The Action 5 Pro is seriously impressive with its natural colors at 9:35, then 9:40 I think it's better white balance, and deeper dark tones, less distortion. it's epic and really shows off the difference. But I'll wait for your full comparison, thank you!
Yes true gopro has some features which makes it a very good choice. One of the feature no one talks about is the timecode. Gopro does capture it, dont know about dji. When motovlogging using two more gopros. Timecode is a game changer. With few clicks premiere pro will automatically sync all the clips perfectly linedup using timecode, which is a huge time saver. Its a feature that is used by pros using external timecode device. The caution though, it is only helpful when timecode for all gopro's is in sync. It capture using time. So manually setting the time will not work. Gopro's has to be connected to a phone once only to sync the time. This makes sure all the gopro have same time. Update: Gopro have tutorial on this, its uses QR code.
Nice review and seeing non sponsored. Too many seemed biased in favor of DJI which seem paid for. Question. Ive been concerned about DJI which ive been leaning towards. It doesnt have a play store app and ive heard the emo apk download from their website seems a security risk. Curous if you or any other viewers have any comments on this if you have android. Thanks
I thought the DJI Action 5 Pro was the action camera I have been waiting for to finally replace my GoPro. It's low light abilities is what I have been asking GoPro for, but with no results. However, after watching many videos on the Action 5, it's low bitrate and reports of poor image quality have pushed me away from it. Image quality is more important to me than battery life.
Image quality is always number 1 for me too. I am doing more testing comparing not only the two here but also the Action 4 and the Ace Pro. I also hope DJI fixes the low bitrate problem which is causing most of the bad reviews.
My 10 cent thoughts. It depends. MTB, skydiving, surfing = GoPro. Motovlog, scuba diving, hiking = DJI. Vlog, cooking, night walk = ace pro Jogging, running, POV = insta go
Yep, so the only thing that was good about the GoPro that actually ships with the camera is a feature they already removed and just put back in. This is not a good showing for GoPro. It's the only camera I've owned since the five but it's looking more and more like my money will be going to someone else next year. The only reason I bought the 13 this year is because they renewed my subscription on an expired credit card which I wasn't expecting so I sold my 11 and it only cost me about 75 bucks to get the 13. Next year I will be looking at a different camera.
I think DJI forgets this is an action camera that will be used mainly during the day. I don’t care much about low light quality or subject tracking. Important to an action cameras are high resolution such as 5k, lens accessories and battery life. GoPro excels in these categories except that you get battery juice from Action 5 pro compared to GoPro. GoPro is the way to go for me. However, I think Action 6 pro will nail it next time.
DJI seems to be making the OA5 a great camera but in certain scenarios it fails as a Pro Action Camera. We film boating safety videos and the OA4 failed to maintain a level horizon when rigged directly to a power boat. The OA5 appears to be failing as miserably. We believe it’s a faulty IMU implementation that has been present since the OA3 being over sensitive to engine vibrations. We’ve been using Hero 12 cameras simply because they work better in action camera scenarios. We’ll be testing the Hero 13 later this month. It’s unfortunate because DJI made the OA5 a great camera. They needed to stay true to the Original Osmo Action’s rugged reliability.
Yes, you'll look for the Pro in vain. The Action5 didn't make it and the Ace Pro2 won't be able to match the quality of the GoPro either. The pictures from the Action5 in particular look flat and colorless. Faces and highlights look muddy. Ultimately, the quality is worse than that of a Hero5. Of course, these cameras have a larger sensor, but larger doesn't mean higher quality or better. Personally, I expected more from the Action5 and will be returning it.
It's so cool that I'm sure the competitors gonna imitate that features in the next iterations. The interchangeable lens features..maybe if it's got tons of sales. Because it's more for advanced users, not just one push button and you get good result kind of user
Nice overview of the two cameras. Hopefully, we'll see some price drops for the holidays because those GoPro accessories are just too expensive. I also think that GoPro could have included a magnetic mount with the purchase on the basic kit. Anyway, looking forward to your comparisons of the video.
100% agree on the magnetic mounts being included. At least one of them for sure. As for the other accessories I've been using the discount provided with their subscription. Not perfect, but it's something. Also, after a while some others will be making compatible accessories.
It's an action camera, the most important thing about an action camera is the stabilizer and it must be tested in action Neither GOPRO13 nor DJI Action 5 came with major improvements. The Gopro stabilizer is still above DJI.
I haven't finished the video yet but so far all of the benefits of the GoPro cost more money. Are there any benefits that actually ship with the camera? I don't want to spend $1,000 to make the GoPro better than the $400 camera it's competing against...
The GoPro has the smallest sensor and maintains a very good image. Now I imagine a larger sensor with a new processor, I would say that the competition would be very close. 🤞
I had several Gopros and they are 100% unreliable ! All of them had issues and I ended up losing some of the best sports clips of my life that I would never be able to repeat again ! Bought a DJI Osmo action and never had one issue ! Never buying a Gopro again ! Also never knew someone who bought a Dji and went back to Gopros after... Crap product

Good stuff. Thanks Ryan!

I'd agree...the timecode feature is very nice. But I normally sync using audio in DaVinci Resolve.

Sorry, I don’t have any experience with that as I’m an iPhone user. But I also haven’t heard of the risk you mentioned

Makes sense. The biggest draw this year is the attachment lenses

Some great inputs and that's an interesting observation based on engine vibrations.
Thanks for the review! Did you find any issues with the low bitrate in action 5 pro?
I haven’t noticed it yet but I’m taking a look
@@JBonTECHit’s bad bro, just compare 4 with 5 and look the background details
@BraxChat on it!

Thanks for sharing...and I agree that the larger sensor doesn't automatically equal better images
Wow that’s pretty cool that the camera will tell you that the wrong filter is on. Perfect for a noob like me. Auto lens sense sounds awesome.
It’s a pretty good way to make sure you have the right settings! Thanks for watching 🙏🏻

Wow, I have watched your backpack reviews and now I see you review Action cameras too!
More to come! Just started this new channel to do a lot more!
I hear the GoPro heats up in less than an hour. Did you have this problem?
I have had no luck with the GoPro battery. Terrible battery life and overheating...especially compared to DJI
@ thank you for the feed back. I’m sold on the Action 5 pro!!

Totally agree on the stabilization. During mountain bike rides I’ve been happy with the results for quite a while from both
For me not having distortion is more important. So curious how it is.

gotcha...thanks was watching all the way through!

That’s my hope too!
Pause at 9:40 or so and look at the road surface or grass. The bitrate on Action 5 is too low.
Totally agree...rumor is a fix is coming for the low bitrate problem
Not sure why DJI thinks 4K 30p @ 60Mbit HEVC is "PRO"
At least it's a step in the "pro" direction?
great video thanks
You bet!
9:33 on motorcycle Dji produces a lot better image quality, no glaring.
Boom!
Thanks.
You're welcome
Very good review👍
Thank you! Cheers!

Good to know! But I also haven't had much luck with GoPro over the years
GoPro is slowly going the DoDo way.
They surely are lagging their competitors
