and believe that she is the best singer alive today. At 16.
I hope all is well with you and your family, too ❤️❤️❤️
Hello Chris, the special thing about this music video is that it was released on 14th February 2018, which you know is valentine's day. Its like Em wanted us to realize the dark side of relationships, and Em's a great actor, you know. This song is a certified platinum
And one more thing, I can guarantee you that you will not find any bad or boring or irrelevant Eminem song, since you give more preference to lyrics. Em is great, if rap is religion, Eminem is the GOD
Haha I love watching him catching and working out the ex lax bar
Damn Chris, now I will have to try it but with roast beef
Yes its for the video purpose only! Eminem actually "leaked" and used that one scene to Promote his album! Critics and basicly whole world thought that it was real footage too! So dont feel bad! He explains it in one of his songs called fall! You should check it out too!!
Pb&j. What!? 😆. You're such a wonderful trip.
lol, it's yummy! TRUST me!
I have a feeling that Ed’s part in this song, is him speaking to the unborn child; a voice for the unborn child.
Thank you so much for your kind words. Truly!
You should check out the other songs Eminem has done with Ed Sheeran, as well as the songs with other artists that, at the time, people didn't really see coming (collaboration-wise):
Beyonce
P!nk
Rihanna
Alicia Keys
Gwen Stefani
Not all of them have videos tho
LMAO, Ah man, I was dying when you caught the double of ex and ex-lax. Sounded like Beavis and butthead chuckling. :D
Again a great Reaction! Still waiting for Rock Bottom (1999, written 1996/7) and please react to the Videos of My Name Is (99, first Hit Single) and The Way I Am (00, big Hit from his Third Album)
It sounds like Em says: "By Shoshanne" when he says: "By Susanne" which makes me think if it's nodded towards the Tarantino line : "Au revoir Shoshanna"
Your Mother must be so proud of you and your sister! So proud of the wonderful people you've becomr
Sorry...you've become!!!
Thanks so much! I'm so very proud of HER!
Good lyrics keeps the vibe buh great lyrics will always pull a story in each n everyone of us🔥🔥
Thanks for sharing that story 🔥
Thanks for your reactions🔥
#respect
It’s just for the video. But maybe the picture painted is real.
One of my favorite songs from the past 10 years
"Remember The Name" by Ed Sheeran ft Eminem and fifty cent is another fun song that's well worth a listen too
Yes sir...you caught the double exlax...LOL
But missed the “despite her man” (sounded like/was supposed to sound like Spider-Man). Don’t feel bad. You can listen to his songs 50 times before you catch all the little details! 🤯
Also fun fact Ed Sheeran was inspired Eminem he used to have a speech impediment and Eminems album taught Ed how to articulate his words
Great reaction! I recommend you check out "Car Radio" by Twenty One Pilots, would love to hear your thoughts on it!
Hi loving your reactions, just got to say you were right on the edge of catching a great usage of wordplay, you kept rewinding the song to the same place I honestly think your brain was trying to figure it out but you just couldn’t catch it, the line was …she was my Gwen Stacy in spite her man (Spider-Man) arrrrgh I was rooting you on to catch it lol ❤️🇬🇧
“This triangle left us in a wreck tangled (rectangle = 4 of them)”
The gwen stacy to spite her man is so good, i thought for years because ididn't read the lyrics that he said be my gwen stacy to spider-man but he meant for it to sound like he said that, em is crazy with these, he has another one i didn't catxh for a long time and thats when he has the whole skeem about dogs barking and him being a dog thats i a bar- king bark bark i rhink its alfreds theme but i'm not sure
Yeah do "You never Over" it's his tribute to Proof. Today is the day he passed.
Great reaction to a great song! Thanks for uploading ❤️❤️
I see your comments in every good em reactor.
Sometimes makes me think you are em's ghost account.
@@someordinarystan2692 then that makes me a ghost account for em too?
@@bigbeast5981 Maybe you are, maybe I am
This love triangle
Left us in a wreck, tangled (rectangle)
Says maybe she’ll be my Gwen stacy, to spite her man (Spider-Man). That shit still blows my mind everytime I hear it
This song just surpassed 700 million streams!
That's crazy!
I think you should check out a couple of songs from the artist macklemore as well (specifically “otherside” and “Glorious”) hes another rapper with very meaningful lyrics
He makes another great wordplay when he says «despite her man» which also sounds like «to spider-man
Love to see you do Eminem ft Ed Sheeran "Those Kinda Nights" such a funny track with a bouncing beat and multiple entendres
"Maybe she'll be my Gwen Stacy, to spiderman (spite her man)"
"This love triangle left us in a wreck tangled (rectangled)"
9:40 There's actually a song with Ed, Eminem and 50 cent and Ed raps. It's called "Remember The Name"
there are at least 2 more collaborations of Em and Ed. this is by far the most serious piece. the other two are more club bangers. - it's real footage of a music video. it's not real life, it's just for the song. Em is an amazing actor.
Killed me missing that Gwen Stacy "to Spiderman" vs "to spite her man".
You got to check out remember the name by Ed Sheeran Eminem and 50 Cent.
Eminem is a writer man, he can make songs whatever he imagines
😆papa Chris was lecturing us about the bees. Yes boys and girls. Keep it in your pants or rubbers if you're not ready for consequences! lol another great reaction!
lol, thanks son!
RIP Proof.

peanut butter-jelly-chicken-tuna sandwich..."Rainman" Eminem
Love the content!
Thanks so much!
Good video awesome song great show
You need to move to other amazing poet rap artists. I would highly suggest listening to Kendrick Lamar. He won a Pulitzer prize for his amazing lyrics. (The only rap artist to ever do so). Listen to "How Much a Dollar Cost" with the lyrics included. Its such a piece of art.
I think watching the ‘we made you’ music video by Eminem would be a nice change of pace. It’s a goofy song and shows a bit of Eminem’s funny side.
