The Oz Park made me really sad until you informed me that it opens fricken annually. Had me in the first half, not gonna lie.
Now, to find a way to get to that park at an appropriate time and live out my childhood-
I feel the same way. Ever since Great Movie at Disney MGM closed, I've missed Oz terribly. ;u;

As fascinated as I am with abandoned places (especially theme parks), I always feel bad for them. Especially when there's neat animatronics and stuff left inside. :( Makes me wish things could've gone differently for them, y'know? They're artwork, after all.
I definitely wish there was some sort of overarching preservation fund/location though I know how much of a pipedream that is. But yeah seeing them just abandoned like that is awful.
A Yucky Rat, specifically for Western Village, one of the locomotives was left there until 2007, when it was 110 years old. It is now on display somewhere in poor cosmetic condition.
Really all abandoned theme parks stories can be summed up as
“Until the Disney theme parks attacked.”
Yeah, I feel the same way. I mean...I might have a different feeling. I feel bad for the abandoned animatronics and buildings because it just feels like a cemetary of dreams and hard work, and we're just watching decaying bodies in their coffins.
True, but just think how many DECADES these parks were able to stay open and bring joy to millions.

whats weird is that I stayed at Disney for 2 weeks back in 2017 and the resort we were staying at had a balcony. You could see the rotted water park from my window. I was creeped out.

Near my old house, there was a small theme park. It had a small roller coaster inside a Mount Rushmore replica. It was always closed. My mom said it was being renovated and would be done next month. That was five years ago. It’s still not open

Honestly I am kinda sad that river country is being knocked down, it’s been such a significant piece of theme park history and Disney lore (I’m not sure if that’s the right word here) that knocking it down feels weird, I mean this thing has had a ton of urban legends and even a creepypasta about it.
It’s hard to let something like that just get removed.

Just had another idea, there's a Flinstones theme park in Custer, South Dakota that is abandoned as well, I've been there since I was kid in 2005 on a family vacation. I miss that park like crazy. Nice job on this video!
It was a pretty cheap move however to have disney after mr Matsuo's dreams to open a theme park from disney,because when he discussed the subject with disney he refused at start.But after years when disney saw how good his dreamland was growing he just go there and opened one of his official parks.I think they stepped on his dream pretty harsh,and this happened after years when he would be a little more vulnerable because of the passing of the years to strike even better since nara would be considered pretty old.That's how you strike economically someone else i believe,as much as i love disney as well for the things they offered us over the years,still i find this pretty cheap as i said.

The pripyat amusement park is really interesting to me. Mostly the nuclear poweplant story. The fact that the explosion was 100x worse than Hiroshima and nagisaki (both explosions destroyed an entire town I believe) really makes you realize just how big it was. I'm not really sure why I'm so fascinated but yeah fsyfstsgttsy

At the start of the vlog, the word Nara appeared, my Grandmother kept saying that as Alzheimer's ate away at her brain. We assumed that it was a word in her native Slovak as she progressively switched between that and english, but I could not find it in the online dictionary. Would you happen to know what it means?
Apparently it was the capital of Japan from 710 to 794. It is still a tourist attraction though.

To give some rather ironic credit to the Japanese Western amusement park. Although it is sad that it closed down, it's also oddly the most accurate depiction of what happened a lot in the west during the gold Rush. Towns being built and then completely abandoned afterwords when the gold was declared gone. Is there anything more wild west like than a ghost town?

My Memaw actually used to work at the Oz theme park in NC when it was regularly open (I forgot what she did but I think she played Dorothy) and I tend to visit in the summer and she's been planning to take me to Oz when it's open
