Yeah, enjoying following the growth journey. Can see the Em Filter developing, it really takes attention to catch Em's Bars. you can really appreciate his work when you pay attention. Still there are some bars that need back story so you can enjoy the song in full. Every Sentence structure, word and any homonym this G.O.A.T puts out is thoroughly placed, and even the ad libs in the backgrounds give flavor and meanings. Gotta point you to KNox to give you a better explanation. KnoxNation come back me up on this. ruclips.net/video/AQ2yI0qiHOU/видео.html Breakdown of both rap devil / killshot , unbias as much as possible.

    Really hope you see this!
Eminem is lyrically and strategically insane, the title ‘Killshot’ isn’t even random, in 2008 a film called KillShot was released and the main character ’Colson’ was shot down by an officer named ‘Marshall’!! MGK’s really name is Colson! This guy thinks of things way deeper than any could imagine.

The “ playing dead is the only time you hold still” is a double. Holding Still like your playing dead is the obvious one, the 2nd is making it sound like hold steel (slang for gun)

    • @DaleWalter96
      @DaleWalter96 2 года назад +12

      @@emiliomp8812 it's not a triple.
The phone bill part has no relevance to the double meaning of the line.
"Run up on me like a phone bill" is a separate double in & of itself.
He says "...spraying lead, playing dead that's the only time you'll hold still (steel)"
Insinuating that MGK would never shoot an actual gun at him because MGK pretending to be dead is the only way that he would be holding still/holding steel.

    • @DaleWalter96
      @DaleWalter96 2 года назад +6

@@GhostWatcher2024 Firstly he doesn't say "being on hold" he says "that's the only way you hold still" & secondly that is what we call a 'reach' since there is no real correlation & you have to over-explain & alter the lyrics themselves for it to still barely make sense.

    • @DaleWalter96
      @DaleWalter96 2 года назад +1

If Em had said something about waiting on the phone for a long time or something to that effect, that's the only way it would possibly make sense but having to create a scenario for the bar to fit a nonexistent narrative, that's a reach.
Em still has plenty of triples elsewhere.
      Like potentially:
"Ain’t nothing changed but the locks"
      With locks meaning:
      1. Locks as in on a door, because he changed them on his home when he kicked people out. He is at home in hip hop.
      2. Locks as in locks of hair, because his hair color changed.
      3. Locks as in L.O.X., the rap group Jadakiss is in.
However, the' locks' being about his hair is also sort of a reach because nowhere does he mention anything about his hair in that scheme for the listener to correlate the line to anything.

    • @cathy2615
      @cathy2615 2 года назад

@@DaleWalter96 About that hair color change is not about blond to dark since Em did that sort of change more than once, I think this is about him getting older and having silver hair, Em have like a lot bars about being older and not changing his persona or style in Killshot so this bar is not exeption, he getting older but stills game is his.

This just scratches the surface of what is built into this:
-"One call to Interscope and your Swayze" referencing Patrick Swazey being dead. Also released on the anniversary of Patrick Swayze's death.
-"Ain't nothing changed but the locks. So before I slay this bitch, give Jade a kiss." There was a hip-hop group in the 90s called The Lox, who had a member named Jade-A-Kiss. Also can interpret "nothing changed but the locks" meaning his hair, AND locks to the game/industry. One more bit to the line, Eminem's daughter is named Halie Jade.
-MGK said in a radio interview he had another come back but decided to put it away and not release it because it wasn't time lol.
-"The day you put out a hit is the day Diddy admits he put out the hit that got Pac killed" Puff Daddy (Diddy) is MGK label owner. Diddy would never admit he put out a hit to get 2Pac killed since tit would put himself i prison, which means MGK will never release a hit.

Also one little addition, on sept 11 2018, Em released a short insta vid, where he plays pacman. MGK has a pacman tattoo on his neck. Even outside of the disstrack itself, Em was coming for the kill.

I’m SO happy you understand Eminem’s humor Chris! You caught so many bars / flips. This is a classic diss track, taking everything MGK said & flippin it back but with humor and no cheesy auto tune hook, and changing the flows, etc then as others have commented there are so many deeper meanings to the lyrics. Don’t feel bad for MGK, he asked for it 😎

  • @phillynac
    @phillynac 2 года назад +61

“The game is mine again and ain’t nothing changed but the locks, so before I slay this bitch, muuah, give Jade a kiss.” This is the craziest line of the song…nothing changed but the locks (lox of hair), he is saying the color of his hair is the only thing that changed since he ran things 20 years ago…He is also giving his daughter Hallie Jade a kiss when he says “give Jade a kiss.”…but there was also a group back in the day called “The Lox” and one of the members of “The Lox” is a rapper named “Jadakiss.” The depths to his songs are unreal. It is hard to appreciate what he does if you don’t listen to the songs multiple times to understand the different depths.

-Em calls him "Stan", like the Stan from the music... a crazy fan.. tied that with an autograph for his daughter
    - Em says "i call interscope and you are Swayze" like in Patrick Swayze, from the movie Ghost
-lil tay is a little girl rapper that kinda blew in youtube while ago...
    - when he say "my bistest flops are your greatest hits" it is actually true... his "worst" song still have numbers higher than anything MGK did...
-"as long as im shady, you will live in my shadow" word play with shade and shadow
    - about Diddy, its just a rumour... there is no proof he had anything to do with Pac's death...everybody that reacted to this song got shocked about that... Diddy was SOOO mad
-the last line "and im playing, Diddy, you know i love you" is his way of breaking the heaveness... he did it several times before.. spit harsh truths and in the end say that...

There is quite a lot more than this. Just to edit some of what you said slightly. Diddy, allowed MGK to drop the Rap Devil diss. Worldstar, is his label and it was seen as pretty disrespectful. It’s still widely believed that Diddy, put the hit out on Pac and seeing as Em, and Dre are so close it’s plausible he knows something

Em is from a school of hip-hop where a diss track means you're going at the other rappers throat, no holds barred. That's the mindset of someone who made his bones in the battle rap scene, and why he is always rapping to be the best there is. The real emcee's are in it to be the best every time cause nothing means more than respect and recognition from their peers. MGK doesn't have that in him even if he was a better rapper, and clearly there's no contest there haha I loved this video, Larry!

Heard em was gonna diss him over his Hayley tweet, and subliminal diss on a tech 9 song. but had no clue what Eminem was gonna say. Few days after the album dropped, MGK released rap devil on sound cloud, and tried to play it off like he made it in a couple days. But problem was, he had uploaded it to sound cloud months prior, and he didn't touch on anything Eminem said in "not alike". But then Eminem replied to rap devil and touched on EVERY POINT MGK had, and wrote and produced killshot in a weeks time... Extremely fast, especially because it probably took Eminem 6 of those 7 days mulling over if he should write and release something over that weak diss track MGK brought.

So, the kid got more recognition then Ever Before!!! Before this...most people had Never even heard of Mgk!!! lol So...Eminem gave him a career...then destroyed it! lol This was Awesome! So glad you checked this out! It's a lot to take in! I had to listen to it a few times to catch all the double & sometimes triple meanings! lol I'm still catching things I didn't before! lol Eminem is THE GOAT!!! The Undisputed Champion of the Hip Hop/Rapper World is .....of course.....Eminem 🐐!!!!

I guess as a Gex X baby, I have just seen and been part of so many things that it has made me see a different perspective on things. I see no race when i look at people and music i see as way for people to communicate ideas, thoughts and feelings. That form of expression is just as meaningful and powerful as photography, sculptures, architecture, paintings and everything else that has shaped this world. This world is a beautiful place and full of meaning because there is no place in the stars that is just like us. If we would actually listen and experience everything that this world has to offer and if everyone listened with an open mind, they would realize that we all have the same color of blood, we all have skin, hearts, bones, feelings, ideas, and dreams we would all be a better place. Plus on the bright side it might make it so we would see that we are not the only highly intelligent species on this wonderful earth or the stars.

that line about writing his name on the starter cap is deep because when he was responding to stan in STAN he said he didn't see them in the crowd here's an autograph I wrote it on the back of a starter cap but its deep because stan was already dead so the cap never made it to him. so he's giving MGK a signed starter cap but it'll never make it to him because he's already dead. idk thats how I take it

One thing that I always found “cool” that no one ever brings up (maybe coz I’m reaching 🤷‍♂️) is when he says “left hickys on her neck” paired with “compliment me on the next” which can be used as a homophone for “compliment me on the neck” which is what a hicky could be interpreted as, a compliment.
Before you read on, I did not write this out it was copy pasted from a YT user by the name of: @Denilson Desouza
    Enjoy.
There were layers to this song before it was even released:
-Eminem did a 7 minute video playing Pac Man.
-Eminem releases the track "Killshot" 7 days after Pac got shot, towards someone with Pac Man tattoos.
-One Pac's albums is called: The Don KIlluminati: The 7 Day Theory.
-Killshot is also the name of a movie where the main character "Colson" gets shot down by an experienced gunner; MGK's middle name is Colson.
-At the end of the track, Eminem talks about the call that got Pac shot and killed.
☠️ Taking these dates and numbers and trying to them together is not a reach. For example, just take this line :
"Say you got me in a scope, but you grazed me
I say one call to Interscope and you're Swayze"
Meaning if he called Interscope he'd disappear.
"Swayze" is synonym for "Ghost" and "gone/disappear"
"Ghost" was a 1990 movie with Patrick Swayze, who's character is ,murdered and is left to roam the earth as a powerless spirit.
☠️Killshot was released on the anniversary of Patrick Swayze's Death (September 14th, 2009)
MGK refers to himself as the Ghost of the future. Patrick Swayze was in a movie called Ghost, but also died on September 14th (release date of Killshot). And there was also a rapper called Shwayze who was essentially a one-hit wonder (if even that).
☠️Em played Pacman on Instagram for 7 minutes thinking of a masterpiece dissing a kid with pac man tattoos's releasing it 7 days after pac died.
    Also I found this:
☠️ 6B311 easter egg: Lethal injection go to sleep (6) feet deep. I give you a (B) for the effort but o I was (3) foot (11) you'd look up to me...
It may be a coincidence but if you google 6B311, there is a flight from Stockholm ro Rhodes (Greece) and 2 dates:
-Previous was: 14th September (killshot release)
-Next is: 21st September (MGK new album)
This whole plane situation sticks to the Kamikaze theme which has an airplane on the cover
Also if we push it, the flight company is TUIfly Nordic / Eminem is on his Nordic Track.
☠️I also found that 6B311 is the plane that carried the cast member of the movie "Killshot".
☠️On the movie 'Killshot, the main character's name was Colson, MGK's real name, and in the movie, Colson gets killed by the police MARSHAL. Eminem's real name is MARSHALL Mathers, saying he killed MGK in this song.
☠️Also *Lethal Injection, go to sleep six feet deep":
    -Ice Cube: Lethal Injection
    -Eminem: Go to Sleep
    -Gravediggaz :Six feet deep
☠️ The Jadakiss line is crazy too :
-LOX: Hip Hop group feat Jadakiss
    - Lox is a hairstyle which MGK used/uses
-Give Hailey Jade a kiss (this man literally said he's going to kiss his daughter before he fuck MGK up LOL)
-Changing the locks on the door, locks to his house (his house is hip hop)
-Jadakiss has an album called kiss of Death (Em is giving MGK the kiss of death with this song)
☠️Also also I found that goof is a well-known Canadian prison insult, so Eminem is pretty much calling MGK a pedophile for calling Hailey hot a the time she was 16.
☠️ALSO also also, Say you got me in the scope but you grazed me- graze literally means feeding a goat. So Em is saying he is the GOAT and MGK fed him. 🐐
☠️ ALSO, I'll give you *B for the effort"/ 'I'll give you *beef for the effort" is a dope double entendre.
☠️ Someone also pointed out that I'm 45 and I'm still outselling you can also be a wordplay. Clearly, he is talking about age. But it's funny he could be talking about a 45rpm, saying that he may be old, like a 45 but he is still outselling more. Than MGK. Not only that but 45 is a handgun, basically a handcannon. Just look up how many handguns were sold to civilians in the year 2019 compared to Machine Guns...🔫
☠️ ALSO, I had more money in O2 (oxygen= needed to create fire or to burn something), to burn it in front of you. 🔥
    💩 Meanwhile MGK: WEirD BeArD

Yes to all this! That’s why I love Em. Everything is done with purpose and has meaning. His lyrics literally are a weapon. That’s why in the song Best Friend that he is featured in with Yelawolf, it is perfect when he describes a gun by saying “Fill a syllable clip like a refillable script, cock and I shoot.” Because his words are like bullets that he shoots off, they are so well thought and specifically selected for the most effect and to have his message clearly directed.

I absolutely LOVE this deep dive. Especially since in the beginning he talks about needing reading material, referring to MGK trying to diss him over his well known reading of the dictionary. His use of language has actually been studied by college professors. MGK never had a chance.

Love the reaction! Re: How did Em “give him a career”- Em did a whole verse about MGK in “Not Alike” on the Kamikaze album in response to MGK’s subliminal diss on “No Reasons”. By doing that, he gave MGK a platform. MGK posted a video on Twitter of himself popping champagne while listening to “Not Alike” the day Kamikaze was released. “Rap Devil” came out a few days later. So he was just riding the hype wave. MGK also released a 24 minute EP called Binge just 2.5 weeks after “Rap Devil” was released and 1 week after “Killshot”, clearly trying to ride this new-found fame he got from going after Em. Em even said later in an interview with Sway that he did not want to respond initially because it would just benefit MGK's exposure.

There are so many layers in this diss track. It's insane! Here are a few of my favorites: 1. Eminem released KILLSHOT on September 14th and told MGK he would make him Swayze. 2. Patrick Swayze was in a movie called ‘Ghost’ in which his character is, a ghost. Patrick Swayze died on September 14th. 3. Killshot is a Movie, based on a Hitman who has to kill a man named Colson. MGK's name is Richard Colson Baker. 4. On September 7th, Eminem went live on IG and played Ms. Pac-Man for 7 minutes straight. 5. September 7th is the day that Pac was shot and MGK has a Pac-Man tattoo over his collarbones. (Neck area.) 6. Eminem’s "give Jade-a-kiss" line, followed up with the "game been same just the locks changed" (The Lox, Em's hair color, Jadakiss, Jade is Hailie’s middle name.) 🔥🐐🔥🐐🔥
People who think MGK killed Em and think KILLSHOT wasn't good or hard enough clearly don't understand the bars. They don't take the time to understand the bars, layers, double and triple entendres that Em spits. It's sad that these new cats don't truly understand a 'diss' track. The layers in Em's diss are absolutely insane! He is so incredibly talented and won't dumb his bars down for these lazy mumble rap kids. Not to mention; Em came up in battle rap and he carefully orchestrates his every move/bar. I've heard people say that Em didn't go 'hard' enough. Umm... duh! You can't spit everything you have on someone in the first full diss to anyone. That's why Em says, "What good is a machine gun when it's out of ammo?" MGK threw everything he had at Em on his song and has nothing else he can say. If Em wanted to/needed to diss him again, he has more ammunition. Classic battle tactic. 🔥👏🐐
I copied this comment from another channel, this shows how deep these bars were eventhough he was just playing 😂

Beefs like this are one of the reasons I got into rap. There's a good channel called Diverse Mentality who does documentaries on varies rap beefs and all the disses and meanings behind them.
Eminem, for his part, has remained relatively spotless. He has had beef with battle rapper Canibus, rapper and magazine CEO Ray Benzino, House of Pain member Everlast, an ongoing fued with Mariah Carey and her ex Nick Cannon, and some smaller ones that didn't warrant full songs.
Personally, my favorite battles have been RUclips rappers, mainly Upchurch vs Scru Face Jean and Lucid vs 100KUFIS.

not sure that's true, sure it ascended him to a height he had never been at before but then he squandered the opportunity when all eyes were on him. He bitched about Em calling him a mumble rapper and even though I didn't agree with it at the time, he releases Binge which is a mumble rap project, absolute trash. He then went to release Hotel Diablo which was in all fairness a good album, it just wasn't received well because of all the aftermath. That is why MGK switched genres and is making bad punk rock music. I mean did you see him eviscerate Aerials on the Howard Stern show, my God it was embarrassing.
