Jamal, I'm a 71 yr ol' white guy that just loves your channel because of your love for the music I've loved for 50 yrs. Your appreciation for so many kinds of music makes me feel like we could have been good friends. I'm totally with you in the fact that music can soothe the savage beast in all of us. Peace brother.
It is a trip to see Jamel's reaction to the music that we lived. I'm also 71 and believe our Government keeps us apart, so they can continue to take what they want. This lyric is the best, You don't know me but you're my brother. Peace out.
Haha I graduated in '71 and next week I'll be 71! The music of the 60s and 70s is still a great joy and comfort to me, and I still feel 1965-1975 was the greatest 10-year span in popular music history. So many diverse sounds and styles, all hitting at the same time! Hey Jamal, another great song that celebrates music is David Crosby's "Music is Love" off his fantastic "If Only I Could Remember My Name" album. Neal Young is singing background on it with him.
You know Jamel, the best compliment that I can think to give you is that whenever I feel like I need my spirit uplifted, I come on here and watch a reaction of yours or two. Peace and love brother.
@Nancy Robertson My sister you speak the truth! Everyone is welcome with open arms, music will be the common denominator and makes all of us one thing, human beings.Like the title said "Listen To The Music". My sister be well and safe. Peace to you and yours.

The ones who aren’t getting the message are scared. Of what I’m not exactly sure. I was raised around a diverse mix of people and was never taught to fear people who didn’t look like me or sound like me. I’ve lived abroad and traveled. We’re all way more alike than different. Music unites and so does food. You’re doing good work here brother!
So true Pablo, I've always l to travel and was just to the UK for Christmas and the people were awesome. I met people from Australia to Malta and so many places. And I love new and different music.
Last night, The Doobie Brothers were (FINALLY!) inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. It is so fitting for you to honor this -- their first hit -- by imploring everyone to "Listen to the Music." Beautiful!!!
Well I would have a crush, especially since he's tall, and so am I, but now I am too old to actively crush. Mostly too tired, usually stuck in bed. But he brings me happiness everyday. Like today I watched Suite Judy Blue Eyes, 3 times. I might watch again tomorrow!
I was born in the right era....I got to enjoy 70s and 80s music. I was a child in the 70s but I still got to enjoy that music because of my older siblings. Yes there is a lot of hate in the world and that sucks. Of course they want others to be miserable....that’s why they say misery loves company. I don’t hate anyone. We are all human and all bleed the same color. I do believe that music unites us all.
Summer of 1973 and sitting in the John Deere going back and forth in the field with my Grandpa Paul playing fine tunes while going around and around while planting the rows of corn, soy bean, wheat, alfalpha for hay or just cultivating. Sure did make the time something unforgettable and filled with joy. He's now been gone for almost 30 years and the great memories of such moments come rushing back through this wonderful man loving the music we did. May God Bless and Keep you and your family to give such joy.
Bring everybody together and listen to this music. That was Saturday night except we were in a pasture or at the lake. Sorry you missed it in the'70's. You were born in exactly the right era. While you can't hear it live, you can discover this eras music anew and introduce a new generation to the wonderful music of my generation. Your timing is perfect.
Never can go wrong listening to the Doobie Bros! Different songs with different leads in different eras and they don't miss a stride. And Live you really get just how talented they are/were.
They still nail it in their live shows today, and you can tell just by watching them on stage that they still enjoy what they do. Pat Simmons, in particular, always seems to have this huge grin on his face, like he's just having the greatest and most fun night of his life every night. :)
@@ballyastrocade5672 Well said. I have seen them live though not in recent years. And Pat Simmons who would be lead talent in so many groups seems satisfied and fulfilled to be a significant cog in the wheel that is the Doobies. Good on him.
@@2zxodcfm I saw them just last year, and Simmons is still jumping around on stage and power-chording his way through "Dangerous" when they play it. You'd hardly guess the man is in his 70s! (Would that we could all have half his energy when *we* turn 70... :D ) I'm hoping to see them again later this year on their 50th Anniversary tour, since they'll have both Tom Johnston *and* Michael McDonald -- but of course, that all depends on the frickin' virus between now and then. :(
When I get really overwhelmed by things happening these days, I say, well let’s see what our friend Jamel is up to....always puts a smile on my face and brings down the anxiety! Thank you !!

After seeing all the insanity on tv and social media, I was looking for something happy on you tube and came across your channel. I've watched for 3 hours straight! You have made a heart broken 61 year old feel good again! Watching your reactions reminds me of when I first heard these songs back in the day. This one I will be sharing with others on fb and hopefully will have more people come and enjoy your videos. Thank you for sharing happiness!
Ahhhh! Another one has "seen the light" - the light of peace, love, and more importantly ... the light of "hope for this world" Welcome, sister, to the "Church of Jamel"
I be 62 myself and I feel exactly the same way. I’m reliving the greatest feeling when I discovered these new bands and went to their concerts. Thank you brother Jamel.
You need to do “All You Need is Love” by the Beatles, “Get Together“ by the Youngbloods and “Everyday People” by Sly and the Family Stone. Same message, different beat. This is my favorite reaction video ever. Just hit me where I live. Keep sending out that love Jamel, no matter what some may say.
Jemel, you are a treasure. A light through some ugly storms this year. You have touched so many just by listening to great music. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Keep up the love and we will, too ❤️
There’s a song from the 60s called “Get Together” by the Youngbloods that encompasses the hippie era of being united by the music like you just said. Smile on your brother, what the world needs now is love, sweet love ❤️ (that’s another song).
The more I listen to the music from my younger years the more I realize we grew up in the greatest generation of music! I didn't know it then but I appreciate it now!
Jamel, you weren’t born in the wrong era!! You, my brother were born and are doing what you were put here to do! As a part time musician and instrument builder, for me its all about the passion, love, & understanding we can bring to each other through beautiful ‘living’ music. Please do not stop doing this-positive caring and thoughtful music that makes you smile and dance, all together no matter the cultural background is what we ALL NEED, EVERYDAY!! Explore it all brother as there’s so much more to hear and enjoy, and it warms my heart beyond words to see another soul recognize it 💕
I haven't stopped smiling while watching how you are moved by this song. I feel the same way. Totally feel it. We need another 'real' Woodstock. Love and peace.
yeah the Tom Johnson key right there is that muted strum once you get that going on one of the songs like start out with an easy one like China Grove and next thing you know when you get that muted strum going the Tom Johnson stuff just comes so easily and fun.
OMG...... I’m 59 gonna be 60 in a month and YES!!! Your message is DEAD ON!!! Just found your channel and I can say I LOVE YOU AND YOUR MEASSAGE!! DAAAAAAAMNN PEOPLE!, listen to this MAN!! We all have to live together and let’s do it with MUSIC! Good music here!! Life was fun back in the day..... why do people have to make it so difficult theses days!?!?
Jamel, I have been watching your channel for a few months now and as soon as this song started I immediately realized what dawned on you moments later - This song is indeed what your channel is all about, and for a moment, this moment, you accomplished something I never thought was possible - You transcended the power of the music itself by letting your inner light shine. Together we are the catalyst, and the music is our connection. Keep doing what you do and being who you be, and we will keep coming together. Peace.
That's what makes this channel different from other reaction channels. Jamel has an inner light and when he really loves a song he can't help but let it show. Plus we LOVE it when the FRO comes out!!! Music was such a big part of the reason that the late 60s and the 70s were about PEACE--people of all colors dancing to the same music!
“Give me the beat boy and free my soul. I want to get lost in your rock and roll and drift away”. Dobie Grey. Another good song in this vein is Paul Nc Cartney’s Silly Love Song. It has been much derided but I think it holds up.
I love watching Jamel reacting to the music of my teen years, the awesome time that was the 1970's. Listen to the music!! How long will it take for us all just to get along together. The message is there!
Priceless when he realizes I've heard this and it's ----- love it. You make my day, Emerson lake and Palmer, From the beginning, Lucky Man, Knife Edge. By the way, the afro looks good on you. Mine wasn't so curly, but I am a white boy. Thanks again
Yes Jamel, perhaps ELP (Emerson, Lake and Palmer) are already on your future radar to react to but if not they should be! A big time musical act from the 1970's (mainly)! You seem to like the music that came from the "70's". You will not be disappointed.
Every time I'm like: just gonna watch one real quick, and every time this phone speaker doesn't do justice, so I stop and plug into a good speaker or headphones. Even for the songs I've known and loved for decades. And then I watch more. Soak in every chord, every bar, every beat, every note! Listen to every song like it's your first time, cherish every song like it's the last time you'll hear!
Jamel - I guarantee that sitting down and having a beer or three with you would be a blast!! I'll bring the brews (the good Canadian stuff), you supply the place! I would die without music! It keeps my soul happy, brings people together! Thanks for providing an outlet for us to come together! Peace & love man!
Re: "Born in the wrong era:" Exactly! "Why do you need new bands? Everyone knows rock attained perfection in 1974. It's a scientific fact." -Homer Simpson
Loved the music from the 60's-the harmonies, Motown-harmonies and dancing, the 70's-my heart's favorite era-the singer/songwriters-harmonies, everyone played an instrument. Have listened to the music of every decade-there's always something new, something to be learned and felt in your heart-I'm 65 now-with a head and heart full of songs-the fun never ends. It's the only way to relax, learn and grow. Listen to the music-you betcha Baby. PS-Check out the songs from the 30's and 40's-always something to appreciate.
This was off their 2nd album Toulouse Street (no MM yet) which was a wonderful release. I just found out the Doobie Brothers are going to be inducted into the Rock n Roll hall of fame this year Michael McDonald included!

Last night, The Doobie Brothers were (FINALLY!) inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. It is so fitting for you to honor this -- their first hit -- by imploring everyone to "Listen to the Music." Beautiful!!!
Way overdue!🥳🥂🍾🎶🎸
I officially have a mini crush on this man. Love his spirit. His wife is a lucky woman.
Okay. I confess. Me, too!
Yes ma'am me too and I'm old enough to be his Mama.
@@Teresia12 Ditto!
Well I would have a crush, especially since he's tall, and so am I, but now I am too old to actively crush. Mostly too tired, usually stuck in bed. But he brings me happiness everyday. Like today I watched Suite Judy Blue Eyes, 3 times. I might watch again tomorrow!
Me too 🙋🏻♀️
I was born in the right era....I got to enjoy 70s and 80s music.
Timeless lyrics from one of the greatest bands ! Doobie Brothers still Rock!
"What the people need is a way to make them smile." There's your motto, Jamel. We need the joy of music now more than ever!
I don't know why, but Chicago: "Saturday in the Park" evokes some of the same beautiful vibes as this....check it out, brother...
Yeah, same emotion..good observation..☝️
He already did! ruclips.net/video/K9ueyCtOUa8/видео.html
The best Chicago tune with this message is "Listen" (1st LP, can't remember what 45 it's a b-side of)
YES IT DOES!!!!! Bang On brotha!
"people talkin, people laughin, a real celebration....singing for US ALL"
Summer of 1973 and sitting in the John Deere going back and forth in the field with my Grandpa Paul playing fine tunes while going around and around while planting the rows of corn, soy bean, wheat, alfalpha for hay or just cultivating. Sure did make the time something unforgettable and filled with joy. He's now been gone for almost 30 years and the great memories of such moments come rushing back through this wonderful man loving the music we did. May God Bless and Keep you and your family to give such joy.
“Welcome to the world of throwbackness” LOVE IT. Let the music play.
Jamel=Great Human. Even before you stopped the first time I had a tear forming knowing where you were going. Peace out from Alberta.
🙏🏾
Along the same lines (impact of music)... Dobie Gray “Drift Away” although slower you will love it 😍
Bring everybody together and listen to this music.
@@ballyastrocade5672 I just turned 70 and have a problem bench pressing a QTip. So, I gain hope from this story!
@@2zxodcfm LOL....you go, Ron!
The 70s was the best time ever, I was a teen, and it was a teenage escapists dream. 💓 the Doobies, and your message too.
When I get really overwhelmed by things happening these days, I say, well let’s see what our friend Jamel is up to....always puts a smile on my face and brings down the anxiety! Thank you !!
"On this channel we don't just listen to the music. We FEEL it!!!"
We love you and the goodness you bring into our lives through music. One of my many favorite songs.
I could "listen" to this song a million times in a row and it will never tire. When it comes up on the radio the volume goes MAX!
Another great "message" song is Sly & The Family Stone - "Everyday People." You should check it out. This one, by the way, was really great! Thanks!!
Yes! and also Stand by Sly & the Family Stone!
Oh yeah! Great choice!
“Everybody is a Star” is another great one.
I keep suggesting “You Can Make It If You Try.”
Also "Thank You" and "Hot Fun in the Summertime".
As soon as I saw Jamal had done this song I knew he was gonna get a charge out of it.
This IS his message.
I am a techno and house music producer and I have to say the doobie brothers have to be in the top 5 greatest ever
Would love to know your TOP 5 list!
My top 5 is1 Rush 2Pink Floyd 3 the Beatles 4 Black Sabbath 5 Deep Purple
Want to B2B Jamel's get-together playing all the songs he wants played to keep people dancing?
@@auntytutu idk its tough. I like diff sounds. But the doobie brothers omg. I like led zeppelin, herb Alpert, roy Ayers, danny Tenaglia, the stones, stevie Nicks, queen. Stevie wonder, lou Rawls, teena marie There are too many and too much diversity in my sonic jedi knight status. My defense is just as good as my offense. You cant put a finger on me
For real Jamel I was thinking this should be your theme song cause this is what you bring to us. Thanks for what you do!!
I agree! (If he doesn't get a copyright strike. 😳)
Your message is loud and clear! I just hope that more people everywhere would just take the time to” listen to the music! ❤️
His channel is a bright spot that never fails to lift my spirits a little. Glad you've found it! 😊
Noreen Phelps Amen!
@Noreen Phelps Same for this 51 year old! 🤙❤😁🙏
Ahhhh! Another one has "seen the light" - the light of peace, love, and more importantly ... the light of "hope for this world"
Welcome, sister, to the "Church of Jamel"
I be 62 myself and I feel exactly the same way.
I’m reliving the greatest feeling when I discovered these new bands and went to their concerts.
Thank you brother Jamel.
You need to do “All You Need is Love” by the Beatles, “Get Together“ by the Youngbloods and “Everyday People” by Sly and the Family Stone. Same message, different beat.
This is my favorite reaction video ever. Just hit me where I live. Keep sending out that love Jamel, no matter what some may say.
Oh, Everyday People is a great old song! Going back to even another decade, the late 60s. I think you would really like that one, Jamel.
England Dan and John Ford Coley Love is the answer
Oh Get Together is a great one! “Smile On Your Brother!”
Beautiful choices 👍
Magic Power by Triumph is very positive too
Jemel, you are a treasure.
Smile on your brother, what the world needs now is love, sweet love ❤️ (that’s another song).
ker bear Yeah Jamel needs to do this song
Jamel play United we stand, divided we fall by Brotherhood of man.
Yes, yes!
YES, YES, YES! 🎶" Come on people now,...smile on your brother, everybody get together,...try to love one another right now"🎶 😍✌
Michael Smith 👏👏👏
Having everybody get together and listening to music and dancing would be a part of Heaven .
Amen to that

@@rstrid5505 Just listened to the song . Loved it . Thank you for letting me know.
Tom Johnston's voice !!!!! Absolutely the Best !!!! So Perfect!!!!! So Recognizable !!!!!!
"Why can't we all live together?" Like in "Why can't we be friends" by WAR. Love the thought of it. I long for peace and stability.
There's nobody else like Tom Johnston who can take simple guitar chord progressions and turn it into a rock masterpiece.
yeah the Tom Johnson key right there is that muted strum once you get that going on one of the songs like start out with an easy one like China Grove and next thing you know when you get that muted strum going the Tom Johnson stuff just comes so easily and fun.
It’s all about feel, Many alleged guitar virtuosos like Eddie Van Halen could never groove like this.
Hallelujah!!!!
@@truckerkevthepaidtourist Yes, fun to play, but I'm still amazed how these songs all have the magic, can't teach that.
@@dickcnormous4202 Exactly, it doesn't have to be fast and loud to be great, Johnston just knew how to write the perfect groove.
Peace.
Thank You🙏🏾
Truth
That's what makes this channel different from other reaction channels. Jamel has an inner light and when he really loves a song he can't help but let it show.
Plus we LOVE it when the FRO comes out!!!
Music was such a big part of the reason that the late 60s and the 70s were about PEACE--people of all colors dancing to the same music!
For a "throw back" song, it couldn't be more timely for our present time. Thank you Jamal.
Good song. Can we listen to Otis Redding "Sitting on the Dock of the Bay?" Thanks. Yes music unites!
“Give me the beat boy and free my soul. I want to get lost in your rock and roll and drift away”. Dobie Grey. Another good song in this vein is Paul Nc Cartney’s Silly Love Song. It has been much derided but I think it holds up.
I love that song. Dobie grey rocks it
@Russell Reeves YES! Awesome bass line! I have to hum it out whenever I hear that song. 👍
Anyone who gave this a thumbs down needs to lighten up and smile.
Yeah, no doubt
21 lost souls who will never enter the Mothership
They need to listen to the music.
The thumbs down are actually given by Australians who desperately try to give a 'thumb up'...🙃
I love watching Jamel reacting to the music of my teen years, the awesome time that was the 1970's.
We're all funky together.
Yes Jamel, perhaps ELP (Emerson, Lake and Palmer) are already on your future radar to react to but if not they should be! A big time musical act from the 1970's (mainly)! You seem to like the music that came from the "70's". You will not be disappointed.
With the wig, Jamel has a strong resemblance to 1970's era Billy Preston. Love the videos!
I see it 😂
"That's the way God planned it. That's the way God want's it to be." :)
Billy = 5th Beatle
True story. I started listening to his channel thinking he was the best friend from "Get Out"😅
@@gness4782 I CAN SEE THAT BUT JAMAL IS REALLY TALL AND NOT FAT LIKE THAT GUY.
And you, Jamel are making people happy while they sing and listen to the music! Music is a way to bring us all together.
The “2020 Rocking Roll Hall of Fame” Doobie Brothers! Rock on! ✌️
Well overdue. Better late than never
Every time I'm like: just gonna watch one real quick, and every time this phone speaker doesn't do justice, so I stop and plug into a good speaker or headphones. Even for the songs I've known and loved for decades. And then I watch more. Soak in every chord, every bar, every beat, every note! Listen to every song like it's your first time, cherish every song like it's the last time you'll hear!
This song always makes me happy when I hear it. Every country has their own national anthem, this song should be the anthem for the world.
It doesn’t matter what your hair looks like Jamel, we see you my friend, we see you. 👍🏾
Perfect song, perfect message and a perfect reaction.
Re: "Born in the wrong era:"
Exactly! "Why do you need new bands? Everyone knows rock attained perfection in 1974. It's a scientific fact." -Homer Simpson
There is so much truth in that statement lol.
😂 not enough synthesizer work
I would say 1976 myself
1973 for me. (I'm biased - that's the year I was born!)
@@StreetHierarchy Gary Wright was one of the pioneers , in my opinion , was one of the best .
Along the same lines, Three Dog Night, "Celebrate (Dance To The Music"
I so LOVE how you dress for the "occasion". So fun!
Brother you can't go wrong listening to the Doobie Brothers. I love your channel man and your love of the music that I listened to in the seventies warms my heart. Peace Brother
Seeing Jamel gettin' down and funky is cool but....what you said about getting us together in a room..playing 70s music and dancing is priceless man. Much love brother!!!!
This is a uniting anthem, it captures everything great about the human experience x
👍You Can't be in a Bad Mood when this Song is Playing!!Thanks, Peace and Love to all the World...Please Pass it On!!
Your mugs should say "Music unites, Damn IT!"
Sir. Watching you react to the music of my era makes my heart jump. This is indicative of the feelings we all had. But, you got to pick out the fro bro. heheh. I had a fro, and I'm white! I carried a pick...heheh... On a side note, Skunk Baxter was a session musician and played for both Steely Dan and the Doobie Brothers... back in the seventies there was a genuine affection going on through the music. You were born too late. you have the spirit we all shared. Bless you Jamel. With all the strife, we have today I almost forgot my heart. You bring that joy back. Many Thanks.
I've been playing in the same band for 35 years and every night I play, people have an awesome time. We're not the greatest musicians, but we work well together and you're right...music unites people.
The memories alone, where worth every second of the seventys.
When that started to play, I got chills and a flood of memories came back in my head!
When this first came out way back in the day I was hooked IMMEDIATELY!
Thank you so much, Jamal. You lighten my spirit, young man, and help me remember how much joy there is in the music of my childhood. I go from sorrow to gratitude in the first minute of playing your videos. Thank you!
This made me so proud to be your subscriber. You are an "Old Soul" and I'm thankful you born when you were so you can Take Us Back There.
Music has no color boundaries. It transcends all cultures and time. I'm glad I was born in 1957 because I grew up un a transitional generation which included the best music ever! Thanks for bringing me down memory lane. It's a great trip. No one should miss it.
the best part of your reactions are usually at the beginning when you instantly recognize the song and your face lights up like you are now enlightened! now you are finding out the faces to go with the tunes. i would say that we didn't know how good we had it in the 60's and 70's but i'd be lying. i knew it then and now!
Always loved this song, a true classic.
This dance party brought me joy! Thank you for your message!! i grew up with a mother who always had LPs on the stereo, heavy on Sly, Doobies, Creedance, Marvin and Aretha, My first concert was Boz Scaggs in 1977. I'm grateful for that education every day! Much love & peace to you.
Jamel: You need to do the song: "Why Can't We Be Friends" by WAR
Yes
YES, YES! And "Cisco Kid"! 🎶🎵🎶🙌
I think he knows this song. But War is a great band, so many good songs!
Also needs to react to "Lowrider"
I wish he would play that song too. ❤️🎶
