    The 1/2 drive set is supposed to be paired with the 3/8 drive set, then all the sizes will be complete. A lot of people complain about missing sizes without realizing HF's 'master plan'.

      I really want to recommend the AKM TOOL Impact Swivel Sockets 3/8". It comes with 20 pieces, along with adapters and extension bars. The cost performance is excellent.

    I have seen that Pittsburgh Pro Impact Quality sockets and extensions are being made with Chrome-Moly.
    Chrome-Vanadium is being phased out. Makes very good business sense, especially when competing against premium brands.

    Thanks for the review. I need to add these to my collection. Seems like I run into 14, 15, 18, and 21 alot with GM brakes and suspension and grab a wobble extension or universal adapter frequently. For the smaller sizes, 3/8 drive is probably the way to go.

      Yes these are okay they're not the best out there but there are a lot cheaper than a professional brand and seem to be durable enough for what Harbor Freight is charging. Yes it's so odd GM uses those strange sizes I'm so used to Japanese cars that never use those sizes

      Yea.....30 bucks a rack is chump change. Forgotten after one job. That's what's nice about HF. After a good workout, you discover if you really need pro grade and what features to look for. On the other hand, HF does great and you put off or never upgrade.

    Oh.....that is why I saw some of the sets with missing units....now that explains that...thanks.

    They are 1/2 inch, so not having a 10 mm is not bad. My Tahoe and Saturn have a lot of 13s, 15s and 16s, so those are important to me. I also need the 17, 18 and 19. Thanks for the review.

    • @CatusMaximus
      @CatusMaximus  6 лет назад +1

      Thank you for the comment, I did not realize those Vehicles use those sizes. It really shows that you need metric sockets by the millimeter to really have a comprehensive set.

    ye.. Where I live in Europe, I work in the industry environment and the "normal" bolt sizes are ... 10, 13, 17, 19, 24, 30, 32... Most pipe flanges etc are often 17, 19, 24 and 30... of course big machines use bigger fasteners, but smaller than 13 are for like electricians..

    I had saw a lot of reviews with the spring breaking and the pin coming out on the older ones. Have these improved?

    • @CatusMaximus
      @CatusMaximus  5 лет назад

      They seem to be okay but I have not use them as heavily as some people do in a commercial shop

    3/8ths or half inch on the swivels? Which one is more necessary?

    • @RyfusFox
      @RyfusFox 4 года назад

      I'm going to say 1/2 drive would be the one you would want more than the other. But then again, it depends on what you're using it on. I need my 18mm swivel more than anything while replacing tow links on Explorers.

    Why would you need 12 or 10? It’s 1/2. For bolts that small I use my 3/8

    • @CatusMaximus
      @CatusMaximus  5 лет назад +2

      I agree however sometimes you're working on certain types of equipment or Machinery which has some very highly torqued or very stuck fasteners and in that case you might want to half inch

    They need to do 2 things to these, make them out of heavy material and ditch the spring retainer.

    A 15mm impact swivel is weird to you?

    • @CatusMaximus
      @CatusMaximus  5 лет назад +3

      If you primarily work on Japanese Vehicles then yes 15 + 18 + 16 + 13 are not very common at all

      If You Work on GM 15mm , 18mm , 19mm Are A Must .

  • @dillwiggle2

    Too bad their Cr-V & not Cr-Mo
    A lot of brands skip 10, 11, 12mm on there 1/2" impacts. 15mm is one of the most common sizes.

    • @CatusMaximus
      @CatusMaximus  6 лет назад

      I find it strange that they are Vanadium as well because I always thought that was more expensive than molybdenum Steel.

      A 3/8 standard can be used for 10mm and a 7/16 for a 11mm my guess is the same set has these

  • @class8garage308
    @class8garage308 4 года назад

    kind of useless set need to start with 8mm and have every numerical up to 22 mm hate it when they skip sizes, same with sae always hard to see 19/32" socket

  • @EvendimataE

    why not just buy regulr sockets and get universal adapter?

    • @CatusMaximus
      @CatusMaximus  6 лет назад +3

      That would work excellent it's just more convenient when they're integrated into a smaller compact unit like these

    • @AK74Man87
      @AK74Man87 5 лет назад

      EvendimataE Just like he said, you can take a shallow socket and a universal but it would be longer than these. Plus they are separate so if you need multiple sizes at once it would be a pain.
