Been slowly showing my mom who is 58, who always told me to turn off/turn down my rap music growing up, certain songs and asked her to really listen to the lyrics and rhythm ~15 years later. She still much prefers classic/acid rock and singers like Natalie Merchant, but she now understands and appreciates what hip hop is/can be. She's heard a few songs and teared up saying "I never knew how meaningful these songs could actually be." I think a lot of the older generations hear aggressive lyrics/deliveries, no traditional instruments being played live, think it's all about terrible, violent/vulgar topics, and don't actually listen to how deep and amazing the genre can be. She's heard a few of my songs (I haven't written or recorded in years) and was surprised how personal and beautiful the lyrics were. I only uploaded one random small freestyle that was just lyrical miracle spiritual back when I was 19, and honestly it's not worth listening to. It's terribly mixed and recorded.

It warms my heart to see you getting so enthralled with Eminem's music. I started listening when I was 13 with "When I'm Gone". You're making me consider opening my mind to more music.
Its so refreshing to see someone who openly admits he never listend to an artist finally listen and realise the reality behind them (em in this instance), eminem is a genius, alot of people only hear certain songs and read certain things about him and his history, but hearing a song and listening to a song are very different things, great review again, keep it up 👍
As someone without a dad, Eminem's feelings speak to me. People say the dad did care but I feel just like Eminem. In childhood u need both parents and missing one or both cuz they walked out to start a new family, you begin to feel unwanted and getting in relationships u end up being afraid of people leaving so u will try to save it even if it's toxic. Then when your parent wants u back when u are grown up and able to move on you are pissed cuz u thought there was something wrong with u and thats why they didnt want you. It's not fair, not when u learn to rely on yourself. Not when u did everything to keep them and they didnt try. Not when u cried for them to come back. Those wounds stay fresh. It also affects the other parent. Both Eminem and I have blamed our mothers but they only could do so much without having someone else there to help. Trauma can make you into the people who hurt you or they can teach you to be better. Eminem is an example of overcoming trauma.
Yes! Been waiting so long for you to do this one; it's SO SO SO GOOD! Seriously, Em's bars in this are insanely good, and honestly, I enjoy this one so much because my mother abused the shit out of me as a kid. Basically, every kiss felt like a down payment on a punch to the face from the time I was 8 until I fought back at 16 and made her realize that I could do some damage in return. Been no contact with her now for 6 years and have enjoyed the silence ever since; she is a horrible human being and I can absolutely see where Em is coming from. I'd go to Hell just to kick her ass, too, if I hadn't already done it as a teenager.
@@larryshair thanks, it is what it is. I'm just grateful that I have 3 boys now and I've broken the cycle of hundreds of years of Native Americans passing on generational abuse. They won't get beat like I did, or my mother did, or my abuelo did, so it's progress. Just slow progress as we get more and more distanced from life on the Rez.

My Dad was consumed by alcohol as well. But never did he once lay a finger on me, my sisters or my mom. He kept all the pain inside.. we lost him to cancer. May his soul rest in peace. There’s still a lot of things left unsaid between us. So this song resonates with me on so many levels.
i love how you have taken the time to actually appreciate Eminem for what he really is. alot of people have been Stans from the start & others never gave him a chance just thinking he was some crazy badmouthed "rapper". but as you are finding out he is MUCH MUCH more then that. he has helped alot of people from all walks of life through his music. has something for everyone, every emotion, just everything. his catalogue is untouched & probably one of the MOST dedicated artists to his craft of our time. can't wait to see an 80yr old Em still on top ha
Hello! It's so delightful to see someone react like this to an artist I literally grew up on, I was 14 when I first heard Eminem and I've followed him ever since (I'm 36 now lol) Keep up the good work, your reactions are so pure and authentic. Congratulations for finding Eminem haha take care. G
I've had my ups and downs. I do like opera and a few other genres. I do rapping to release tension due to my schizophrenia, depression and anxiety. He has alot of music. Eminem during a period taught me to keep fighting even when shit hits the fan. When he is at a low, I felt that. I was that. Consistently beaten and abused and "triggered" which the word was important to understand trauma and not overreaction. Eminem just cut loose on everyone. No one equally will escape it when he fights back or even speaks beautifully with tracks that anyone will play. Heck, his pen is just fucking amazing. Sure, he is white but he is a rapper. That is all that matters. An artist with his pen and thoughts and massive way of really digging into someone through words is impressive. Unless you go through all of his story and discography, you will only see a small portion of what he contributed to the world and hip hop as a whole. Love him or hate him, can't deny his skill and straight up savagery
I’ve had the pleasure of spending 23 years with this genius. I’m nearly 42 and I was so lucky to hear him as he just started but you didn’t miss out. You will always be welcome as a Stan. ❤️❤️🇮🇪
This is no Slim Shady, this is Marshall Mathers, pure and simple. At least as I understand it, its Marshall when hes talking like this, straight up with minimum schemes and doubles (for his standarts at least) and telling some real intimate personal story (like songs about his kids), its Eminem when it is at its most artistic and technical with bars and triples (like Alfreds Theme, Rap God, Darkness etc.) and its Slim Shady when hes just going off berseker style with battle raps aiming at the whole universe... but then again most of his songs combine all those elements in some measure, and through them all shines the infinite light of some higher power.
Your reactions to eminem are awesome and so genuine. I'm sure you have had this requested but Not Afraid is a great track that was his turn to sobriety you would love. Also Rock Bottom from slim shady lp. Keep up the great work!
🤣🤣🤣🤣.. I'm not even 2 min in... But you just floored me with the "he's chopping it up" "bars" I can't breath.. holy crap.. you are great bud. Love your personality & realness. I told you I adopted you as my cool uncle.. it's solidified now.. 👍✌️
Great reaction as always! It’s always interesting to see ya. You should listen to Rock Bottom, a song before he got famous, written in 96, to see more where he comes from! Love from Barcelona, Catalonia!
Hey Larry, I hope you can see this. So this song is from his last album, I believe and the last 2 albums have been a mix of Eminem and Shady. Because when he got backlash from the album Relapse being pretty terrible (he admitted himself) he cleaned his act up and became Marshall and his rap changed from controversial, silly and somewhat offensive to having a lot more word play and having more of an at peace feeling behind it. But then when people asked him to have an opinion on stuff happening in thr world he brought out revival which had some good songs but it got hit hard by media for him being against Trump and again having some controversial opinions. A lot of people where taking shots at him which really pissed him off. Which prompted him to surprise release the album Kamakize by, which is a mix of Eminem/Marshall and Shady. He has the angry passion of Shady but the insane word play than he turned to when he first dropped the Shady identity. I would suggest listening to Premonition(which is the starting of his album and really sets the tone of it) then Fall which is a song where he hits back at a bunch of people who were taking shots at him. As well I would suggest Not afraid which was a major hit from Recovery Album and that was the first big switch from Shady to Marshall.
I should also say I'm very happy to see you reaching to leaving Heaven, this song is one of my top 5 favorites. An just a small FYI I'm in Eminems top 1% listeners on Spotify haha I'm obsessed.
Too bad people hated Relapse, to me it’s a masterpiece. My 2nd favourite Eminem album for sure. It has so many classic songs on it; Beautiful, Crack a Bottle, My Darling, Careful What You Wish For, Deja Vu, 3 a.m., etc.
17:35 funny you say that because this along with “Godzilla” was from his latest album “Music to be Murdered by” (if you consider Side B to be one album). A lot of people we’re saying how he isn’t the same Eminem as he was even 10 years ago but I definitely saw some “Curtain Call” Eminem in this song. He wrote this song after he was notified his father passed.
I love all these em reactions! Two songs I would love to see you react to are Walk on Water (tells a very deep message) and Gnat (bars and flow for days)
I really love watching you discover my favorite artist and start to feel the same way I do about him. This music got me through my darkest times and still does. It’s perfection to me. His vulnerability and truth spills out of his art in the most perfect way
Saw him live in 2018 in a crowd of about 80.000 people.. I feel blessed having seen this legend! For me Eminems Music helped me when I was a kid and my father fell into alcoholism.. he never recovered and I also lost him a couple of years ago.. I feel you man. It‘s weird but they didn‘t give their best, and I feel you don‘t have to feel weird talking about that.. stuff happens. Glad you discover Em now bit by bit! Love your reactions a lot! 🙌💚
you might have noticed the reference to someone named "de'angelo" in the song. de'angelo bailey was one of eminem's childhood bullies. he beat up em so bad in the bathroom at school that it forced him into a coma. after he woke up he had to relearn how to walk and talk again, he must've been 10 maybe younger. eminem went on to write a song about it on his first mainstream album "the slim shady lp" (1999). the song is called 'brain damage". i also recommend you watch a documentary ruclips.net/video/kEfIiGiPJ6I/видео.html its all about his life from beginning to around 2007 or 2008 i'd say, since it came out around then. they interview his mother, his uncle, numerous friends he grew up with, coworkers, etc. very interesting and you will learn so much about him and his family, including his father. not to mention his career as well.
Hmm, the relearning of motor skills was after his overdosing, when he almost died in '07. Haven't heard him talking about relearning motor skills after his coma at age 9
I am 50, been listening to Em all his career. I will say this, of my entire time listening, I only started appreciating his genius within the last 10 or so years. I can say, if you gave him a chance back then, you might not have been in the right frame of mind to appreciate what your life experience gave you now to appreciate it. It could have turned you off so bad, you end of disliking him and then you are not here, providing some of us old farts reminders of our past reactions when we heard what you are hearing. Fact is, you are here now and have plenty to catch up with...:) great job, brother and, side note, you are expected to rewind and play a verse again. If you ever want a change of pace, look up Nightwish, Ghost Love Score live in Wacken 2013
Some context. Eminem’s father disappeared when he was a baby, he tried to show back up when Eminem became famous. His dad did an interview and held up baby pictures as if he was so proud of him like he had anything to do with it. But em is saying if he was so proud why did he leave? So truly f*ck him. It makes total sense. Also some funny ones not sure if you missed. “When I look at my legacy, all I see is a bunch of dogs trying to dry hump it”. Which is also “I look at my leg I see a bunch of dogs trying to dry hump it” referring to other rappers/detractors that were trying to literally screw Eminem’s legacy up by saying he was a cultural appropriator and tear down his respect in hip hop. “I call em toy soldiers, cuz they just wind up on their backs” the actual toy soldiers who you wind up the crank on their backs to make them walk. But his actual detractors just end up on their backs falling over when they try to attack him. Line them up and they’ll end up in a stack… it’s true lol Eminem would appreciate your reactions to all of these songs because it really is made for adults to understand, but mostly kids listen to it. Now that he’s a grown adult he has gotten more deep. These are scars he’s had for many years.
I wish more people would give Eminem a try rather than running with preconceived ideas about him, what you're putting out is a service Larry, hopefully more people listen to more than what they know like yourself, thank you for putting me on to other artists I haven't heard before like Arora
A little over 20 yrs....maybe you wouldn't have been ready earlier! Right now your a little older & able to appreciate what Eminem does with his pen! 😁 He has ..In my opinion....become an expert in his craft! No one comes close to what he can do! The way he constructs the words, the way he says them, the way he switches his flow so many times in one song! He wrote to his father several times as a teenager and every one of them were sent back to him unopened!!! It wasn't until he became famous did his father contact him!! This man can tell a story through song better than anyone I have ever listened to!!! Elvis used to put so much feeling into a song.....you felt it to! Not saying that one is like the other or better than the other! Eminem does remind me of Elvis though. They both have something about them that comes through & touches people! Think about it....what other artist out there can capture an audience the way they do! Or what other artist has fans that are so loyal & protective of them?!!! They both show a vulnerability that makes you feel with them & for them! Goodness forbid anyone say anything bad about them! lol Maybe I'm wrong....or on the wrong track....Idk
Hey, I know you get these comments all the time but you are a great youtuber and you make my day. I love your vids man! I have been battling depression and your videos are part of the reason why I want to live.
Better late than never Chris! You have the advantage of having all this wisdom and life experience now and you can truly appreciate him. As I've said before, Em has transformed and evolved a lot over the years. Now you have access to his whole discography, from the silly, funny, shocking, dark, to the mature, introspective, deep and heart breaking. Enjoy the ride❤️
Enjoyed your reaction as usual. I'm really just discovering this song. Whew! Eminem was divesting himself of his rage at his Dad. Two things: Yay! Eminem is being inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame! And, if you aren't already aware, there are a lot resources for "Adult Children of Alcoholics." It's a thing and there are specific behavior patterns children of alcoholics experience. Dig in and you'll find a lot of the stuff you've experienced in your life explained.
When I suggest this song I was having his dad's verse in mind. I knew you would like this one. I also think you should put "step dad" to the list. I was excited seeing this video coming through. Thank you very much. Worth the wait of 30 years
Haha I love your reactions ! Remind me of my first listenings to his songs. There’s so much more to his writing , and each time you’re knocked down. That’s what he does. Cleaning out my closet is very dark as well. You should listen to it
Thanks again, im a fan sinds '99! and have all the albums i love the way you notice the craft of this man. keep up the great work!! GREETINGS FROM THE NETHERLANDS!!!!!
I want to give it up to Eminem, not just for the lyrical content, not just for the brutal honesty, but for the way he composes a song. I love the music in this song, the twinkling piano keys, the sorrowful strings in the background. The entire musical build up of the third verse, and at 12:21, this part of the song gives me goosebumps every time I hear it, it's beautiful. Shout out to Skylar Grey too, I know she played a big part in the production of the song as well.
The story is flipped for me, My Mother left when i was about 5-6 another man gave her a choice, the kids or him, got to see here once a week for about 3 hours until i was old enough to make my own choices, im 38 now and see her possibly once or twice a year (my kids Birthdays) She still to this day swears she did nothing wrong and cant understand why i have nothing to do with her, Good thing on my part is i only have one parent to lose because i lost my mum at 6 years old. PS love your Videos and glad you finally found EM, ive been a fan since 99-00
Eminem has never known his father, he abandoned him when he was a baby. That's why he said in the song about a photo holding him in her arms, that was the only photo he saw of his father and that his father has with him, being a baby and holding him. Later he did not appear again but humorous rumor that when he became famous he did as some intention but it was just that. By the way Larry, the choir girl, from the chorus is Skylar Grey, the one I recommended to you several times. She is wonderful. Eminem helps her a lot and calls her many times to do things together. Because she is also a very good writer.
Always liked his Rhymes and flows.... but only in the last 7 years did his lyrics hit it to me, after a friend with Substance problems, told me about how Eminem's music helped him in some difficult times and for him to accept he was an Addict
Great video as always, speaking of emotional songs, "fine line" is a must to do. Not only emotion wise, the most underrated song he's ever made in my opinion and its coming from guy thats as STAN as it gets
It wasn’t a waste of 20-30 years, you found him when you were supposed to find him, when you were ready to ♥️

It warms my heart to see you getting so enthralled with Eminem's music. I started listening when I was 13 with "When I'm Gone". You're making me consider opening my mind to more music.
Damn, I started at 13 with "When I'm Gone" as well!!
Same here man! Used to listen in bed at like 2 in the morning!!
This song always brings me to tears. My dad left at 3 years old.
Dre is a father figure form he truly loves that man.
Try "Legacy" the guy rhymes the entire song with one word
Eminem is the perfect mix of brilliant and petty
"COLD WIND BLOWS" by Eminem is a great showcase of his lyrical skill. I'd enjoy watching a reaction to that song as well.
Wow, I'm so very sorry! There's no reason a parent should act in those evil ways.
@@larryshair thanks, it is what it is. I'm just grateful that I have 3 boys now and I've broken the cycle of hundreds of years of Native Americans passing on generational abuse. They won't get beat like I did, or my mother did, or my abuelo did, so it's progress. Just slow progress as we get more and more distanced from life on the Rez.
i'm a 60 year old woman. you are at a place that i was at when Kamikaze came out. i was ready to hear him. that's where you are. you are ready to hear him.
My Dad was consumed by alcohol as well. But never did he once lay a finger on me, my sisters or my mom. He kept all the pain inside.. we lost him to cancer. May his soul rest in peace. There’s still a lot of things left unsaid between us. So this song resonates with me on so many levels.
This dude is actually so cute and endearing. The positivity is glowing
i love how you have taken the time to actually appreciate Eminem for what he really is.
alot of people have been Stans from the start & others never gave him a chance just thinking he was some crazy badmouthed "rapper". but as you are finding out he is MUCH MUCH more then that. he has helped alot of people from all walks of life through his music. has something for everyone, every emotion, just everything.
his catalogue is untouched & probably one of the MOST dedicated artists to his craft of our time. can't wait to see an 80yr old Em still on top ha
"Walk on Water" is a must
Hello! It's so delightful to see someone react like this to an artist I literally grew up on, I was 14 when I first heard Eminem and I've followed him ever since (I'm 36 now lol)
Keep up the good work, your reactions are so pure and authentic. Congratulations for finding Eminem haha take care. G
ADD eminem legacy to the list crying everytime 🥲🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼😍
Bro his reactions are so good you just have to leave a like when he gets so cheerful
Thanks Jacob!
Eminem- Space Bound
That last part of the second verse gives me goosebumps EVERY SINGLE TIME. not just the speed but the cadence and emotion!
Those last bars leading to "tell the Devil" then going into the Chorus. Hits so hard everytime. Such an amazing song
I’ve had the pleasure of spending 23 years with this genius. I’m nearly 42 and I was so lucky to hear him as he just started but you didn’t miss out. You will always be welcome as a Stan. ❤️❤️🇮🇪
RIP Proof!! ❤️
Without you... No Eminem..
Rock Bottom gets another vote from me, fantastic song👍
This is one of my favorite em songs, glad you decided to react to it!
There is no chronology to his personas. He brings them in and out as he sees fit for the tracks on each album.
🤣🤣🤣🤣.. I'm not even 2 min in...
But you just floored me with the "he's chopping it up" "bars"
I can't breath.. holy crap.. you are great bud. Love your personality & realness.
I told you I adopted you as my cool uncle.. it's solidified now.. 👍✌️
lol! Thanks Neph!
@@larryshair your very welcome unk. 😆 ✌️👍
I've listened to so much of his music and never heard this one. Thank you for the reaction! Definitely connect to this one!
Skyler Gray does several songs with him. She has a gorgeous voice.
Great reaction as always! It’s always interesting to see ya. You should listen to Rock Bottom, a song before he got famous, written in 96, to see more where he comes from! Love from Barcelona, Catalonia!
I've been waiting for this!! One of my favourite Eminem songs!! Great Video🙏🏻🙏🏻
In order, Not afraid, Premonition into Fall.
Thanks KM!!!!
Too bad people hated Relapse, to me it’s a masterpiece. My 2nd favourite Eminem album for sure. It has so many classic songs on it; Beautiful, Crack a Bottle, My Darling, Careful What You Wish For, Deja Vu, 3 a.m., etc.
Hey mingo check this Eminem reactor out 🔥🔥 mind of a Rapper kings never die and other videos.
Thank you. Waiting for this for what feels like forever
Years now and that last verse still gives me unbearable chills!!! Expecailly with my circumstances..!
Was literally at work today thinking to myself "Would be great to see Larryshair react to 'Eminem - Leaving Heaven'" and this pops up.. Holy shi.. 😲 🔥
lol, thanks!
Excellent Chris. And I agree, Eminem is beyond a prodigy ❤️🔥🙌🙌
Ems songs are so deep and real. My childhood was similar to his in a lot of ways. His songs hypnotize me and really make me think and feel.
Then De Angelo sued him for putting his name in the song!
Hmm, the relearning of motor skills was after his overdosing, when he almost died in '07. Haven't heard him talking about relearning motor skills after his coma at age 9
@@DaP84 watch the video in the link, his mother said it, not me.
Thanks so much for this! Much appreciated!
“Chopping a little bit, I’m learning the lingo”😂😂 that made my day
Some context.
Line them up and they’ll end up in a stack… it’s true lol
Eminem would appreciate your reactions to all of these songs because it really is made for adults to understand, but mostly kids listen to it.
Thanks Brian!
Great song about his father. I think he finally got his peace from hating him so much.
i always look forward to your videos thank you for sharing your musical journey
Thanks so much!
God bless you larry!!
Wow, thanks Nathan. You are very kind. Remember that you have great value and have so much to live for.
One of my favorites!!
Eminem - Groundhog day - is eminem rapping for 5 mins of a quick little synopsis on how he found rap and started rapping, definitely recommend!!
Hey man,
The Way I am,
By Eminem.
That's a gem.
My favorite song of Em
Another great video! I even watched the whole full ads for your channel.
When I suggest this song I was having his dad's verse in mind.
I knew you would like this one. I also think you should put "step dad" to the list.
I was excited seeing this video coming through. Thank you very much. Worth the wait of 30 years
Song came out last year i believe. Part of The Bside to the latest album hes made
January 2020 and it was on the A side of Music to be Murdered by
Workin 12-14hrs and watching your reaction once I'm home puts a smile on my face. Em low key helped out out growing up with his music.
Great reaction, This was one of my fav's from this album.
This is actually 1 of his newer releases, definatly no shady, but just em showing his true feelings
Leaving Heaven because he's the Rap God
One of my absolute favorite Eminem songs. Great reaction!
Deym its eminem reaction!!🔥🔥🔥
I just love this channel wen it comes for reacting to em😁
I love how you're comfortable to talk to us about your father ❤
Thanks!
Yesssss just got home from work, so excited to watch this! Love your reactions man! Keep up the great work!
Always liked his Rhymes and flows.... but only in the last 7 years did his lyrics hit it to me, after a friend with Substance problems, told me about how Eminem's music helped him in some difficult times and for him to accept he was an Addict
Keep up the good work. Love the reactions.
Thanks RG!
Great video as always, speaking of emotional songs, "fine line" is a must to do. Not only emotion wise, the most underrated song he's ever made in my opinion and its coming from guy thats as STAN as it gets
YES
Brother.... I love you I hear you I respect you. Mad respect to you. :)
Thanks Keith!
Great to see you finding em's humor(even in darker songs) you will really enjoy going back to slim shady era! Keep up the good work!
Oh god, you have to listen to "legacy" by Eminem, I don't even know why that sing popped in my head
Eminem and Skylar Grey's sound works really well with each other they have other great songs together like I Need a Doctor.
Oh yeah he needs to listen to that song. The power in Em's voice in this song is amazing
