  • Here's a short video about "Quick Clamps" , these are available from Bunnings here in Australia ( see their website - www.bunnings.com.au/ ) plus a variety of other hardware stores here in Australia too ; In this case - 1 of my 2 original clamps had failed so I opened it up to see as to what "was" wrong with it , after an inspection - all I needed to do was fix the broken release mech & "bingo" - all done! ; I hope that someone is able to make use of this info in my video to repair 1 that you might have at home.
That "annoying" rattling noise in the recording is the camera "trying" to keep the focus correct , NOT my voice being "annoying" as I was once told it was.....

Currently one of the only videos showing the issue with these style clamps when they get warn out. This helped me understand how to fix my DeWalt XL trigger clamp, thank you!

    That noise... why?

Unfortunately the "background clicking noise" is that of my camera's auto focus stepper motor working ( Fuji photo camera ) & it buggs me heaps , but , I can't do anything about it so I just have to put up with it unless I use my JVC video camera instead which I usually use for the majority of my videos however the JVC camera had a full SD card that day & the Fuji camera had a fairly new SD card in it , so I used that one instead for this video that day.

So, it was clearly broken but did the break prevent it releasing, or prevent it tightening? I have one, there's no internal damage but it just won't clamp. It gets up close but refuses to tighten.

Hi Barrie , mine didn't want to clamp up so I took it apart & found the issue & now it works like almost new or as well as can be expected for a clamp like that as they're not as strong as a G clamp is.

Thanks for the vid mate. Shout out from newy in nsw, wherever you are in the sunburnt country. True the clicking is a bit distracting eh. I dont see why some comments have to be rude though. Really fellow commentators, if you dont like it, fine, but it doesn't mean you have to be a dickhead does it. 👍

Thanks mate , I like your comment to all of those others out there who make bad comments on other people's videos , I know that the clicking noise is "crap" & I can't stand it myself but there's nothing that I can do about it so as long as people are enjoying my videos - that's what matters the most to me ; I'm located in Perth W.A. but came from N.S.W. originally.

I'm watching so i can see whether it makes sense to try designing my own 3d printed with nylon around a 15mm aluminum extrusion, without owning one myself. only good video on the internet about the insides of these surprisingly.

so once the two steel clamping plates rotate a bit they interfere with the bar and push it along at that inside corner. neat.

    • @Taygetea

that's a problem for my concept because while the 15mm square aluminum would be strong enough, those plates probably have to be steel, and one side of the bar is going to be completely covered in dents in short order. and the mechanism looks really sensitive to the size and shape of the plate, so beefing it up to be made of the same material as the bar would be a lot of trial and error.

Thank you , I'm glad to be of service to those out there who need it ; I hope that you have a lot of success in whatever you get to do.

Great fix, I have the exact same clamp I think, and it is worn out, I'll try to fix it with 4mm piece of plastic.

What's that damn clicking in the background?

    • @Locoman3801
      @Locoman3801  6 месяцев назад

Someone else has also asked the same question before & unfortunately it's the "Auto focus" mech of that camera & I can't stop the noise from happening as that camera needs to be repaired & I can't get access to the setting that turns the auto focus off & I wasn't able to use the normal video camera for this particular video at that time when I needed it back then ; I hope that this helps??? ; don't worry - I can't stand the noise either.

What is that annoying clicking? Hard to decide which is worse, the clicking or his cockney voice.

Sorry Brian , I don't mean to have a "crappy" voice that bugs you & it's not a Cockney voice either - it's mostly an Aussie voice as I'm an Aussie from birth ; However , that "crappy clicking" sound in the background is that of the camera's auto focus which I can't seem to get rid of ( & the sound bugs me too ) & as it's a Fuji photo camera which also does video as well so It'd be great to silence that sound from any video work that I do on that camera ; I usually do all of my videos on a JVC Everio camera but that day I wasn't able to use the JVC camera so the Fuji camera had to do for that video ; I just hope that you've learned something from this??
