    I recently bought 4 of these clamps… So far, so good… I’ve used them several times clamping up a sandwich of several pieces of wood while making bandsaw boxes and they’ve been great… I also have a few of the 300lb dewalt trigger clamps which work very nicely at 6 times the price…

    I have these same exact clamps, I have used them and HAMMERED on them and they are awesome. I find it very odd that you have 2 and both failed... hmmm I smell a rat

      Ihave 6-8 of these and at least 3-4 of them slip or do not ratchet. I've got 6 of the blue irwin 8" clamps with the yellow pads and they work much better even though I've had them longer. I only use these if the irwins are too small and a lot of times I just use larger f clamps instead of these even though they're more cumbersome to use.

      sabotage my ass. i bought four of these last year and 2 of them slip like crazy and hold zero clamping force. it's not "sabotage" you dumb fuck, it's shit quality control. imagine being so braindead that thinking just because you happened to get two that work (or so you claim), anyone else who gets a shitty one must be lying.

      Exactly. He basically accidently told on himself that it was a set up before he tested out the second one, lol. Either that or he's clairvoyant 😆

    I tested all 4 that I purchased at the store b/4 buying. They were fine .
    The Irwin or yellow brand are a little nicer to use, like driving a Caddy vs Chevy, but cost is 1/4. I now have 4 each.

    I bought the 4” version today. They’re not meant for heavy duty projects but they do work. I bought them to hold down my knitting machine while I work. If you want something to hold some heavy duty, wood and cut, and you need to spend a little more money.

    I bought 2 each of the 36 inch size ...works great $6.99 each way better than $34 each at steins and home depot..use them to clamp together wood before gluing and nailing with a nail gun.not made to pull vehicles with😂

    the ones i have something breaks inside by the handle. you can pump as much as you want and it won't get tight.

    Thanks for the heads-up. As with ALL Harbor Freight tools, I always check out the reviews. I have (2) of the same clamps that I have had for about (3) years, one of which I broke last year. If I can, I test certain items out in store. It just goes to show- you get what you pay for. On the other hand, I bought a $ 20.00 reciprocating saw to cut scrap metal. The original blades are garbage, but as for the saw, like a limp dick, "You just can't beat it!!!" PEACE

    Those that I bought did not snap the stationary end. The squeeze mechanism gave out and fell apart.

  • @frogmandave1

    The heavy duty ones won't break like that. Spend a little extra for the orange ones.

  • @luvmonkey666

    Not really sure on how these are spreaders. Knocked the retaining pin out to slide the trigger clamp off so I could turn it around and use it as a spreader and the internal mechanism of the clamp broke or something cause it’s not wanting to slide back together.

  • @Kairenovations

    I own a couple of these clamps and they have never snapped on me like that harbor freight sometimes changes models of A certain product same item I just different model maybe you got a bad model or even a bad batch

    • @Mixwell1983
      @Mixwell1983 6 лет назад

      Aaron Golden i agree, i have a couple and i squeeze em down by hand. I think there was a shitty production run maybe. Mine work well.

  • @Mixwell1983
    @Mixwell1983 6 лет назад +1

    Sounds like you got a bad batch. I have a couple of these and they work great.. They are light duty clamps so i dont death grip them but i do similar to you and mine are ok. I make sure not to apply too much pressure and if i need more clamp pressure i use the F style clamps. So ur vid was from 2015 and its 2018 and mine seem okay so again maybe it was a shitty batch?

  • @hindflight
    @hindflight 8 лет назад +2

    I guess they're counting on the fact that the clamps are so cheap people won't bother returning them. I got a mini clamp for one dollar at the parking lot sale.. we will see how it holds. The release trigger doesn't work well already.

    These are hobby clamps. Great for model building not wood working. I personally own these in various lengths. For my woodworking I use a different set all together not these less expensive ones.

    • @Mixwell1983

      Thomas Puckett dude i watched his video and it was like he over tightened the clamps by hand. I think he got a shit batch bc mine havent failed and if u want a stronger clamo buy an F clamp.
      I think he bought a batch of shity clamps in my opinion. But you know what they say about opinions

    This style of clamp if not meant for high amounts of pressure. They are meant to be as another set of hands. If you want something that is going to really put the squeeze on something you need to buy the F style with the “screw” handle. Granted it would be nice if these didn’t break but you spent a dollar and didn’t use the tool as intended. So who is really to blame here?

    • @Mixwell1983
      @Mixwell1983 6 лет назад +1

      Tough Tool Reviews i agree but it doesnt look like too much pressure. Ive pressed about as much as the poster with no issue. I really think it was a bad production run.
      In reality you shouldnt be able to break it by hand force. I agree u want more clamp pressure use and F clamp but for it to pop from grip pressure is suspect to me.

    Had the same experience. They’re garbage. HF isn’t always known for their quality but this piece of crap really did surprise me.
    The F-style bar clamps (not ratcheting) are often on sale for a few bucks and are quite good actually.

    I had to come back and call BS on this video. First time I saw this I had just bought these clamps and wanted to learn their proper use, especially the spreader part. I’ve now had them for a couple of months and used them practically daily and they have performed solidly. Therefore this demo is BS, IMHO.

    The smaller clamp for $1.42 is no better. Though mine did not break they will not clamp with any genuine tightness to be useful. Piece of junk!

    Chinese engineering is somewhat of a crap shoot. Our liability laws make things more expensive but also safer and better quality. But I'm generalizing here.

    Harbor Freight I believe is a very reputed brand. It is very disappointing to see this experienced by a customer. I wonder how could such a useless product come out in the market?
