    As a 44 year old it is wild to be revisiting this through the cultural lense of today. It is so hard to explain what Eminem's first 2 albums did (well, not counting Infinite) when they came out to folks who weren't there. Add to the fact that I grew up, and at the time, was still living in the south suburbs of Denver not too far away from Columbine. People were acting like Em was the most dangerous villain alive (next to Marilyn Manson). Revisiting this track after almost 20 years, it still hits as raw as it did hearing it for the first time in 2000.

    I think Eminem's greatest quality as an artist is how fearless he is when attempting different cadences, accents, flows, he sings, he does imitations of people, all while still writing incredible rhymes and adlibs too. I can't think of another rapper that has even attempted to do what Eminem has done in terms of variety alone.

I mean did her herself say she was mad at it? or is everyone pulling this outta their arse! I was born in the 1980's and me and my friends knew exactly what Em was referring to even though we knew bundle of sticks and "happy" meaning too. We grew up making fun of it and bumping Em and nobody cared. I still don't sugar coat anything 30+ years old and the word "Homophobic" wasn't a thing any kid, pre-teen or teen used back then. I don't know many people who didn't love Em in the hood in New York besides those who just hated he was white and even they were listening to his music.

    “Relax, God, I like gay men, right Ken? Gimme an amen!” That’s the Saddam Hussein voice from South Park lol, that was such a classic era! MMLP sits at the pinnacle of my Top 5 Rap Albums, easily.

    • @JathraDH
      @JathraDH 5 месяцев назад +2

      It's actually Ken's voice, IE: Ken Kaniff, a 3rd char who appears in some of his skits. He doubled it off Cartman/Kenny from south park.

    • @tianam.964
      @tianam.964 5 месяцев назад +2

      @@JathraDH No, Ken Kaniff is the one who answers “Amen”. Em sometimes does the Cartman (Kenny was always muffled) voice, yes, but that was Saddam from South Park. They made him Satan’s boyfriend in the movie, and he says “Relax, God!” to him several times, it’s hilarious.

    "Windows tinted on my ride when I drive in it
    So when I rob a bank, run out and just dive in it
    So I'll be disguised in it
    and if anybody identifies the guy in it
    I'll hide for five minutes
    Come back, shoot the eyewitness
    Fire at the private eye hired to pry in my business"
    Em is absolutely cooking at the beginning of that 3rd verse. He makes that rhyme scheme flow just perfectly as his energy and aggression is building steadily as he paints a wildly vivid picture in the process. Favorite part for sure.

    Gen Z can’t grasp the concept of ”But we have to cancel him! Cancel him!”. Can’t cancel someone who doesn’t give AF. He’s in the Rock n Roll hall of fame 😅🥳 Gen Z… you gotta chill. Watch his interviews. Look at his collaborations. Eminem is funny and shy. Slim was just what he needed at the time. And most Millennial understands why🥰
