When I see them abandoned I get this weird nostalgia, even though I'd never been to them. Like, I feel sad that they're abandoned and I want to go bring them all back to life and colour so they can live up to their full potential and create lots of happy memories again. Some of them had a good run, but some of them never got a chance. I would have loved to visit that Christmas themed park, and some of the others, too. I wonder if there's a way to save and restore any of them? Probably would take way too much money. Not to mention, I bet all of these places are haunted in some way or another. But still, it makes me sad! Theme parks should be lively and happy places.

The one in Louisiana, I passed it all the time while attending graduate school. It may look creepy, but the real danger is the criminal element that frequents it.
If you build it, they will come. Give us a year round, haunted creepy style park themed to silent hill. And people will enjoy it. All you have to do to keep things going is have different characters around the park switched in and out, and invest in a dark ride or two. When building up, easily have a "no-scare zone" for kids and like a day of the week with little scares for some people. Imagine a coaster themed to pyramid head. It could literally outdo the wickerman wooden coaster anyday truthfully, and that ride is super cool looking.
Holy land is actually being rebuilt and even when I visited it when it was abandoned multiple times (even once at night) it was more pretty than scary lol
I'm impressed that Lincoln Park in Massachusetts made this list. I grew up in Boston and every year our class trip was there! I have many fond memories!!
We visited late in its tenure (we lived closer, so we probably visit 3 to 4 time a year) and the park was so abandoned that we got to ride many of rides multiple times in a row. I think we did the roller coaster 15-20 time without stopping. We would come back into the loading/unloading platform and we just told the operator to hit the release button again to keep the ride going. Needless to say it was the best time we ever had, and were seriously nauseous after that trip.
I visited Dogpatch years ago - sometime in the 70's. I never saw the "folksy characters" at all. What I remember were the goat statues on the roofs and if you didn't put down your car visors, they would put a Dogpatch bumper sticker on your car. It wasn't all that great at that time. Very little there and quite boring. :/

IIRC, some sort of seriously dangerous bacteria (flesh-eating maybe?) is why they had to close that water park. Had to add this comment after seeing people going out on that island. They’re endangering themselves. I would rather visit Pripyat Park than that island myself!
basiclly a child who's about 7-8 years old got infected by a amoeba who probaly killed him, plus the island had many dangerous animals that roam free. Who knows if a alligtor will get provoked and tear out the limbs of the people visiting the water park? i think both the dangerous roaming free animal and the amoeba incident are the reasons why it closed
You forgot to mention that dadipark in belgium is also haunted. In the toiletbuilding you have a specific toilet that is locked but when you get close to it you can hear a loud banging noise on the door. When they finaly broke the door open you could clearly make out the bruises in the door and on the wall. Also, but i don't know for sure, i have heard some people say that you can see a boy dressed in white cloathing at midnight. Funfact: i am from belgium and i have lived there for about 3 months until i moved to another place.

I was womdering about the getting caught visiting Discovery Island part. What if you were kidnapped and smuggled there? Would that count as illegally visiting the forsaken site, which could put at stake your Disneh privileges?
I grew up 2 mi away from Lincoln Park it was on the Dartmouth/Westport town line in MA. That kids death WASN'T the first one on that roller coaster. It was called THE COMET & it was the 1st coaster I ever rode & my mom was the one that talked me into riding it. It was a slow night due to a very light attendance a light drizzling rain started...we rode it 6 times in a row in the front seat without having to get off. (We knew the guy running the ride, he dated my older sister for a while). After we got off my mom told me that sometime in the 30's or 40's there was another tragic accident on that coaster. The Comet was coming up to what's called the "out & back" of the coaster. The out & back is the horseshoe shaped part of the track that extends further out from the rest of the structure making a 180 degree turn. It's 1\2 way point through the ride. It's function is to provide the momentum needed for the coaster finish the last half of the ride. The COMET was just entering the into the "out & back" when it jumped the track and never made the turn. It shot straight through the "safety railing" which wasn't much more than 2x4's nailed to the coaster frame 5 high & 8-12 apart . The coaster plummeted about 75 ft to the parking lot below destroying bunch of park goers cars in the process. I believe that 14 or 15 people {adults & kids} died that day & more were badly injured. The REALLY CREEPY thing about this was that the owners dumped the wrecked coaster cars in a big pond way in back of the property hidden by somewhat thick undergrowth. If it was a hot summer with little rain the pond water would evaporate exposing most of the twisted coaster cars. To get to the pond you had to first know where it was because it was hidden out beyond the parking lot in the middle of the thick undergrowth of skinny trees mostly, about 20 - 25 ft tall. If my friends and I were at Lincoln Park & the conditions were right we'd go out there to see them. There is a RUclips music video featuring an old 8mm home movie of the park on a busy day titled, "GOOD OLE LINCOLN PARK" by a local guy named John Botelho. It shot straight through the "safety railing" which wasn't much more than 2x4's nailed to the coaster frame 5 high & 8-12 apart . The coaster plummeted about 75 ft to the parking lot below destroying bunch of park goers cars in the process. I believe that 14 or 15 people {adults & kids} died that day & more were badly injured. The REALLY CREEPY thing about this was that the owners dumped the wrecked coaster cars in a big pond way in back of the property hidden by somewhat thick undergrowth. If it was a hot summer with little rain the pond water would evaporate exposing most of the twisted coaster cars. To get to the pond you had to first know where it was because it was hidden out beyond the parking lot in the middle of the thick undergrowth of skinny trees mostly, about 20 - 25 ft tall. If my friends and I were at Lincoln Park & the conditions were right we'd go out there to see them. Places like these make me wish I were fabulously rich and could someone make them places of fun times again, even if I had to raze everything and make a whole different kind of place. Hard to believe Disney is letting real estate sit around unused.
Considering the way the country has been going since about 1960, I'm not surprised the Holy Land park is abandoned.
The woman "fused in a bubbling wall of flesh" is a figure of a woman in a bathtub, but it's been taken out of the tub and tipped up.
