True! I feel like this is where Floor was really truly debuted to the world as the voice of Nightwish. I mean, she'd already been touring with them, but the broad reach of this venue, plus these videos...
Given how much impact she's had on Nightwish and its fan base, I feel like this show was one of the biggest moments in Nightwish history, perhaps the most definitive and permanent markers of their style and flavor.

Funny story: tonight at work I asked most of my coworkers what their favorite bands were...and most of them told me about country bands, or some rappers...whatever, but one lady -- she's got to be pushing 70 -- said to me, "well, I think they're called Dark Chest of Wonders, or something like that...wow. The drummer sounds like he has 3 arms!" I raised my eyebrow a bit. "What genre of music? Sounds familiar..." She thought for a moment and said, "I think it's Swedish Black Metal, but I'm not sure. You should check them out." Obviously a bit off with the names and genre, but seriously, how awesome is it for a 70 year old to be rocking out to Nightwish? :)

I never really wrote a comment about the many singers of Nightwish, but such comments are all I've been seeing since Floor joined the band, so I'm going to give my 2 cents and simply stop reading Nightwish comments altogether.
All three singers stand on equal grounds for me, but my personal favourite is Floor, not because she is the best, but because of her versatility. It's going to be a great strength if she sticks with the band for further albums because it will allow Tuomas to create music without worrying about whether or not the singer will be able to handle it. Floor can and will handle it.
That's just my 2 cents though. I respect all three singers, Tarja Turunen, Anette Olzon and Floor Jansen.
+Rokusan Sangen Tarja was the OG of nightwigh she was the best I get it from every fan but the matter of fact we are at 2016 and Floor is what nightwish is at.
After watching the entire show my only thought was "Nightwish is back".
Floor give the fan excellent vocal, interaction and sexy vibe as a metal band should be.
Tarja was an event, Anette was deception (look at the deception from the fan in the live videos), floor is a proper metal show.
+alexv182 We must have been listening to different Tarja's. She was a novelty that now is everywhere in symphonic metal. If you think she's a great classical singer try listening to Lori Lewis or better still some of the top opera divas of the day. Maybe it will give you some perspective.

I agree. But I also love Floor because she's taller and sexy, her stage presence is superb with her headbaning and moves in the stage. Her voice and Marco's compliment very well. She's really into the music. I respect Tarja though, I knew the band when she was in it, but she was weird to see. I definitely think Floor fits better.
+Dave Mason I agree, it's mostly the novelty. Back then there weren't that many metal bands that used an operatic female voice. While Tarja has a great voice, there's way better vocalists out there. The appeal back then, and still, is Tuomas' great compositions combined with a female voice that fits with what he writes. The only difference now is, they have a singer that can do it all.
I agree with you wholeheartedly, I loved Nightwish while Tarja was in the band, I loved them when they moved onto Anette, and I love them even more now with Floor since she can do both styles nearly as well. Not to mention her stage presence is just majestic

How is that? You think Tuomas wouldn't have asked anyone else to join had Tarja declined the offer to sing with them? Of course he would have. Now, would they have risen to the fame they did with Tarja with someone else singing - that's a whole different story. In all likelyhood, no.
I agree with Richard, Tuomas deserves more credit. Well MOST of the credit of course. Without great songs a band is basically a zero - no matter how well you play or sing those songs. World is full of excellent players and singers with rubbish material to play and sing. So it's obvious who we should be primarily thanking for for the success of Nightwish.

I absolutely agree! May God bless Toumas! He has given us a lot of great music to listen to over the years and I have to say this he IS Nightwish. However I love every other member as well. They all play very well together and seem to get along. Marco has a great personality on stage and is very talented both instrumentally and vocally.Emmpu is also a great guitar player, watch him in romanticide live in wacken 2013. Yukka is also a great drummer and so is Kai. And Troy is great also. So they have a great team and an excellent songwriter! That's why they work so well. And floor is probably the best female singer I've ever heard. She just has it all.

I read the reason why Floor doesn't sing Tarja's songs like Tarja in full opera (we know she is more the capable.) is she doesn't want to "copy" any of the previous singers or "front for a Nightwish cover band". She sings the songs how she would sing them if they were her own. Seriously guys... Check out some of her opera stuff.

Klutzy Mutt Floor indeed has versatility but i have noticed that floor maybe can't sing some of the tarja-era songs in operatic style like her. Listening to End of an Era concert made me realize that some songs just sound great with tarja's voice and style. No hate for floor though, i love her as well.

I have to disagree, it's 50% she wants to give her own mark to them songs and 50% she can't handle some of the notes and vocal gymnastics of Tarja; You can hear it when she performs songs such as Wishmaster, The Siren, Phantom of the opera where it seems she's singing "light" versions of the songs because she knows her forte(chest vocals) and, like any singer, she doesn't want to go flat so she lowers the key a bit.

I agree. I have a huge sympathy towards Jukka. He is the one who inspired to dream of one day playing drums myself. My heart is with him, I hope a miracle will happen to him regarding his insomnia. I trully wish he will play again sometime

I completely agree. I think they are on the path to great things. I was a huge fan of Tarja. Still am. Anette, while she did have a good voice, it never sounded like a good fit at least in my ears. I think we're in for some great fucking metal from Floor.

This whole concert, start to finish - is an absolute vocal CLINIC. Kids - do you want to learn rock vocals? This is the gold standard right here. This is how it's done.

Can you imagine...? (Obviously you can!). TH doing a two CD set for Christmas? One CD a Concerto' written and arranged by TH including symphony and choral work? CD 2 could be classic Christmas Hymms / Carols? Can you imagine a TH arrangement of "Oh come Emmanuel?" I would weep from the first note to the last... (I do already). Love the idea!
I just inquired about VIP packages for NW's April 26th, 2015 show. I'd really enjoy the opportunity to meet the band and have pics taken with them. Of course (Withmy Wife's blessing) I would want one with just Floor and I... Whew!
My youngest has got to go back stage twice to meet and revisit with Country Star "Toby Keith". The last show this year he actually played a song Connor-Andrew requested and dedicated it to him before performing it. When he finished it he said "I love you Connor-Andrew my Little-Buddy"). TK is alright in my book though I'm not a country music guy. CA gets that through is Grandparents. :-)

I had no idea that "I want my tears back" is inspired by Disney? I watched the documentary on the making of "Scrooge McDuck?" that he wrote the soundtrack for, He is so brilliant yet looks the part of a Dark-Rock-Musician". I will miss seeing Jukka on the kit. Such an animated drummer and so tight.... Did you see a third act has been added to the bill?

The way she can simply transition between rock and classical (operatic) singing with such ease is like nothing I have ever heard before.
Reaction by Opera stage director on YT: "in this way Floor is even better then most big Opera singers: whereas the Opera stars often have difficulty in transitioning from the operatic range to the chest voice (which they not often use) they often "clunk" from the one to the other. The amazing thing about Floor Jansen is that she can effortlessly and fluently transition between these registers, make mixes at will etc. This is something most Opera stars Can NOT do..."

I stopped listening to Nightwish after Tarja left. And then I happened to run into Nightwish live videos again. And you know what?! Floor is the best thing that ever happened to this band. In my opinion, she is so amazing live. I simply cannot stop listening to live versions of every song I could possibly find by Floor. Thank you so much for being such an inspiration for me. I agree. Floor is very versatile vocalist and her stage presence is SO MUCH better than Tarja’s. Sorry to say it but for me Tarja always looked stiff and uncomfortable on stage. She is a great singer but Floor fits NW better!

Dare I say that Nw has found it's future singer. It's sometimes hard to admit that a band can still be good after a drastic change. I grew up listening to them with Tarja but fuck nostalgia, this rocks! Floor is a perfect fit to this band.

One of the best two openings I have ever seen at a concert. Marco and Emppu cross to open an inter-dimensional portal for the Valkerie named Floor by her followers. What follows is Symphonic Metal history.
Phenomenal....I had not heard of Floor or Nightwish 5 months ago then after hearing so much about them decided to see what all the fuss is about and OMG 😳😍👍
When I first heard this, my jaw literally dropped. Floor's got one of the most incredible, beautiful voices I've ever heard.
I first started to listen to Nightwish back when Tarja was the vocalist. I continued to listen to them when Anetta joined followed by Floor Jansen. This is my humble opinion :) When I first started to listen to Nightwish, they had a very Gothic sound to them that Tarja seemed to bring (my girlfriend at the time thought they sounded "scary" because of Tarjas voice lol). When Anetta came, I thought she was alright, but she seemed to bring a more pop type of flavor to everything. Also, when Anetta would sing live, she would have trouble hitting the high parts that Tarja would easily do (Dark Chest of wonders as an example). To be fair, those songs were not written with her voice in mind, but rather Tarjas. Then I heard Floor Jansen. She has so much power in her voice. She doesn't bring the "opera" type of feel to her vocals, but to me personally, she is the best fit for the band that I have heard since Tarja left. I watched this video and wondered how she would do with "Dark Chest of Wonders, (I had never heard her sing it) and my mouth just dropped!. Fantastic voice with so much power and versatility and she seems to have so much stage presence. (watch her sing live at Wacken 2013 performing "Wish I had an angel") Great singer in my opinion. Anyway, these were just the humble observations of a long time listener :)

Dark Chest of Wonders.... the song that made me discover Nightwish. I'll never forget my first Nightwish concert on the tour after this song was released. Tarja was great for Nightwish but I really have to admit Floor is the best thing that happened to Nightwish.... she's a perfect fit in my opinion. She made the old songs her own and gave them a new soul.

The repeat of the refrain with the key change up a step near the end of the song still bashes me on the head. It just drives the awesomeness SO HARD!

As a no-body in Canada, I been listening to Floor since 05' her After Forever days, was even listening to NW same time. Time goes on high school college kids and a beautiful home. Nw singers going left and right, then omg Floor Jansen. One of the best singers joined one of my favorite bands. WOW. I'm so happy for her.
This may be unpopular opinion but I think Floor is the best vocalist night wish has had. She can do the operatic vocals like Tarja, and clean pop(ish) vocals like anette, but she can really belt out some power notes unlike the others (and I heard she can do screams too). Oh ya and above all, I can understand every word she sings, Tarja sometimes just sings operatic and is hard to understand lots of the time

I think most people agree, she is way better even if both Tarja and Anette are great.
The rest of you all think the same thing I think. Floor is just phenomenal. Sometimes there are simply no words to describe how great she is. And she is absolutely fantastic live. I heard her sing Elan live and she sounded pretty much exactly like she did on the album. In my opinion she blows the other two away but I did like Annette. I just wish that floor could have recorded imaginaerum because in my opinion to date that is the hardest album they have ever done and I lean towards more hard and heavy songs then I Do lyrics. But Annette did a great job too. I think scaretale is the best song she did on the album she just sounds very creepy on that song which is of course exactly the way she is supposed to sound on that song. And I agree with everyone that tarya is very difficult to understand live. Her Studio albums don't sound bad, and her operatic Talent I feel is great. I saw RUclips video that recorded floor and tarya singing the same classical opera song. And while floor did an excellent job, I have to give credit where credit is due and say that tarja blew her out of the water. Her Talent lies in classical voice not in metal. However that is where most of her fan base is. Annette also has a new band called the dark element and she's very good in it and I'm happy to see that she's back in a band. And by the way if anybody wants to see some real ridiculousness look up Ariana Grande versus floor Jansen. Then read the comments everybody says that floor is the best and of course she is. There is no way you can compare a little pop princess to the almighty floor.
I doubt its an unpopular opinion...Floor was very well received.
I would call her the second best, my opinion, as unpopular as it has been over the years, is that Marco has been and still is their best singer and they only use him for backing vocals most of the time. But I love anything he is on with any of the bands he has worked with.
And I am pretty sure that the reason most people loved Floor joining is the same reason I did. She had long ago proved herself one of the best metal vocalists with a power and range very few humans can match, so bringing that to a band that has the range of music and creativity of nightwish is exciting.

Floor gives the much needed headbangs to NW's songs that neither Tarja nor Anette gave.
I have to agree, though I thought both Tarja and Annette fit the band quite well during their stints within the band. This is not to downplay Floor's vocal ability, because it is incredible. I liked Annette, I liked Tarja so long as they were singing the songs that were written for them.I can't want to hear the next album that will undoubtedly be written more in tune with Floor's vocals. Either way, the band has always been incredible.

I liked the operatic flare that Tarja gave the band, but they seemed to be lacking in the 'power' department, _(suppose that's why Tuomas hired other guest vocalists and later and more so Marco in the 'Century Child' era and album)._ Then they fired Tarja, which was dissapointing. They then hired Anette, which it took me a lot of time for me to appreciate her vocal style and the dramatic vocal change. But a year on from 'Dark Passion Play' and certainly into the 'Imaginarium' album I began to like her, though her 'hit and miss' live preformances really urked me to be honest. But generally I did ike her voice, and the more 'power metal' and aggressive sound and vibe she brought to the band. When it was annouced that Anette had left Nightwish, I was sort of both dissapointed and glad... But worried at the same time that it would be the end of Nightwish as a band. Then when I had heared that Floor Jansen had been hired I was *super excited*. I'd always liked her previous bands 'After Forever' and later 'ReVamp'. But always thought her voice deserved a much more bigger, epic and bombastic band, _(like Nightwish)_, and Nightwish deserved a 'real' metal singer that had the power, (such more power then Anette could bring). During Floor's induction during the 'Imaginarium Tour', it was quite clear that many NW fans believed that Floor was the best choice for the band, (including myself). Now it's like a happy ending to a epic film, now that Floor is an official member of Nightwish. Can't wait for their new album! BRING ON THE 'REAL' METAL, I say!

What an opening! Such a huge, heavy, epic sound. Floor is perfect in delivery and big presence. Looking like a Dominatrix,Viking, Lady of the Lake, and having the lungs to go along with it. I’ve watched this over and over.
Say what you will about any of Nightwish's singers, I'm just glad they exist in any form. I enjoyed all of the vocalists, as a huge Tarja fan, I must say that I had doubts about Floor until I recently watched some of the performances. Undeniably, she has embraced the bands music and made it her own. Amazing stage presence and live vocals. It's like listening to a different song when Floor sings it. Good stuff. :)
Nobody fills Tarja's place as wonderfully as Floor does. Not only that, but Floor makes it her own, as well! I love Floor! :D

Bobby Truck She could sing this just like Tarja did. She has extensive classical and opera training. Just check out videos of her singing opera on RUclips here. She doesn't sing it like Tarja, though. She makes it her own. Otherwise, she's just covering it.

Floor can sing almost every Anette song better then her aside from the couple in Imaginarium that were tailored for her lack of vocal range. Floor doesn't use operatic voice like Tarja, because the band didn't want her to. Tarja is still probably better at that style, but she specializes in that vocal style after all. Floor is far more versatile.

What I like best about Floor is the fact she takes each song in the Nightwish catalog, which is vast....and makes each song her own. It's like she had the songs re-recorded just for her to perform live. Floor DOES NOT mimic, copy or replicate Nightwish's songs, which were previously written for Tarja and Anette, respectively, to fit their vocal styles and range. Floor makes each song her very own, like they were written for her. And that is why I feel Floor is THE best vocalist Nightwish has had and currently has.
OH MY GODDESS, I must have seen this thousands of times and they still captivate my soul. Floor is breathtaking pulling off some angelic singing abilities, and the guys seem so happy to be able to play good music together

But Tarja was much better on this song. I dont know how she sings the other songs, but here she is often quite off in the refrain. Tarja hits the notes much better.

I like the studio versions with Tarja, because... sound technicians. When I hear her live I cringe too often. Her strange choice of starting off-pitch with too slow vibrato often made her sound like she wasnt hitting some notes.
Floor on the other hand, is a power house. Belting what Tarja needed to sing operatic.

I have said it once already, the band is super, Floor is a singer behind any imagination, she doesn't have to shake her A.. , like many of the American superstars, I think she has bypassed all of them, but the "DRUMMER" its insane, fantastic, still I cannot understand how he keeps up the speed? All the singers of Nightwish have been phenomenal. All have had different approaches to these great songs. If I would still have to pick the best it would surely be Floor.
I wouldn't label Annette as phenomenal. A good singer, but not well-suited for Nightwish material. Surprisingly, the first album she was on has been my favorite Nightwish album. I do wish her the best.

As much as I loved Tarja's vocalistics and supreme vocal crafting, Floor is a true performance artist. A Metal goddess in leather. After watching the versions of this song by all three artists, I have to go with Floor. For me, I see the appreciation of difficult vocals as technical with Tarja, a just belt it out vibe from Annette, but I see a love of the music for itself as heavy metal in the performances with Floor.

Everyone's praising Floor which is totally understandable, but Jukka on the drums...OMG As a drummer myself I know how hard it is to play the way he does. Pours his soul out, physically and mentally. Huge respect!
Even after all these years, I've never gotten over him. He is SO FUN to watch... he's, like, the only drummer I have ever found exciting to watch. He's so damn intense! He's incredible. Absolutely huge respect! I think it took its toll on him, and I really miss him in the band, but what a treat! There's a close-up of him in this video at 3:56 and he just glows with intensity!
Watching Jukka beat those drums like they insulted his mama, never gets old.
