Fixing clamps that won't clamp

  • I've got old clamps that both the bar and the arm have smoothed over and won't clamp any more. Sometimes cheap clamps just haven't been made precise enough to work well or the quality control is bad. In any case here's a quick and dirty method that just plain works and fixes the problem fast.

    Thank you! Last night I tried a half dozen of my bar clamps and all of them slipped. I will rescue them from the trash now, thanks to your ideas.

    Good advise. I`ve got some Clamps to fix. I have them from my father, who was a Master Carpenter. As he passes away last year, i got tools they might be 60 or 70 yeary old. Thank you, and i apologize for my school english.
