I have the x4, taken it scuba diving, cycling and skiing. All the points are true and valid. I fortunately only bought the accessories that you use, and agree things like bullet time are gimmicks you only use once. The magnetic backpack strap mount is fabulous. Insta360 accessories are expensive, but very impressive quality, so ultimately worth it.

Wait, the Gopro Hero 3 only shoots slow motion for 15 seconds? Or is that just at the max slowmotion frame rate? If thats so how long can it shoot for at 120 fps?

14:55 that piece of plastic is actually a heat shield of sorts for if you are holding the camera body I will admit I don’t really see the point in it, especially as they say that using it will actually cause the camera to heat up faster And my X4 nearly got damaged by an excavator at one point (i had put it on a tripod near the excavator)

Do you have to put the stick in your check in bag when you travel? I have the impression that TSA won’t allow it and they say you can use it as a weapon.

One thing I would add and two things I would alter; Whenever I use any stick I add a wrist strap with a screw that attaches to the selfie stick. Its dirt cheap and adds security to allow you to concentrate on the things you are filming. I would exchange the battery charger to a Charger Hub Box that charges two batteries at the same time and then can be popped in your bag whilst protecting your batteries. Lastly I use a Neewer Foldable Tripod as it lowers the centre of gravity and prevents many of the times the Inst360 has tipped over in light winds when connected to the companies twirly whirly thing. Any recommendations for a good tripod? The bullet time one is useless. The one and only time I used it as a tripod with the selfie stick, in blew over in a tiny breeze...very unstable! The height was just 2 feet. My X3 has both lenses damaged as a result.

Too verbose, repeat things unnecessarily, etc. You mention the essentials and then make exceptions. Didn't seem prepared or organized. 18 minutes could have been said in under 10 minutes.

I generally try and avoid Chinese tech products wherever possible but the Action 5 seems superior from most reviews I have read. Go Pro changing form factor of their battery is disappointing, as is the lack of additional features from the 12.

My 10 cent thoughts. It depends. MTB, skydiving, surfing = GoPro. Motovlog, scuba diving, hiking = DJI. Vlog, cooking, night walk = ace pro Jogging, running, POV = insta go

I had several Gopros and they are 100% unreliable ! All of them had issues and I ended up losing some of the best sports clips of my life that I would never be able to repeat again ! Bought a DJI Osmo action and never had one issue ! Never buying a Gopro again ! Also never knew someone who bought a Dji and went back to Gopros after... Crap product

What’s happens if you are with a group? Say you’re with your family and want a family shot. Will it still follow you even though there are multiple folks?

Why edit the sound? The mic option is the best feature in my opinion. I plug in my hollyland lark 1 into my phone and I’m ready to go. Also a DJI mic 2 will directly connect to the drone and sync the audio automatically. The built in software mutes the prop sound

I think DJI forgets this is an action camera that will be used mainly during the day. I don’t care much about low light quality or subject tracking. Important to an action cameras are high resolution such as 5k, lens accessories and battery life. GoPro excels in these categories except that you get battery juice from Action 5 pro compared to GoPro. GoPro is the way to go for me. However, I think Action 6 pro will nail it next time.

So I have always wanted to invest in a drone, I have ZERO experience. This seems like a good starting point, especially since I want to make simple content. Do you recommend this for a complete noob? Seems right up my alley. $289 for the upgrade seems like a good deal.

Can the macro lens replace the normal lens? I know it can focus to 11cm. But can it focus like 30cm to infinity?

Yep, so the only thing that was good about the GoPro that actually ships with the camera is a feature they already removed and just put back in. This is not a good showing for GoPro. It's the only camera I've owned since the five but it's looking more and more like my money will be going to someone else next year. The only reason I bought the 13 this year is because they renewed my subscription on an expired credit card which I wasn't expecting so I sold my 11 and it only cost me about 75 bucks to get the 13. Next year I will be looking at a different camera.

I haven't finished the video yet but so far all of the benefits of the GoPro cost more money. Are there any benefits that actually ship with the camera? I don't want to spend $1,000 to make the GoPro better than the $400 camera it's competing against...

DJI seems to be making the OA5 a great camera but in certain scenarios it fails as a Pro Action Camera. We film boating safety videos and the OA4 failed to maintain a level horizon when rigged directly to a power boat. The OA5 appears to be failing as miserably. We believe it’s a faulty IMU implementation that has been present since the OA3 being over sensitive to engine vibrations. We’ve been using Hero 12 cameras simply because they work better in action camera scenarios. We’ll be testing the Hero 13 later this month. It’s unfortunate because DJI made the OA5 a great camera. They needed to stay true to the Original Osmo Action’s rugged reliability.

The GoPro Macro Lens Mod works with HyperSmooth stabilization and maintains sharpness out to the corners. The third-party closeup filters degrade the stabilization and aren’t sharp at all in the corners. For what they are, they do a reasonable job, but there’s only so much you can do with one lens element versus the four in the GoPro Macro Lens Mod. Of course, the third party ones don’t have adjustable focus either so can’t be used for things like vlogging. Full disclosure: I work for GoPro

Yes, you'll look for the Pro in vain. The Action5 didn't make it and the Ace Pro2 won't be able to match the quality of the GoPro either. The pictures from the Action5 in particular look flat and colorless. Faces and highlights look muddy. Ultimately, the quality is worse than that of a Hero5. Of course, these cameras have a larger sensor, but larger doesn't mean higher quality or better. Personally, I expected more from the Action5 and will be returning it.

Yes true gopro has some features which makes it a very good choice. One of the feature no one talks about is the timecode. Gopro does capture it, dont know about dji. When motovlogging using two more gopros. Timecode is a game changer. With few clicks premiere pro will automatically sync all the clips perfectly linedup using timecode, which is a huge time saver. Its a feature that is used by pros using external timecode device. The caution though, it is only helpful when timecode for all gopro's is in sync. It capture using time. So manually setting the time will not work. Gopro's has to be connected to a phone once only to sync the time. This makes sure all the gopro have same time. Update: Gopro have tutorial on this, its uses QR code.

9:33 on motorcycle Dji produces a lot better image quality, no glaring.

I thought the DJI Action 5 Pro was the action camera I have been waiting for to finally replace my GoPro. It's low light abilities is what I have been asking GoPro for, but with no results. However, after watching many videos on the Action 5, it's low bitrate and reports of poor image quality have pushed me away from it. Image quality is more important to me than battery life.

The Action 5 Pro is seriously impressive with its natural colors at 9:35, then 9:40 I think it's better white balance, and deeper dark tones, less distortion. it's epic and really shows off the difference. But I'll wait for your full comparison, thank you!

Pause at 9:40 or so and look at the road surface or grass. The bitrate on Action 5 is too low.
