I used to go to that waterpark with my cousins and grandparents during the summer time, and while it was a small park, it definitely held a lot of good memories for me! The yellow slide with the funnel? That slide had no supervision at all and the one time I went down on it, I almost drowned- its sad to see it old and abandoned now, but hopefully in the future it can be rebuilt. I live in Hamilton ON, not far from the abandoned Wet N Wild in Vineland. I drove by it recently and it's sad for me to see that they are building on that site and I can no longer share that magical place with anyone. I had a romantic anniversary picnic up at the top of that water slide with that magnificent view of Lake Ontario. There was a wonderful fishing location at the shore too. A decrepit concrete dock prefect for evening fires, fishing, beers and friends. I will forever hold on to these special memories, as they are all we have left of it now. Lets hope this new construction doesn't share the same unfortunate fiery curse.
Side note: they did reopen Wet N Wild but moved it to a new location along Lake Ontario, closer to Hamilton.

    • @thoughtengine

@@deborahjknight7442 If you're thinking River Country, admittedly the design was dangerous by modern standards, and had some ridiculous flaws. The real reason it shut down was that it was running out of customers (two new parks open? why not visit them instead?) and cost (it was so old, it was costing more to maintain than it was worth.)
The amoeba death was only one incident, which happened roughly twenty years before the park shut down.

Does anyone else get upset when they hear about the renevations or plans for renevations of these abandoned parks? As long as they're not a health hazard, having these spots that people can visit and look at whenever they want seems nice plus many people enjoy the atmosphere of abandoned locations

There actually was a sort of wet and wild here in Lockport Manitoba it was behind the skinners and got torn down in either 2018 or 2019 because it became a risk and people were vandalizing it and it was so old that it could have colapsed any moment it was closed early 2000s :)

It's cool to learn more about the park in California, cause I always see it on the way to and from Vegas. I've always wondered what the story was behind it. It seems like every time I go to Vegas there's less and less left of it. When I went in 2010 and 2015, the slides were still there and visible from the freeway, now it seems like only the structures that once supported the slides and a few of the buildings are still standing. Back in the day, I think there was even an episode of Jackass or maybe Rob and Big where they skateboarded down the abandoned slides. That was pretty neat

I grew up in Newberry springs, during the summer my dad would take me to Lake Delores, we didn't live that far from it. One day it was really hot and I asked my dad if we could go, I don't remember how old I was, but we went. When we got there, it was closed. We had no idea it closed down or went out of business, that was a very sad day in my childhood, I absolutely adored that place. And seeing her back in the limelight makes me so very happy. I just seen lake Delores n commented.

Sauco did a nice job with the intro. Gotta give credit for that. Anyway this video was so good. And I agree with the list. Action Park had a water park area but it is so dangerous it becomes death. That’s why it closed and re closed.
